“This place is 5*. Great coaches and people. I go for the "crossfit" style HIIT workouts they have during the day. What I like about Tacoma Strength is they focus more on Olympic lifting with less of the weird "hand stand pushup" type crossfit exercises in their HIIT classes. The saturday class is the best.”

“Amazing CrossFit gym. I may be biased, but I still claim it: best CF gym in Tacoma (no disrespect to the other great boxes in the area). The coaches are top notch, well-verses and highly skilled at all movements - from barbell exercises to all the body weight training CF employs.RCF provides a clean gym with tons of equipment, it’s centrally located in Tacoma, and the environment is welcoming, open, and challenging.I’ve made a bunch of great friends here on my journey, and as a proud member of this gym I can’t recommend it enough. You may think the workouts are too challenging, but they’re scalable. We have members of all genders, sexual orientation, various ethnicities - we’re a diverse community!What I love most is the expertise of the coaches. They’re highly trained, and are patient and encouraging. When I started a year and 1/2 ago, I could barely lift a barbell. “Well-equipped climbing gym with decent route setting. A bit dusty and grimy, but there’s a tight climbing community here. Good gym to top up your fitness while in Tacoma. This gym is definitely better equipped for bouldering rather than roped climbing.”

A someone who never does any form of cardio and definitely isn’t the definition of “highly fit,” its challenging for me to enjoy a workout class, but I was hooked after the first class!”

They are very knowledgeable and give spot on guidance on how to properly conduct the workout and the correct position your body needs to be to prevent injury. “I have been going to Taiso for almost four years now, and I cannot say enough positive things about this gym. Butch and Jennifer are encouraging and enthusiastic about the work they do--they're also both just really phenomenal people all around. It is a safe environment where you can come as you are, and you will quickly feel like you are a part of a big family. Many of the folks there have become my lifelong friends. Plus, the classes are amazing--you will definitely be challenged if you put the effort in, and it honestly feels like grown-up gym class (without the awkwardness). Cannot recommend Taiso enough.”

“Best gym experience I have ever had! They are on top of equipment maintenance, and it’s clean. Music is great. All of the trainers and gym members are great to be around - very welcoming. The owners have a passion for this profession and it shows. I train with Hannah and she makes going to the gym a joy, incredibly knowledgeable and hands down the best trainer I have worked with. It’s been a few months and not only have a lost quite a bit of weight, but I’ve gained so much muscle! The staff are all really fun and helpful people… I cannot say enough about this place. “I highly recommend Ascent for both group classes and personal training. I came in for a tour with Marissa and they immediately made me feel super comfortable. As someone who struggles to have a healthy relationship with food and exercise I was very intentional in seeking out a place where I could get stronger to allow me to be better at the physical activities I enjoy or would like to enjoy and not walk into a super diet, gains and bros kinda gym. I didn't want to be sold a diet or had my body commented on or be surrounded by that kind of talk. I struggle with staying consistent with activity and having classes that are laid back and have cool people while simultaneously being challenging is 100% my jam even if weights aren't yet my friend. I did my personal training sessions with Cam- they recommend training first so you are taught how to correctly do their most common exercises while being taught how to avoid injury etc. it's definitely not the cheapest gym you can find, but the quality and size (not too big or overwhelming) really make it worth it. He was really kind and definitely didn't mind having to repeat things or coaching me through more challenging things. I've since committed to paying for group classes once a week (between their hours, living 30ish minutes away and my schedule between work and dance, I didn't want to set myself up for failure by going to twice a week right away. The classes I've been to so far have been taught by Rachel and she's been a great coach. Looking forward to growing more into the Ascent fam. Also appreciate that they are a very inclusive group and very friendly to all humans (and dogs).”

“Love this gym. It’s exactly what I was looking for. A gritty, motivating atmosphere with plenty of high level equipment that you won’t find in most gyms. It doesn’t have that soft, corny feel of a commercial gym. If gladiators were still a thing, this is the type of gym they would train at.”

“This is my favorite Anytime Fitness in the state. I travel across the state and use a bunch of them, but I often travel 30+ miles out of the way to come here. It's never too crowded, they have a good selection of equipment, it's clean. I have plenty more to say about this gym but I'm mid set right now. I just wanted everyone to know that the environment is amazing here for both newbies and power lifters alike. When my membership from my other gym is up, I'm renewing it here for sure.”

Physically, I put on weight, I loose tone, my joints start feeling more painful, I loose motivation which adds up to some negative \u0026 grumpy thinking!!! Mentally, well, its huge. Its like a big family that doesnt judge you, completely accepts you and genuinely cares about you....not to mention supports you in so many ways!!!! “Solid gym equipment. I'm not into the wimpy isolation machines but there isn't too many of those here. I love loading up those plates on the barbells and sending them for a ride! Got some good spots to do some heavy deadlifting. The foam rollers are nice to help out my sore body. Ill be back here over and over again.”
