“I've been enjoying my workouts at OTF for several months now. The coaches are truly inspiring, and the staff is always friendly, making each visit a positive experience. However, I recently encountered an unusual situation that left me puzzled.
I arrived right on time for my class and was the last person to check in. The front desk staff suggested I start on the rower, but I prefer starting on the treadmill because it makes my workout more effective. Noticing several empty spots on the treadmill side, I asked if I could start there instead. To my surprise, I was told I couldn’t, as they needed to keep the number of people on the treadmill and rower even.
This 'even' rule struck me as odd because I’ve attended classes where one side had more participants than the other without any issue. When I inquired further, I was told it was to ensure we worked out as a group, which didn’t quite make sense given there were only about 10 people in the class that day. If working out together is the priority, why not keep us all in one group instead of splitting us up?
I was also advised to arrive early next time to secure a treadmill spot, but with so many treadmills available, it seemed unnecessary to have to compete for one. This experience was a bit disappointing, especially since I've always valued the flexibility and understanding that OTF typically offers.
While I still enjoy my time at OTF, I hope they reconsider this approach to ensure that members can get the most out of their workouts, especially when there are ample resources available.”
“This place has gotten me through some really rough, tragic times. The machinery is great, the showers are great, and the air is always the right temperature. The only flaw would be the dress code. There shouldn't be, for Planet Fitness in general. We honestly should be able to workout in full suits of armor if we wanted to, because that means freedom. I actually got kicked out by some nerd one time for wearing my flip flops. Ridiculous! Other than that, very fun facility to bring family/friends.”
“I’ve worked with several trainers. Shon is incredibly knowledgeable and his experience with people of varying abilities and conditions is outstanding. I appreciated his thorough assessment at the start, and his push to make me grow, while slowing me down to understand the progression I need to make change safely.
I started working with Shon when I was diagnosed with osteoporosis and wanted to make sure I could rebuild bone safely. I trust him impeccably based on our interactive communication, the strength I’ve immediately gained (I was already moderately active coming in), and how I feel working with him. He tells you straight and more importantly listens. He’s open to learn, balancing it with his expertise. If you are wanting a partnership in a health and strength building journey, I highly recommend Shon.”
