Target Opens Seven Supersized Stores with Enhanced Services
Target is opening seven new stores this fall across Arizona, California, Florida, Nebraska, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia, with six of the locations exceeding the company's average store size of 125,000 square feet.
The fall openings come during a period of leadership transition at Target. Longtime CEO Brian Cornell announced in August he would step down effective February 1, following struggling sales and consumer backlash. COO Michael Fiddelke will take over as CEO while Cornell moves to executive chair of the board.
The company's second quarter showed net sales fell 0.9% to $25.2 billion, while store sales dropped 3.2%. Despite the decline, Target is moving ahead with expansion plans.

"They're the latest examples of the more than 300 new stores we plan to build during the next decade as we aim to serve even more consumers," Target said on its website. The company opened 23 new stores last year and has announced plans to exceed $15 billion in sales growth by 2030.
Five stores will open October 12:
Queen Creek, Arizona (37854 N Gantzel Road)
Wesley Chapel, Florida (27920 Pink Flamingo Lane)
Grand Island, Nebraska (3400 West 13th Street)
Indian Land, South Carolina (5345 Crossridge Boulevard)
South Riding, Virginia (24670 Arcola Landing Drive)
Two additional locations will open October 19:
Fresno, California (205 South Clovis Avenue)
Stafford, Texas (12565 Arc Lane)
The Arizona store spans 146,000 square feet and marks Target's second location in Queen Creek. The Florida store covers 149,000 square feet and represents Target's third new Florida opening this year. The Nebraska location brings Target to Grand Island for the first time, offering 148,000 square feet of retail space.
Each new store employs between 130 and 200 team members, with starting wages ranging from $15 to $24 per hour depending on role and location. Target also provides tuition-free education assistance to employees.
The stores support Target's "stores-as-hubs" model, where locations serve both as shopping destinations and fulfillment centers. Target's stores fulfill 95% of digital orders, including same-day delivery through Target Circle 360, which reaches 80% of the U.S. population.

"There's an energy and camaraderie in our stores that's hard to describe," said Chief Stores Officer Adrienne Costanzo, who started at Target 20 years ago. "It's a culture of caring, growing and winning together that not only helps us bring out the best of Target for our guests, but also the best in each other."
All locations feature expanded fresh grocery sections with 13,000 to 16,000 square feet of produce, meat and dairy. Most include Apple at Target shops, CVS Pharmacy locations, Starbucks cafes, and services like Drive Up and Order Pickup.
