“I was the first Terminal Manager when it opened in August, 1969. Bob Wynn and I pretty much ran the whole place while it was being finished. Once opened, all of the Seattle Pier 88 operations were transferred to this Kent location and the Pier 88 ceased. The terminal consisted of approximately 28 drivers, 10 yardmen, 12 in the office and 5 mechanics. An additional 5 acres was added to the North to accomodate Terminal Services, an auto "prepping" facility managed by Bruce Howard. A few months after opening there was a of fanfare including a helicopter fly in, the vice-president of the Milwaukee-Chicago Railroad (with his two private cars), and a visit by Ford and Chrysler dignitaries from across the US. The owner of Convoy Company, Mr John Youell, was a pretty special man. You couldn't ask for a better boss. I worked for Convoy Company for 18 years. I began employment there when I was 19 and left when I was 36 years old. I am now 86.”
“Kenneth “Ken” Smith was my delivery driver and truly the GOAT. He was warm, friendly, and handled my package with impressive care and attention to detail. He walked me through how to make sure everything was in perfect condition and what steps to take if it wasn’t. Outstanding service like this deserves serious recognition — give this man a raise!”
“Great company to work with! Ilya and Vlad were a huge help with a handful of cross-country loads and were ready to help with any questions or concerns along the way. Definitely would recommend Delta to anyone who wants a carrier that values transparency and honesty!”
