“Had to get a blood draw a couple of times for my 4-year-old son and the staff was excellent. Both staff members helped with the draw to make sure everything went smoothly and he was comfortable. They were very accommodating, gentle, and sweet to my son. They got his blood first try and let him pick the color of his bandage and we were on our way. We called a couple of highly rated mobile services because we thought it would be better but they were expensive, unaccommodating, and actually more inconvenient. If you have a young one and want a painless process, go here.”

“The UCLA Medical Lab Westlake Village is truly an amazing facility. I suffer from Ehlers-Danlos and have extremely small veins; any type of blood draw hurts beyond belief and can continue hurting for hours after, depending on the phlebotomist. To my great surprise, I was a walk in, with zero issues and only 5 minutes wait. I told the person at the desk about my sensitivity, and they were very comforting. I was then attended to by Bivory Johnson, who is probably THE best phlebotomist I have ever encountered. I felt no pain, it was incredible. She is so talented, and such a nice person. I would go back any day, if I could have Bivory Johnson as my healthcare professional. Ask for her!”

The young woman doing the blood draw was also acting as the receptionist— as in there was no dedicated support staff. Her and her male coworker seemed utterly exhausted, and their manners weren’t impressive as a result. (Heavy sarcasm, combative tone, passive aggressive comments, seemed to resent each person that came into the facility). The blood draw was easy, fast, no issues. I am going to assume this location is chronically understaffed, and the workers are taking on multiple roles without adequate support, and it is affecting their moods and bedside manner. Get these workers some support!”
