“It’s our first year with a kid playing hockey and the employee helped us with literally every single piece of equipment. Amazing customer service and tons of used options too!”

“Sentry Hardware is one of my favorite stores. If you can't find something hardware related they probably have it at Sentry. The last place I know of you can buy nails or screws by the pound.”

“Going to Big Ray’s was THE BEST decision. My group landed in Fairbanks with most of our layers, but two of us were missing snow pants that didn’t arrive in time. We walked in expecting a standard outdoors store, but were lucky enough to be greeted by Eli.Eli talked us through everything — pros and cons of snow bib vs. snow pants, the ins and outs of different brands, and what to expect at Fairbanks. We talked about what we brought with us to get a second opinion, and he was super helpful and honest. He even showed us the best way to put on toe warmers and hunted in the back for a missing size! Really went above and beyond for us.Every night we’d go aurora chasing, the happy customers in our group would comment something like: “Dude these pants are life changing. I can’t believe I feel pretty good in -10F weather. Shout out to our guy Eli!” It became a running joke, but in all seriousness — thanks Eli! Will be returning to Big Ray’s for our next Alaska trip.”

“One of two locations with the other downtown. Not a half bad Alaskan outfitter with a decent selection of name brand boots, jackets, shorts, shirts and really anything else any one might need before going out and braving the elements of the last frontier.”

“Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. They didn't answer the phone when I called, but did give me a call back! Plenty of surplus uniforms and equipment, spanning several decades. Picked up some snow shoes and old wool field pants. Definitely some "tacticool" offerings, but overall, it's a solid stock of US (and some foreign) military gear.”

“I needed a pair of good winter boots in between my mukluks and my arctic rubber boots that gives enough support for walking the dogs in varied conditions, provides good traction and is warm. I went to two other local (and locally owned) stores and quite literally could not get anyone to help me. I left both places frustrated and a friend reminded me to try beaver. I got immediate help without asking, and a manager even came down to look for a size we couldn't find and to offer her advice. They had a great selection, were knowledgeable, and the service was impeccable. Next time i need gear they'll be my first stop.”

“Pretty good for cold weather gear. They have quality stuff. It's a little expensive, but if you look it up on the internet it's the same price as in the store. The people were very friendly. I can see how a place like this could stay open and compete against the corporate stores.”

“Went in to famous footwear to buy some dress shoes. Skewing was not very latte but I did find what I needed. Store associates were greeted me upon entry and asked if I needed help.”

“Nice stuff. Bought a awesome hoodie at a great price. Really nice staff. Guy at my check out my age (Iam in my 50’s) was super cool and engaging. Never in the Fairbanks AK store but would go back. High quality stuff and everything you could need.”

“If you want to buy shoes in Fairbanks that aren't boots, Crocs, or generic...this is virtually the only place left. Considering the fact it's a small location, this Footlocker tends to get some of the new drops on Saturdays and that alone makes me feel not abandoned in the shoe department in central Alaska.”
