“Love this shop with its unique and beautiful merchandise and their little cafe with delicious quiche and salads and more. I crave their pickled cucumbers and onions...just like my grandmother used to make. Soooo good. And they have customer service down pat. They could teach other shops a thing or two (or 20) about good customer service! The Mole Hole is one of my happy places in Williamsburg. ?”

“Do you need remodeled furniture, gifts, handmade items, its all here EVERYTHING. It's basically a inside flea market of different vendors selking things either they have made or remodeled and more I love it but if you go in for one thing you will come out with more than you wanted haha! The staff is beyond nice and sweet they can lead you to ways to help and if you also purchase something if they aren't busy they can help you with it. It's as if you are their family, amazing prices and experiences. The stair case is also so lovely and they also have a elevator for easy access and a bathroom as well.”

“Great selection of unique items, maintaining their style in this new location on Tewning Road. Hunt for it at the end of the road in the first 144 building, Unit “H” on the right. You will be rewarded.”

“My wife bought me an oil lamp for my birthday. Nice selection to pick from. The lady clerk took the time to take the lamp out of the box to make sure it was good. We live 8 or 9 hours away. It was fine. She said it was very rare for a defect on their lamps. Have to wait for my actual birthday date in a couple weeks to try it out. Satisfied with the experience in this store.”

“This is a great little shopped tucked in the beautiful historic Colonial Williamsburg, VA area. It’s a small, cozy and adorable small shop with a big heart and helping hands and a FREE Museum too????!!

The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful ???! I had the pleasure of unexpectedly meeting and speaking with John Fogarty, Burton Parish Church Comptroller, who readily gave me some insight on some of the items displayed in the museum and made me excited to visit their Church too.

You are sure to find something unique in this store and the profits are used to do great work for communities.

YES!!! I do recommend them to my family, friends, friends or friends and, NOW, the World ? too!!?????”

“A Review of Tarpley, Thompson, and Company of Williamsburg, Virginia
By a Fellow Tradesman and Purveyor of Fine Garments, Anno Domini 1694

Good Sirs and Gentlewomen,

Permit me to set down a few words concerning that most reputable house of commerce, Tarpley, Thompson, and Company, whose establishment doth adorn the fair streets of Williamsburg as a pearl upon a silken string. Having long plied my own trade in the noble art of apparel and haberdashery, I hold myself no stranger to the temper of commerce nor to the whims of the genteel public. Thus I speak with authority when I proclaim: never have I encountered a shop so well-appointed, nor merchants so well-mannered, as these gentlemen of Tarpley and Thompson.

Their wares are of the choicest sort — broadcloth of rich hue, linsey-woolsey woven tight and even, buttons of pewter and brass that catch the candle’s gleam as bright as morning dew. The lace, methinks, could tempt even a Puritan to vanity; and their gloves, soft as a dove’s breast, bespeak both comfort and civility.

What most commendeth the Company, however, is their honesty of dealing. They will not puff up their prices nor gild their words with deceit, as too many shopkeepers in this new world are wont to do. Nay — their measure is fair, their cut exact, and their courtesy sincere. A man may trade there and keep his conscience clear.

I say unto all who journey through Williamsburg — whether planter, parson, or gentleman of leisure — if thou desirest apparel fit for respectability, repair at once to Tarpley, Thompson, and Company. There thou shalt find civility, quality, and the pleasing scent of honest trade.

I remain,
Your humble servant in cloth and commerce,
E. B.,
Master Tailor and Merchant of Fine Apparel
Williamsburg, the 14th day of October, Anno 1694”

“After an unfortunate negative experience at the Williamsburg store location yesterday, I am pleased to edit my initial review. After reading my review, the store owner requested that I give her a call and allow her a chance to correct what had happened. After speaking to a store manager, as well as receiving a call from the owner, Ms. Fenton, I can attest that these ladies take customer service and satisfaction very seriously and they take pride in their life's work. I want to sincerely thank them for reaching out to me, and please know that I will be so happy to shop at their stores in the future. Blessings to you both!”

“They really had a lot of beautiful souvenirs and memorabilia but were quite on the high side. Make sure to get a coupon that helps a lot. These are real insects and reptiles.”
