Although they are no longer with me, I will never forget the love, patience, and exceptional care that Dr. Phelps and his staff showed them every time we visited. I especially appreciated Dr. Phelps’s straightforwardness. He was always honest and direct, but he delivered that honesty with compassion and genuine concern. That meant so much to me as a pet owner.
The office staff knew Friend and Bella by name and treated them like family. You could truly feel that they cared about them beyond simply being patients. Dr. Phelps and his entire staff hold a special place in my heart. I am forever grateful for the care, kindness, and love they showed Friend and Bella throughout their lives. 🐾❤”

“Dr Hartman is the BEST!! She used to work at a Clinic near my home in Mechanicsville Va. My pets are now 12-11-10 Morkie small dogs. I didn't really feel comfortable with the doctors after she left except for one of them but still went for minor things and only the one vet did serious things. So, I went in for impacted anal glands I thought but they said basically my 10-year-old was going to die withing a year or could the next day (He was born with a heart murmur). They told me his anal gland was empty, he was getting a hernia and would need to be put to sleep if he got one, needed to be fixed and probably couldn't be fixed because of his heart murmur would die during surgery so he needed a $500 echocardiogram to see if he could get fixed, and needed and $450 ultrasound to check for cancer. I asked for an appointment with the doctor I trusted with serious things they refused to give me an appointment. I found out Dr Hartman was at Town and Country 45 min drive for me. I do not drive on the highway, on bridges, or do directions very well LOL. So off I went on the highway, over the bridge, to find Dr Hartman the only Vet I trusted with my little Django. If she said he needed these things I would be willing to do anything. So, he had impacted anal glands and looked good. Did not recommend getting him fixed which is why we never got him fixed in the first place. She has always taken care of all three of my pets with love and care. My 12-year-old is a girl and is the momma of my 10-year-old and she is the Dr that took care of her when she was pregnant and took care of him when he was born up until she left that practice. She had to clip the liters tails and dew claws in the middle of a storm with NO power using a flashlight because it had to be done before they were a certain age. I can't say enough good things about her and how she loves the animals she treats. I will now be traveling the 45 minutes to Town and Country for Dr Hartman. Thanks So Much Dr Hartman”
“We just love everyone at this VCA! They are always so sweet to our anxious little dogs. Dr. James and her tech Isaiah are just the best. They are both so intelligent and kind and you can tell they really care about your pets and want the best for them.
My husband and I always talk their ears off and ask a million questions but they’re super patient about it. The reception team is very kind too and they always do their best to work with our schedule. Thank you VCA Colonial Heights! 🐾”

“I can’t recommend this place enough. My cat was on the brink of death, and after just having to recently pay for an emergency vet visit as well as a private cremation for one of my other beloved pets, funds were short. This office accepted cherry financing with was hugely helpful. I believe it was Dr. lyons that we saw if I remember correctly, and she quite literally saved my baby’s life and helped educate me further on things I did not know. I didn’t even have an appointment or anything as this was a last ditch effort to try and save my baby, and they took us immediately back to a room and got started on her. Their regular office visit is very affordable even without cherry.”

“I took my 16 yr old Yorkie in because he was so sick I wasn’t sure if he was going to make it. The staff from start to finish were kind and explained everything. The doctor was excellent as well. My sweet boy just needed some meds . He’s all better and doing great. I wouldn’t take him anywhere else.”
