“This is my favorite place in Phoenix!
The book store is adorable, it has personal recs on employee’s favorites and lots of variety. It’s a great place to buy a gift, there are lots of cute little items. The staff are always welcoming and helpful, and I love that is such a queer and progressive space.”

“This is my favorite place to buy children's birthday gifts for birthday parties, it's so fun to be in this space. I've met the owner working the register a few times and she's just a delight. When she's not in, other staff are just as lovely and helpful.”

“Absolutely amazing space. The people there were very helpful in the space itself had so many books I'd never seen, before, including from multi cultural authors all around.”

“Many, many, many, many, many books in EVERY genre! They also have games, magazines, greeting cards, records, and comic books. The staff is super friendly and helpful, but prices (for mostly used books) were a bit high for me. The best deal was on bundles of books which were mostly mass market paperbacks - Danielle Steele, John Grisham, romance, etc. Bundles had 5 paperback books for $11.99 and 5 hardcover books for $19.99. They have an amazing selection in a very small space. If you are looking for specific books, this is a great local business to visit!”

“Most brilliant selection of books with art and style that crafts a beautiful atmosphere—not to mention the delicious drink options for coffee/tea lovers. Palabras is so important to this community and should always be chosen over some bs corporate store like Starbucks or Barnes & Noble. Buy local!”

“Pretty sure this is the Joe Goldbergs book shop, they must of moved it from new York and changed the name. I’m pretty sure the cage is behind a locked door in the back. Also the owner looks like Mooney”

“Definitely a hole in the wall bookstore. Need to search a bit to find what you want. But there are tons of books, and you are most likely going to find something good to buy!”

“This is one of my favorite music stores to visit and buy from! I’ve been a customer since 2003 and just visited on a recent trip to AZ. Central Music has a wide selection of music-related books and sheet music. I play Saxophone, so I enjoy exploring the many options available. I bought Slominsky’s “Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns”, “Intervals in Action” by former Phoenix resident and amazing Saxophonist who transcribed several Stan Getz solo books Greg Fishman and Greg Alper, and “220 Chromatic Exercises and 1165 Jazz Lines Phrases” by Olegario Diaz.

The big box music store national chains - which have pretty much become extinct - used to carry a very narrow and limited inventory of music books. Central Music is the exact opposite!

The Staff at Central Music is always welcoming, helpful, and maintains a lot to choose from for many musical styles and genres.

Plus, when you buy from
Central Music, they hand you a punchcard that’s worth up to a $4 discount based on your past purchases. (The card photo of just the orange punchcard is one I had tucked in my wallet, but forgot to take with me - it is several years old and still valid! Next time! ?)

Worth stopping by regardless of the instrument you make music with!”

“Always a blast to go into a Barnes and Noble. You can keep finding amazing books from so many different genres. Sometimes going down memory lane. Anytime I go there I have troubles not choosing so many books 😄”

They have it all at a great price. And when you’re done, they’ll buy them back. There’s no downside.”

“Chester and Dunia were extremely helpful while helping me a couple of items in store for an order. The order would have taken me hours without their help so they definitely were amazing. I'd rate six out of five stars.”

“Really enjoyed my espresso from here! Was well-pulled, rich and flavourful. In fact, it was the best spro I had in Phoenix!

They’ve curated a really neat group of items here too — from the furniture to the books.”

“Lots of religious items some things cheap and other items are expensive. I spent a good amount of time in the store because of the amount of inventory they have to look at. I was looking for a candle of the sacred heart of Jesus and no doubt I found one. Definitely worth the drive getting there. I will be back for a rosary, they are beautiful. ✝”

“ohmygoddess... I love this place so much!!! Every crystal, tarot/oracle deck, candle, book, and metaphysical tool you could ever want is right here in Phoenix! They have herbs and incense, too! Oh and affordable psychic readings AND aura photography! I love that the prices aren't jacked up and unaffordable. Super friendly human at the checkout, too. Only complaint is that I waited too long to visit! This is definitely my new fav shop.”

“I love the niche things in life including this store! Wide World Maps is a chain and is really specific but what they do, they do well. The interior feels a lot like waling into a book store and the vibe definitely carries once you talk to the store manager. If you have any questions, and you probably should if you're walking into this place, the front desk manager will be able to help you with the intelligence and experience of a seasoned librarian who knows exactly where every book in their library is. If you like learning and looking at maps, dreaming about visiting remote areas some day this, is the spot for you. A really fun aspect of walking into the store is asking what sorts of interesting maps they carry. I personally really loved the map of Phoenix superfund sites created by FEMA. It's beautiful enough to hang on a wall but still useful enough to reference it several times per month. My favorite aspect of wide world is the funny collection of people who come in to shop. The whole store is full of quirky interesting people who will talk your ear off about an interesting map they discovered in a garage sale. You'll have a blast just socializing here. Finally, I will add, even though the prices f the maps aren't cheap, their quality reflects in the price. Every map I have purchased here is an awesome, high quality, doesn't rip or fade, and is awesome to look at.”

“One of the finest museum shops in the country!! Be sure to allow time to browse the fabulous collection of authentic Native American jewelry, pots, baskets, katsinas, weavings and more. Prices range from $25 to $25,000+ but there is something for everyone! Also check out the separate Books and More shop across the plaza for tee shirts, cards, and kids' goodies!”

“Bookstores aren't what they used to be. Then again, what is? About 50% books and the other half just random, semi associated items, overpriced and underwhelming. The book selection is great for what they carry. I just wish they carried more!”

“They only dont have the quran that ibn Masud had that uthman burned even though Mohammed told you to learn from ibn Masud. Oh and they dont have the injil. Godlogic apologetics”

“Didn’t expect people to bring shopping carts to a book sale but those kinds of people shine brightly here. Big warehouse, so many books and book lovers picking them like they’re apples and strawberries. Really puts you in the “go-go-go” mood but i only got seven books and enjoyed the atmosphere/people watching. Also, they don’t accept donations. So don’t bring the books you didn’t like with ya…And another thing, parking is $12.”

“super cool place , I picked up some USGS topo maps (and ended up with a lot of other stuff) and browsed for a while. I would have stayed longer but it was getting close to closing time. Really helpful person working there, it's definitely worth going if you are even remotely interested in maps. there are lots of history and guide books also”

“Susie from the bookstore... I cannot rave about you enough! The level of attentiveness from this woman left me feeling so taken care of. This is my first time enrolling at a different maricopa community college and I didn't have the best experience with the online book purchasing process but all I can say is that Susie keeping me updated and helping me the best way she could was what made me have an overall pleasant experience.”
