“I love going into this Barnes and Nobles! The staff is so nice, they KNOW their books and give great recommendations that you wouldn't think of, AND they are so clean and organized. This is my regular hideaway. ❤️”

“The store was well-organized and clean, the staff was friendly, and there were so many interesting books (and other items like bookmarks) to look at! I went with a group, and we all ended up leaving with at least one thing. I found books in great condition for good prices. I also ended up with a little journal and a gift for a friend. I would highly recommend this bookstore to anyone and I feel like it has something for everyone”

“One of the coolest shops I found during my trip to Seattle. I felt like there was a map here for every location, every niche interest.

I purchased mostly neat postcards and stickers as mementos of my visit to this city, but I imagine this would be a delight to many other map-appreciators like me — whether you’re local or beyond. Spent a lot of time poking around various spots in the store, which was overall very well-organized.

Staff was super friendly and welcoming, and good music playing!”

“I could have spent more time here, but we were with a group, and I wanted to be cognizant of others. This is just a warm, cozy, environment with a larger collection of books than it seems possible.”

“Absolutely love this bookstore!! The kids area is especially great - my kids could play here forever and love discovering new books. The staff is super kind and helpful, especially Laurie who helped us when we had an issue with our Independent Bookstore Day prize. The cookbook area is my personal favorite but there is always something new to find here.”

“My name is Don Lim and I purchased two small crosses from here about two weeks ago..However, the elderly woman cashier was so kind and comfortable that she was like an angel. Because of that woman,I want to call this store angel's house ...”

“Great vibe, but the mural on the back wall is something else… an incredible piece of art that celebrates so many of our home-town musicians. Thank you for helping keep music something you feel and touch.”

“Great bookstore, I wished I had more time to browse the whole shelves. Excellent collections, categories, genres, etc. On our short visit to downtown Seattle, this stop was very satisfying, I did purchase a couple of books.”

“Cozy, welcoming, exhaustive, not overly precious. Love Paper Boat. It's my local bookstore and go to place for all kids birthday gifts. The place isn't huge, but they always have the things I want or can get it shipped asap. They also have very well curated cute ephemera, tchotchkes, and gifts, and I always leave with at least one sheet of/ large puffy sticker as a motivation prize for the Child.”

“Has more figurines and merchandise than what I'd seen from Portland Kinokuniya. Absolutely loved the selection of Nenderoids! The upstairs/staircase are a tight squeeze sometimes and it can feel a little stuffy but otherwise great!”

“I enjoy going to Third Place Books. Heck, you can even get a burger and beer without leaving the building. I just discovered that many of their used books are interspersed amongst the books on their shelves (look for the yellow stickers), so it's a bit like an Easter egg-hunt ? I got lucky and found a copy of Game of Thones for $4, and Dune for $5. The bookstore isn't huge, but the selection is solid. The location, somewhat near Seward Park is quite nice with a nice coffee shop, pizza, pasta and other things nearby. It's a win-win. You'll probably have to park somewhere close-by as the parking lot seems perpetually full, though.”

“Best used and new bookstore I've ever visited! Pegasus is where I go anytime I'm moving on to my next read. No more online or big box book shopping for this household :) They also have the most reasonable and affordable trade-in programs! It actually encourages folks to buy used. The staff are incredible! They know books well -- ask for suggestions! You will not be disappointed. Their location is not convenient for me, but the 25 minute drive is worth it, every time. As long as we live in Seattle, Pegasus is the place we'll shop for books. In fact, I'm going today to get a couple books I have on hold. Thanks, Pegasus!!!”

“Lovely local bookstore! Good selection of books for children and adults, (did not really see any comics, but that's ok!) They sell a nicely curated collection of new and used titles and the clerk I spoke to was excited to have us! An excellent experience overall and a real gem of a bookstore!”

“Lovely bookstore with a wide selection! Prices are fair for most options but I felt children’s read alouds were a bit overpriced.
I found a few missing parts of my collection, which is so satisfying. My top suggestion is for the kids area to have a little toy or two in the back so parents and siblings can shop a bit longer and get those BOGO (10).”

“It’s been years since I lived in Seattle, but what I remember the most is the used bookstores. On a recent visit, I discovered the Literary Saloon, and I was reminded that there really are the most amazing used bookstores there.Mr. Johnson is the most masterful curator/literary merchant I have encountered on my most recent trip. He was happy to help, but really happy to let me look through every single pile like a crazy completist freak. Please, must be seen to be believed. If you are a thoughtful, smart, and widely read…this is where you will likely lose two hours of your vacation in the essays section.”

“A Seattle institution, founded in 1976, and located in a charmer of a brick and mortar in the historic Georgetown neighborhood, sharing opposite sides of a space with Georgetown Records, Fantagraphics is a great place to visit! Full of art, history and just plain fun publications, readers of all ages will find something cool.”

“Three Trees Books is a true gem. The store is beautifully curated. You can tell the owners have worked hard to create a space that radiates friendliness. Their online ordering system is also fantastic—easy to use and a great way to support a local treasure.”

“Absolutely loved our visit to this bookstore at Pike Place Market! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They have a delightful selection of children's books, like the adorable Bernstein Bears Valentine's edition we found for my son. A charming spot to explore and find treasures!”

“A thoughtful selection of architecture, design and books about the Built environment.Maybe the best selection of unique note pads I've seen. While including the classics.Staff is professional and helpful.Ground level entrance, in Post Alley, just East of Alaskan Way.Accessibility, ground level, brick pavement, slightly uneven to get to the store. Small Parking lot right next to the store. Store tiddy and easy to navigate.”

“I visited here for a gift for my kids while visiting Seattle, and I was very pleased with the options. The shop owner greeted me as I walked in and was very helpful in helping me to find a great toddler shirt for my son. I was surprised how hard it was to find a toddler shirt in the area, but this store had both a decent variety as well as cute options. I left very pleased with my purchase and my son wears his Seattle shirt as often as he can! I highly recommend this store.”

“Lamplight Books has a wide selection of genres to choose from with cleanly-printed labels along the bookshelves. Some have more titles than others. You can find both older and more recent books along with their price written on the first page in pencil. Given the nature of Pike Place Market being a large gathering of both large and small shops, the smaller area dedicated to the store was expected. If you don’t have issues with mobility, you can walk through the bookshelves; the spaces in-between are narrow. This store is more for passing through than a place to sit (or stand) and read. There is a book cart with discount titles for $1 each outside the store front and a table with regular-priced books as well.”

“Friendly, helpful staff & great selection of merchandise! Remembered my phone call from a couple of weeks ago and provided excellent customer service, resolving my problem quickly and efficiently.”

“Really attractive and comfortable independent poetry store. The owner is very friendly and helpful, and more than happy to suggest works of interest. They can also special-order any book not in stock.”

“This is the cutest store for kids and babies! The staff are friendly and helpful if you are looking for something in particular. I love that they have used stuff because kids go through things quickly and it’s more sustainable! You can sell your stuff to them as well. It’s just fun to be in there. It’s a colorful, cozy delight just to visit.”

“Excellent selection of graphic novels/comics, plus political theory, history, and gender studies, but even beyond their areas of focus, they always have something interesting I've never seen before or elsewhere.I personally really appreciated the mask policy, especially considering how hard it must be to ventilate that space.Customer service was excellent, and the vibes are immaculate.”
