About Community Advocates
Community Advocates is a place that provides help and assistance. The organization offers services like rent assistance and energy bill payment for those in financial hardship or need. Many find the place amazing and a God send, with staff who calm people down and provide support. Some representatives personally reach out to landlords or pay bills on the spot, lifting a heavy weight for grateful clients. However, experiences can vary. The system has changed due to covid protocol and some feel it can be more effective. The phone IVR is described as ridiculous, with a need for a better call center. A few report frustrations like getting the run around, lost paperwork, long waits for information, and a lack of promised communication, which can be upsetting. There is often a wait for service, but the intent is to help for the better. The Community Advocates building itself, located at 728 North 6th Street in downtown Milwaukee, features a large, colorful, and artistic mural worth a visit for a photo. The mural is several stories tall, though nearby parking lot vehicles may cause obstructions. Adjacent buildings also have interesting historical advertising paintings.

Provides great services to the community, very difficult to call and have that call returned by staff.

If you apply for rent emergency assistance employed but out on leave and need a little help, this is not the place to go to. They do not assist you which is concerning!

Their system has changed because of covid protocol but it can be more effective. Just don't try to call them. That IVR is RIDICULOUS‼️ They need to hire people to create a call center as they have streamlined the actual service area.
