About Port Place Shopping Centre
Port Place Shopping Centre is a convenient local mall with plenty of amenities. It is situated at the foot of Nanaimo Harbour, close to downtown. The mall offers most everything needed at one stop, including a bank, a casino, various eating joints, Thrifty Foods, and London Drugs. Dollarama is a favorite for cheap snacks and supplies. There is plenty of free parking and a bus loop nearby for extra convenience. It is a good place to spend some time, especially for those waiting for the ferry. Many note feeling safe around the mall with security everywhere, though some advise caution late at night. The businesses within have very friendly staff.

Love how close everything is. Can usually find what you need in a one stop shop.

Was all good until we used a cart to go to the marina with 4 cases of water and full groceries, part way there the wheels locked up, security feature. Learned from a passerby we can leave a deposit and ID to get a cart to use from the store. The teller knew and didn't tell us. Live and learn, good store though.
