“I’m visiting from Texas right now and my best friend just happens to live in Phoenix so we decided to walk around Old Town! I’m so glad we did because we stumbled into this gem of a gallery. My friend and I are both artists so we had an absolute blast looking at all the amazing paintings, sculptures, and photography (and more actually!), however, the real gem at this gallery is Mark! He immediately welcomed us in and told us to make ourselves comfortable, spoke to us throughout our visit to give us the background on various artists and point out things we might have missed in the paintings, and talked about certain styles and techniques. I have never been in a gallery with someone as passionate as Mark and I wish I lived locally so I could attend the book clubs and art walks they host! Such a cool space. Do not skip this. It’s 100% worth it.”

“It's a small shop but has a huge reach! Located in Old Town Scottsdale, the @poisonedpenbookstore has so much to offer. Between author signings, virtual events, and book discussions, their calendar is booked almost every day. You can even join one of their many book clubs, and you'll be charged and shipped the monthly book automatically. There are hundreds of signed copies to peruse, or find a new book by an author who is coming soon to the store. This is also the place to pick up any book by famed local author Diana Gabaldon, writer of the Outlander series. I walked away with a few books on my first visit (and kicking myself for never visiting before). They have a book case with each shelf dedicated to a different employee so that they can share their favorite books. I found the stack that seemed to be my style of books and picked one to buy. I also grabbed a couple of free books that they set out as they can't sell them due to being early reads sent by the authors. "Your local bookstore, no matter where you live." It's a great tagline, and it really fits. Check out their website or, even better, stop in!”

“I was looking for magic toys for my grandsons (5 & 10 years of age). Sarah (I hope I got that right) greeted me as I walked in the door and took me right to the area I was looking for. I found several toys, and books and even bought a birthday present which they wrapped for me. I highly recommend them from a selection and customer service standpoint. Thank you, I know you made me look like a hero!”

“Online shopping is wonderful especially when you need things that are incredibly difficult to find in stores. Im super grateful for this store, not only do they have a large selection of items but their online system allows you to see what they have in store (and the store is so lovely btw). Very convenient, one day I wanted to make my husband a rosary and instead of buying one I went to this store and got all the supplies I needed.”

“It was a great spiritual life for me. Talked with Sandy the manager. She is truly blessed by her dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May this book center always be open.”

“So glad I found Gifts Anon. What an outstanding selection of everything Anon. I wish there were more stores like this in Phoenix, however, I am so happy that this one exists!Huge bonus that it’s right next to the North Scottsdale Fellowship Club!”

“If you are walking on campus you will see this book store. BEWARE. Arty the Artichoke sometimes hangs around here. He can get into moods some times. One time there was this student in there wearing a Mesa Community College shirt because she was taking classes at both campuses and just needed a book for a class at MCC. Arty goes up to her and says "why! is my school not good enough for you?" He then said that no one was aloud to sell her the book unless she bought a Scottsdale Community College t-shirt, went to the bathroom and changed, then went up to the counter to buy it. She left the place in tears.”

“Scottsdale Bible Church, located at Shea and 76th Street, is a large beautiful campus with a great cafe! Park and then follow the palm tree lined walkway to the cute cafe. It's a roomy space offering quick service breakfast and lunch. (Online, I see that they have a cafe at their Fountain Hills and North Ridge locations as well, but the menus are limited and only open on Sunday mornings.) My breakfast sandwich was yummy! It was ham, egg, cheese, and chipotle sauce on a brioche bun. I had an infused red bull, but they have a full coffee bar. They also offer salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, and kid's small plates. There are plenty of tables inside and out. The cafe is also a bookstore with plenty of faith-based reading. I don't know what it looks like the rest of the year but there are beautiful displays of holiday items to shop lining the cafe. I've said it before, but churches have great cafes. Added bonus: there are always some great discussions going on around you”

“Always very clean. Cashiers remember returning customers and are very nice. They have plenty of books for each genre, although it's not as big as most b&ns. Workers always offer me help. Great place to go! My kids love coming here, too.”
