Slow service and rude techs. You're better off getting a new or refilled Rx elsewhere.

I came into to sick call wanting a shaving profile and was told to sit down and wait to get seen....40 minutes later I go to check to see how much longer and they told me that they don't do sick call for shaving profiles and I'd have to make an appointment. Why would you take my slip and tell me to sit down just to tell me 40 minutes later that this isn't a sick call issue?would give it -2 stars if I could

Would give it 0 stars if possible. Horrible service. No care for the soldiers. Recommend going off base for actual and better care for soldiers of JBLM

Pharmacy is slow and turns patients away 2 hours prior to actual closing time. Once at desk they over-complicate everything. Miss having Tricare Select and not having to use on-base facilities.

I absolutely hate it here. Just like Madigan hospital, this place is terrible. If you can go off base to be seen, I HIGHLY recommend it. If I could rate less than 1 star, I would.

My experience here has been pretty mixed so far. I've seen some reviews for the Madigan system where reviewers will bash other people for giving Madigan a low rating, saying free healthcare is free healthcare and they should be grateful. I understand where they're coming from, but for one, it isn't free -- my husband's time at work awards us the insurance -- and for two, Madigan can be pretty dang crappy at times. You can have bad experiences, warn others or complain, and still be grateful for your good experiences. I'll break down my experience & hopefully help people who will be treated like crap by Madigan physicians in the future have some idea of what to do next: Pro: The actual Army staff I have seen have been great -- assistants, lab techs & nurses. Major Poindexter is wonderful -- I highly recommend her for routine-checkups for all the ladies out there. She made me feel very cared for. Pro: In the event that you have problems with the staff here, you can let the Patient Advocacy Center/ICE know. They were extremely helpful for me and went above and beyond to help me out. If you've had a bad experience with your PCP/PCM and want to change, but Madigan or the booking center tell you there is no other availability on-post, ICE is where I would turn next. They might be able to get you someone new. Neutral: I've seen people complain about wait times at Winder, but I honestly haven't experienced anything out of the norm. Con: The civilian assistant I saw my first time here seemed to not be sure of what she was doing. She had to ask me repeatedly for same info repeatedly (5 or 6 times, for some reason she was repeatedly confused). I've had some not-so-good life experiences & upon telling the assistant vaguely what I've been through (because she asked me to), she blurted out "YOU WERE RAPED?!?!" Anyone who knows anything about mental health care & trauma knows you do not conduct yourself this way because you can trigger or harm the patient. Very kind, otherwise, but most unprofessional assistant I've seen. WORST Con: I was initially assigned to a civilian (I think), Dr. Parker, as my PCP. He was very nonchalant & almost seemed irritated to have to see me, as if I was interrupting something important to be given an examination. He was dismissive of issues that are of extreme pain to me. Made me feel uncomfortable when I had to discuss embarrassing matters. He then filled a referral for me to see a specialist for these embarrassing matters. I call the specialist and told her all my embarrassing details only to learn that the referral Dr. Parker made was to someone who can in no way help me -- a cancer doctor for children. The specialist (non-Army physician, off-post) was flabbergasted and told me she was very sorry he put me through this. Thankfully, the off-post medical staff in the area are very kind and helpful, and helped me figure out what to do next to get my referral fulfilled. Since my appointment with Dr. Parker, I've found a GREAT specialist off-post and am in some ways almost glad Parker screwed up my referral. 2nd to worst con: Some Madigan departments are heavily booked out -- until July (since early May) -- but no one is allowed referrals off post right now, I guess. I need help from a specific doctors office on post, not a routine exam, but I can't see them for months. I've been trying to get an appointment I NEED for a month with no luck... :( Con: I won't go into all the details but my current PCP (also civilian) is better than Parker, but still a little weird. I asked her about a symptom I've been experiencing to which she responded with "I don't know." This symptom is no where near life threatening but it does bother me daily, so it would have been nice for her to at least do something more than say IDK. She was very distracted by some other patient during my meeting with her and kept walking

Good people, they make sure you know how you're suppose to take your meds and what side effects to look for.

Winder Clinic is close to Madigan Hospital, but not nearly as busy. It is a small, out of the way clinic with a very professional and supportive staff. It has X-Ray capabilities, full service lab, pharmacy, and for retirees space available vision services. They welcome feedback and are always interested in improving the quality of their care.
