IKEA Plans to Open 10 New U.S. Stores in 2026
The Swedish home furnishings giant announced it will open 10 new U.S. stores in 2026 - up from the six originally planned. The expansion comes after a strong 2025 fiscal year that saw the company post $5.3 billion in total sales, including $1.9 billion in e-commerce.
The new locations will pop up across the country:
- Culver City, Calif. (IKEA's first city-center store in Los Angeles)
- Tulsa, Okla. (the first IKEA in the state)
- Gurnee, Ill.
- Fort Collins, Colo.
- Huntsville, Ala.
- Phoenix, Ariz.
- University Park and Rockwall, Texas (Dallas area)
- Webster, Texas
- Chantilly, Va.
If all goes as planned, California and Texas will each have 10 IKEA stores. Meanwhile, a Memphis location will close in May.
"Fiscal year 2025 was a year of meaningful connection and growth despite a challenging external environment," said Rob Olson, interim CEO of IKEA U.S. "We strengthened our ability to serve customers through new store formats, digital innovation and expanded rewards, all while reinforcing our commitment to communities and the environment."

The numbers back that up. IKEA welcomed nearly 61 million visitors to its stores and over 457 million online visitors during the 2025 fiscal year, which ran from September 2024 through August 2025. Its Family Rewards loyalty program hit 25 million members - a 17% jump year over year.
During that same period, IKEA opened 14 new U.S. locations, including two small-format stores and nine "Plan & Order Points" - boutique-style locations where customers can work with representatives to design rooms and place orders for delivery.
"Looking ahead to FY26, we will build on this momentum, focusing on continued investment in the U.S. to make IKEA more affordable, accessible and sustainable," Olson added.
IKEA currently operates 54 U.S. retail locations and remains the only primarily brick-and-mortar home furnishings company among the nation's top 50 retailers, according to the National Retail Federation. The company also ranked first on the 2025 American Innovation Index, ahead of Apple, John Deere, Amazon and Microsoft.
