My van had transmission problems for two years. I did everything I could to treat it gently, but a week before Christmas my van broke. It would only drive in reverse.
Not having enough money to pay to get the job done twice, I carefully selected General Transmission because of their documented history doing more than they were required to do and that they have stood behind their work even when they have the option not to. One reviewer was outside of the warranty period and Mark repaired at no charge anyway (check out the posting from Elizabeth on 02/08/2021).
-They did everything they said they would do (follow-up, stayed within the estimate)
- They did more than they had to do (applied a coupon that was on the website without me bringing it up
- When they heard I was making childcare arrangements to get the van they brought it to my house.
- They got my van repaired (and delivered to me) within a week.
Transmission work, unfortunately, is difficult. Mark is conscious of the financial impact and he and Cindy have worked out the best pricing they can to be fair to everyone. That includes the flat labor fee, the markup on parts and leaving it up each customer if they want to pay an extra 3% to use their credit card.
I appreciate what they did for me, and am confident the job was done well. If in the future I find there was a problem I’ll make sure to update this review.
****End of year 2024 Update****
7 months after the transmission repair the van was rattling. I troubleshot chassis issues as well as I could and reached out to Cindy. They took my van in, as soon as I could bring it, drove it for 50+ miles couldn't recreate the issue, and even took the pan off to see if they saw anything wrong inside of the transmission - without charging me a penny.
Turns out the issue was a bad fuel pump- not related to the transmission at all, but they took great care of my van and of me.
We're approaching two years of a new transmission and it works great. That even included taking a trip to Yellowstone. Thank you again Mark and Cindi for doing great work and standing behind it. If I could do it all over again, I would not hesitate to work with you again.”

Just took my 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid in today for a CVT and Rear Differential ATF WS fluid change and saved about 50% from what a dealer charges for the same operation.
