“Went there with Alex to purchase two Penny Farthings for his San Jose bike shop. He bought a silver and black one. We loaded it in his beat up green rusty old van. It was a spilritual experience. Greg was humble, fair. Gave us a discount on the black because it was very slightly used and the silver one (I think was made of stainless steel). Alex enlisted me to help him because I had a little experience riding scrappy original Penny Farthings in the Antelope Valley in Lancaster Fair parades and in Rosamond at the Tropico Gold Mine Chili contests.”

“I came into the shop tonight after getting glass in my tire earlier tonight. I fully expected to be told that there is a two week waitlist for repairs, but John said go ahead and bring your bike in and I’ll take a look. John spent the next 45 minutes, not just fixing my immediate problem but giving me lots of education about welcome advice on how to avoid the issue in the future and diagnosing several other issues I didn’t even know were going on with my bike. While he was repairing my bike, John also informed me about several trails in the area and the cycling club which I plan on joining soon. I am so grateful for his unpretentious and super helpful attitude. I can see why the cycle club calls him MacGyver! I am definitely a customer for the rest of my days in Alameda. Thank you, John.”

I’ve gone in with simple questions regarding bike parts, tire repair questions, installation requests and they’ve always been very knowledgeable and helpful. “My radwagon had a brake cable snap; this is a car replacement so not being able to ride means not taking kids to/from school or getting to work. Other bike stores quoted me days or more of wait times. Westside Joe's took care if it that evening, while I waited, holding my baby. The tech, Jaylen, was excellent and now my brake works much better than before. This is the second or third time Westside Joe's has taken care of something same-day for me. Very much appreciate their service!”
