“I love going to the valley country store especially the church location where they have awesomely delicious ice cream of a ton of flavors depending on the day. Some are available some days and others not so much.”

“An excellent selection of German/Russian/Eastern European products, especially for Alaska. Love the deli meats and selection of canned fish and the variety of teas. Candy selection is impossible to pass by and the homemade breads and goods at the counter will instantly make you hungry. They are definitely worth coming back for! Counter service is nice even if there might be a language barrier for some. They try their hardest to help. This shop is a Valley gem and I hope it stays. It's been my favorite place to go for a little piece of my childhood for years now.”

“:: May 23 Update :: 5-Stars!

This afternoon an “unstable individual” began bullying an outstanding employee in Checkout Lane Two after having obvious difficulty navigating the payment phase of his shopping experience. He even tried to walk off with his groceries when his payment attempts were declined! He then became aggressive with the cashier, and barked ethnic slurs at me after I suggested that “she is trying to be helpful, Sir” in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. After shoving his cart out of the lane, he then rudely tried to re-enter the queue—oblivious to any sense of appropriate space & distancing (the woman in line with her daughter politely asked him to give her more space…he ignored her)—whereupon I explained that he wasn’t getting back into line anywhere but the end.

A split-second later two Carrs employees—apparently managers or leadership—rushed in to support the cashier and address the person’s behavior. They had clearly observed the gathering storm and quickly de-escalated the conflict.

Bravo, Carrs! It means a lot to me that the safety and well-being of your customers and employees is actively being considered—especially in a world where people choose to crash their car into the Wasilla police station!

This Carrs location has been my go-to for years, and it’s had some ups & downs in that time. The four stars instead of five are for a couple lingering rough spots: produce between Thursday evening & Monday morning is often pretty bare, and only recently did the store replace all the light bulbs! The difference after the light bulbs was INCREDIBLE— it even caused me to ask if there was going to be some sort of fire inspection! But I’d like to recognize the store for overall improvement, and some superstar staff for their contributions:

*John H. saved the day recently when a Rug Doctor I rented ended up being broken. I had gotten it all the way home & into the house before turning it on & (nothing)! I was very frustrated, but John refunded the charges when I didn’t want to risk trying another machine. Thanks, John!

*Cis at Checkout #2 is AWESOME! She processes your selections in a friendly and efficient manner everytime. I always hope to see Lane 2 lit up when I get to the store! Thanks, Cis!

*Ken in the wine shop is another rockstar! He knows his area from front to back, and can answer questions about items allday. Thanks, Ken!”

“Melody is the most exceptional cashier in all of Wasilla. There hasn’t been a time I stopped by and didn’t leave with a smile. She enjoys her job and does it very well. It’s nice having friendly people be the face of Alaskan businesses. I look forward to any time I get to swing by and say hello. ☺️

I absolutely love the ice cream machine, donut bar, and the soda fountain with flavors. What a great convention store!”

“I have always had a good experience at Walmart but recently when I went and was looking for something, I received the absolute best customer service ever. An employee noticed I was looking for a food item, and then asked me if I needed help. I said no at first to not bother anyone, but they were persistent to help me find what I needed and they pulled another employee and I got exactly what I was looking for.”

“Always a good clean place to shop for food and hunting and camping stuff , along with great seasonal selection. I like shopping at Three Bears because the prices are competitive with other local stores . The best part is this store is locally owned.”

“Having had a bunch of past medical issues going to the pharmacy is a part of life, and this is my favorite one I have used to date! The staff are all extremely hardworking, and at the same time certainly overworked, but they show up every day and do their absolute best! They are friendly, kind, and considerate and do their best to go out of their way to help you if it is possible unlike many other pharmacies.”

“It's a great and convenient one-stop shop. My complaint is that the parking lot is odd for entrance and exit. But mostly they have a poor entrance layout and bottlenecking tendency that happens near the jewelry and clothing entrance of this store. There is some crowding in certain aisles, but perhaps that is due to seasonal stuff? Other than that, staff are friendly, store is kept clean, and they have pretty good selections. Overall, a good shop, but could use a better layout/flow indoors and out.”

“This is a conveniently located gas station, that has a coveted outhouse restroom, and small attached liquor store. Has nice availability of drinks and snacks inside as well. With a coffee shack strategically placed in the corner of the lot.”

“I was recently given a bracelet for a gift that was purchased at Fred Meyers. After I had it sized I attempted to wear it. I wore it three times. Each and every time I wore it, the bracelet fell off my wrist. Lucky for me, I found it each time. I stopped wearing the bracelet and a couple of months later I took it to the store for them to fix it. The salesgirl agreed it was defective and then told me they could fix it for a sum of $72.00. I asked why should I pay for a defective product to be fixed. She had no answer. I asked for the manager to phone me about the issue as the manager was not available. To date, one week later, I have received no call nor any acknowledgement that they will fix the defective clasp. DO NOT PURCHASE AT FRED MEYERS JEWELRY. They will sell you a defective product and refuse to fix it. In order to post this review I had to give them a star rating. I would have preferred to give them a zero rating.I have an update. Yesterday the manager of the store got in touch with me. I met with her today, and the store will fix my bracelet at no charge to me. Yeah! I will change my review to four stars.”

“They always have a great variety of high quality meats, and what I really love is every time I go there is something new or different, even if it's just one thing.”
