“A small store with good food and products I haven't seen elsewhere. Safflower oil. Truffle oil krinkle cut chips. A fun find which I will find again and again.”
“This business is a hidden gem and a staple on the island. Tucked away in the forest, it offers a unique experience - this is the place to go Sasquatch spotting. Lounge on the porch with a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich after a morning hike or have a local beer and enjoy entertainment like live music, trivia, or a chat with the locals.”
“Star Store had a good variety of snacks for a reasonable price. The cheese selection was also surprisingly good. The store itself was clean and well organized. The employees were approachable and helpful.”
“Great local co-op grocery store, the Goose is known for its support of the community. I feel like I'm walking into a cross between Whole Foods and Trader Joes every time I visit.”
“Best grocery store on Whidbey. Besides a great selection of the usual stuff, they've got an excellent deli counter with great options for picnics. Favorites include the fried chicken, tuna salad, cauliflower-broccoli crustless quiche, and the Asian noodle salad. Beware of the mildly grouchy staff.”
“Good grocery store, the main attraction for us is the end cap wall of Jelly Belly dispensers. I can get an entire bag of just the Buttered Popcorn and Watermelon flavors, while my crazy husband and children can stock up on abominations like Tutti Frutti and Black Licorice.”
“The store is conveniently located in central Whidbey with plenty of parking available. Produce quality is very high, veggies are always fresh and attractively displayed. Usually a good variety of meats are on hand although lamb is in short supply. Note that Payless carries American lamb, a real plus in my book. The one negative about this store are the prices. Across the board, prices are significantly higher than other grocery stores located on Whidbey. If cost is a concern, go to Oak Harbor for your grocery needs.”
