“Hometown Veterinary Clinic provided exceptional care for my cat as she crossed the rainbow bridge. On Friday morning I took my 2 1/2 year old cat, Freya, to this vet and the employees there were immediately gentle and kind, taking their time with getting Freya's vitals since she was super lethargic. When her blood work came back with dire results, they were able to welcome me back a few hours later, this time with my boyfriend since he was off work by then, without an appointment so that we could say our goodbyes to her. Dr. Sarcon took care of Freya for both appointments and I couldn't have asked for anyone better, as she was so understanding with how devastated my boyfriend and I were over losing our cat at such a young age. The vet techs were also amazing, especially the one who was there when we put Freya to sleep. She explained that she was the one to trim a piece of fur as a keepsake and made sure to keep note of which section we wanted trimmed. Although we lost our beloved girl that day, I can't thank Hometown enough for their exceptional care.”

“I cannot speak highly enough about Crossroads Animal Care Center and their incredible staff. We are new to the area and weren’t sure where to start, so we called about nine different veterinary offices before reaching out to Crossroads. From the very first phone call, everyone was so kind and pleasant, and they made sure our urgent concern for our pup was taken seriously. They did everything they could to accommodate us and were able to squeeze us in for an urgent care evaluation. They then scheduled our girl’s surgery just two days later. One of the things that really stood out to us is their beautiful outdoor area, which they use for dogs who are terrified of being inside a veterinary office. Our dog is extremely anxious at the vet, and they were so thoughtful about her needs. We were able to have her assessment, vaccines, and blood draw done outside, where she felt much more comfortable. The staff was patient, kind, caring, and genuinely compassionate throughout the entire process. Every bit of information they provided was clear, thoroughly explained, written down for us, and communicated every step of the way. During our surgical visit, the staff took the time to educate us about the procedure, offered comfort and support, and called us with updates throughout the day. Knowing our baby girl was being cared for and receiving updates gave us so much peace of mind. The facility itself is beautiful, clean, and easy to get to, but it was truly the people who made this experience so exceptional. At the end of our visit, they even gave our girl a toy, and she absolutely loves her toys! It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture and honestly made our day. Everyone we interacted with was amazing, but I especially have to give a huge shoutout to Tiffany, one of the nurses. She made this entire process feel so much smoother, cared for our pup as if she were her own, and was simply an amazing person. We are so grateful for the kindness and compassion she showed our girl and our family. Thank you so much to Crossroads Animal Care Center and your entire staff for giving us such an exceptional experience. You have officially gained customers for life, and we will never go anywhere else for our fur babies. I would give 10 stars if I could!”

“Update: I've gone here for 3ish years and overall have had positive experiences. One note for me is they've been very flexible and timely with scheduling versus some vets that I have to wait a week or more to get an appointment. They do seem to be lower volume than other offices I've been to, and have gone through a total of 4 primary care vets for different pets. The staff are always friendly and everything is clean. They will take the pet to the back for certain services, which isn't preferred but MOST do this. Prices are decent. Maybe not best, but not bad. They've been very responsive regarding communications, records, inquiries, medication management, etc.”

“On Nov 11, I took my male cat in for urinary issues and they immediately took him back to check for a blockage, before I even had any paper work filled out. Thankfully, he wasn't blocked. I knew if he wasn't blocked, and therefore not emergent, it would take awhile. I'm fine with waiting at ER's, understanding the most critical are priority. Dr Drum was wonderful. She took the time to explain everything and answer any questions. Salem is a sweet boy, but he is a former feral who doesn't handle car rides, vet visits, or receiving medication very well. Dr Drum has been amazingly helpful and responsive via email as we continue to monitor Salem and discuss options to proceed if necessary. She has also provided me with a wealth of information, and has been incredibly understanding of this overwhelmed cat mom. The front desk staff and vet tech were all very kind and helpful. Thank you to everyone for making sure my boy was okay so quickly.”

“Our 17 year old dog was really struggling so we took him in yesterday, fearing the worst. Of course, an hour or so before our appt., the dog showed new signs of life & was was running everywhere. Spoiler alert: We brought him home. We consulted with Dr. Burbrink upon arrival. She was unbelievable. She came in, sat with us, told us that we can expect many more ups and downs, then examined our dog and gave him some meds for muscles and for pain. He seems to be doing much better. We know we're only buying time, but it's important time. Dr. Burbrink was so kind, so understanding, so patient. she took the time to explain to us what was going on with him and the intended goal of the treatment plan. She got down on the floor to examine him and was so nice to him. He doesn't always tolerate people, but she was great and the dog was nice to her. But I really wanted to post a review because she really was just exceptional.”

“My cat BG is, let’s say “spicy”. She is the quintessential scary cat who runs and hide if she hears a doorbell or a stranger’s voice. Yet, she turns into “demon cat” at the vet. Thus, we avoid the vet unless it is absolutely necessary. Today was our first visit and I am impressed. She meowed all the way there but once at the clinic- she “calmed” down. She did hiss at the vet and we needed at vet tech to help BUT, she did not require sedation, the staff was extra kind to her, and she did not draw blood. As a cat parent, I couldn’t be more excited to finally find a vet clinic that is not afraid her. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!”

“Overall, Dumfries Animal Hospital is a good veterinary practice. I have brought my pet here on several occasions, and I appreciate that the rates are reasonable and that the staff is consistently kind and helpful. Many of the veterinarians I have worked with clearly love what they do, and that care is what makes this practice stand out. That said, I have had a few experiences with veterinarians who came across as unnecessarily rude. I first had a negative experience with an older veterinarian there, which led me to quietly switch to another vet in Fairfax. However, the distance became inconvenient, so I eventually returned to Dumfries Animal Hospital and had an excellent visit. My fur baby received great care, which reminded me why I had liked the practice in the first place. More recently, I had an appointment with a visiting veterinarian who also came across as rude. The final straw was a confusing situation involving a call from the front desk about an appointment. During the call, I was asked about a previous emergency vet visit at another location nearly a year earlier. I assumed they were simply updating records, so I provided the information. Later, the veterinarian seemed to blame me for the mix-up, and when I tried to explain what happened, she dismissed me by saying “anyway” and moved on to discussing my pet. I had also hoped to board my dog there, and the veterinarian noted that I needed to bring her back for a follow-up. When I returned, she asked whether I had found boarding for my dog. I explained that I thought the boarding was supposed to be handled there if my dog checked out ok. It was getting nowhere so gave up and found another location. The medication did help my dog recover, although putting her down had been mentioned as an option if she did not improve. Thankfully, she did improve and later strutted through Dumfries Animal Hospital as happy as could be. I was close to leaving Dumfries Animal Hospital again, but I recently sent someone else to take my dog in for her annual shots, and they said their experience was good. Because of the caring staff, reasonable rates, and positive experiences I have had with several veterinarians, I would have given five stars. However, due to the rude interactions I experienced with a couple of veterinarians, I am giving four stars. I remained polite and pleasant throughout these visits and did not feel that kind of treatment was deserved.”

The kennel manager Joey I believe is his name always assures that my pets are taking care of. Don’t let the comment below of him being rude discourage you from coming to this amazing establishment. I will be reporting the comment about Joey being rude, he is always helpful to me and I have seen him go as far to checking in my appointments and checking me out in the room since my animals are dog reactive. The front desk is also so helpful and doctors they’re just very lovely people. I always recommend Dr.Tobar since he is bilingual and my family mostly speaks Spanish very easy on us.”

Dr. Bowles and all the staff are amazing and thoughtful. I have taken my puppy and my very old dog to them. They understand what is needed for both and show amazing compassion. They bring out a pad for my old girl to lay on and sit on the floor with her. They have great energy for my young pup. I recommend them highly.”

“AAH has been our go to for the last five years. About three years ago, my eldest cat passed, and the team at AAH held our hands the entire way through the process. From explaining treatment options to being there when we finally had to say goodbye. They even sent a handwritten condolence card after, which meant so much to us. Over the past year, one of our cats has a strange allergy on his belly. The doctor has personally followed up at least three times to check in on him, see if he's showing improvement, etc. While that would obviously be the hope for any medical concern, I've never actually had a vet personally call and email to make sure their patient is doing well. It really shows how much they truly care about their animals. It makes a difference when you can tell the team genuinely loves what they do and the patients they have. We are so thankful to have a vet and team as caring as the AAH staff. Also enjoy these cute pictures of our cats who are all healthy and thriving because they have such a good doctor to take care of them ☺️”

“As the fur mom of a senior cat, I’ve visited this location on multiple occasions, but my most recent visit really stood out to me. Taking my senior girl to the vet can be incredibly anxiety-inducing because there’s always that fear that one day I’ll be told it’s time to make an incredibly difficult decision. During our most recent visit, the Veterinary Assistant, Diego, was so friendly, patient, and compassionate with both of us. While comforting my cat during her exam, Diego took the extra time to gently clean the eye boogers from her eyes. It may seem like such a small gesture, but as a pet parent, those little acts of kindness mean so much. During our previous visit, Diego was the one who told me that she had lost weight. He could immediately see how upset I was, and instead of simply moving on, he took her to the back and reassured me that they had weighed her again to make sure they had an accurate reading. That extra effort and compassion meant more to me than he probably realized. When you have a senior pet, you remember the people who treat them with genuine kindness and care. Diego is one of those people. I’m incredibly grateful for the compassion he has shown my girl and for making what can be a very stressful experience a little easier for both of us.”
