“I had one of the worst days I can remember—my car broke down unexpectedly, leaving me stranded in a gas station parking lot, two hours from home, alone, and honestly pretty shaken. To make matters worse, it was Easter Sunday and everything nearby was closed. What could have been a miserable and stressful experience turned into something completely different because of the incredible people who own and run this business. The new owner and his family immediately stepped in, reassured me that I was safe, and treated me with genuine kindness and care. I ended up staying there for 5–6 hours while waiting for my husband to arrive, and not once did I feel like a burden. They went out of their way to check on me, make sure I was okay, and simply be present. They treated me like family—something that is increasingly rare these days. By the end of it all, what started as an awful situation turned into a surprisingly positive experience. I walked away not just grateful, but feeling like I had made real, lasting connections. In a world where customer service often feels transactional, this place stands out in the best possible way. If you’re anywhere in the area, I highly recommend supporting this business. These are exactly the kind of people and establishments we need more of. From the bottom of my heart—thank you.”
“The staff at this store are always kind and appear glad to see/help you, even if they dont know you. The store is decently clean though bathrooms could be a bit cleaner.”
“Only gas station around in this area where an attendant still pumps your gas. It's connected to the Smock Stack Tobacco Store. Nice location. Easy 29 business highway access.”

“This store is located in the not so popular area of our city for going to late at night. But the employees here are always friendly and aware of what's going on. They put up w a lot of crap from folks but still do their best to have a smile when I come in. May they stay safe!”

“The best treatment ever, nice kind and lots of good deals and Crystal is one hell of an associate, kind and a very good hard worker. She needs a raise Murphy don't let good ones go!”
“The staff at this location are always friendly, no matter how busy they are. I frequent this location, mostly in the morning, because they always have product in stock, typically clean, and they are quick and efficient in the MTO area. I’ve noticed a change in management and it seems to have been the correct move for this location. Keep up the great work!”
The Iowa retailer, the third-largest convenience store operator in the country, built its new three-year plan around three priorities: store growth, food and beverage expansion, and kitchen technology upgrades. The company plans to add 120 stores during the current fiscal year. Its previous plan, launched in 2023, delivered more than 500 new stores and earned the company a spot in the S&P 500.
Love's Travel Stops is starting 2025 with ambitious growth plans, adding 20 new stores and updating 50 current locations across the country. The truck stop company will upgrade its stores through its Strategic Remodel Initiative, which started in 2022. This includes the modernization of its recently acquired turnpike location in Stroud, Oklahoma. By 2035, over half of Love's 655 stores will be either new or updated.
Texas-born Buc-ee's is changing the way people think about gas stations and convenience stores. This chain is known for its huge stores along highways, some with over 100 fuel pumps. With its funny billboard ads, award-winning clean bathrooms, and branded items Buc-ee’s is hard to miss. The company wants people to actually plan to stop at Buc-ee's during road trips, not just go there as a last resort. And it's working - the chain has a huge fan base, with Facebook groups dedicated to Buc-ee's having hundreds of thousands of members.
Sheetz Inc., the Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain, is making big moves in the Motor City. The company announced plans to open four more locations across metro Detroit, weeks before opening its first Michigan location. The first Michigan Sheetz will open its doors in late summer at 33380 Wick Road in Romulus. More locations are planned for Taylor, Warren, and Macomb Township, each employing around 30 people, mostly full-time.
Love's Travel Stops is rolling out a new system that turns work into a game for its restaurant employees. Picture this: Three big screens in each restaurant, tracking how fast workers greet customers, take orders, and hand out food. It's not just for show - early results say it's making service 11 seconds faster on average. "These monitors track key performance metrics in real-time, such as greet times, order processing times and the time it takes for food handoff," Love's explains. The system creates a more interactive environment, fostering friendly competition between stores.
