“SIYA is a gem! This place isn’t comparable to any other Indian clothes shopping experience I’ve had. Found out about them from a family member who always has the best outfits. It’s my go to spot now. Their selection is fantastic, offering a wide range of high-quality options for all occasions. The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and Sonu is super helpful—both really go out of their way to style you for the events you're shopping for. I was able to get several outfits for my brother's wedding and my best friend's wedding within a day, and every piece was unique and beautiful. They even tailored everything, and the fit was perfect. One blouse needed to be fixed again and they were so kind and quick about it. They truly care that their clients are well taken care of. The prices reflect the quality you’re getting—well worth it! I also found gorgeous matching jewelry to complete my looks that the owner hand selected and was patient while I figured out what I liked best. My husband got three outfits and couldn’t be more excited to have high-quality Indian clothes, from a hassle free, fast, and easy shopping experience. Highly recommend SIYA for anyone looking for stunning Indian fashion with top-notch service!”

“The selection of gifts are vibrant, uniquely designed, and thoughtfully curated. I appreciated how the store owner allowed me to pair and match various baskets even though they were filled with inventory. I was able to pick up last-minute Christmas presents from Nepal, Kenya and India. If you are looking to add more color or geometric designs to your household, there's a drool-worthy section of constellation-inspired houseware (like salt cellars with stars on them) and beautiful basket planters all over the shop.”

“I love this shop. It's so unique and well laid out - with amazing, high quality, special/beautiful items, such as clothing - all displayed beautifully, and appealingly. I've bought indigo jeans there, T-shirts with cool designs, as well as fragrances. These purchases will last.I have always gotten so much thoughtful, positive guidance from staffperson Frances. She knows the products, and has helped me each time to find the right thing for me. Her own fashion sense/style is inspiring as well!I'm also very glad the shop is open post-Covid, while so many businesses had to close. Thank you Foxglove!”

“I love this shop. It's my neighborhood place to go for everything I could possibly want when it comes to shopping for new clothing, shoes and accessories. I love popping in at least once or twice a month. When I visit, I like to survey the store and I always seem to find something new or what I want. The merchandise is of quality brands , with trendy and unique items that make it the boutque it is. The staff and owners are friendly and helpful, and are a long time buiness. I kind of consider them a neighborhood institution. They are a huge anchor in this distric. One of my go to's.”

“When I came across this store it was as if the clouds had parted to let the sun shine down on me. Yeah I’m exaggerating but it’s a cool store and the dude who runs it seems laxed. But when he asks you “how much do you think it’s worth?” I recommend quoting some outrageous price and wait for his counter offer. I mean it’s negotiating 101. But when you’re desperate for money, you’ll just be happy if somebody is willing to pay you anything. A mistake I shan’t make again. Yes I do recommend this spot for every hipster rocking a man purse and a cardigan and a SnapBack. Oh my god I just described myself. Bummer?”

“As someone who's pregnant and seriously struggling to find clothing that’s both comfortable and cute, stumbling into Cotton Basics felt like discovering a hidden treasure. It’s not a maternity store, but honestly? It was better than any maternity clothing I've found—because everything is so soft, so stretchy, and made from such high-quality cotton that it fit my growing belly like a dream.

I walked in just hoping to find one or two things that didn’t make me want to rip them off after 10 minutes... and I walked out with an entire new wardrobe! Pieces that feel like a warm hug, but still look chic enough to wear out and about. Total game-changer. I've already gotten so many compliments and multiple people I know now want to get the pieces I purchased!

And then there’s Karen, the absolute angel of an associate who helped me. She went above and beyond—bringing me different styles and sizes, calling other stores to find my favorite pieces in the colors I loved, and even writing down the item names so I could easily reorder from where I live in Boston. That kind of care and personal attention? You don’t find it often. She made me feel so taken care of—and helped me navigate my changing body with great recommendations!

I’m officially obsessed. Cotton Basics is now my go-to for pregnancy and beyond. Can’t recommend it enough—for anyone who loves comfort, softness, and that rare combo of simplicity + style. Thank you, Karen!! I’ll be shopping from afar, but this store has my heart.”

“I've walked by this store many times. I always paused or slowed down because of the great window displays but never walked in: I mean, do I need another pair of earrings?Turns out I do! (And for less than $40!)I also needed very chic trousers a bit reminiscent of Katharine Hepburn, that I can wear all year, because I need all the help as I can get to reach my goal of casual elegance - still unattained but these things will get me closer, lol.Whoever does the buying has a great design sense. Great place to pick up gifts, too. The whole experience - ambience, lovely young woman who helped me, beautiful things I wouldn't find on Amazon - was such a nice boost that I felt moved to bother to write a review! And because I previously overlooked the shop, I thought I'd point it out to others. It reminded me that shopping IRL is usually way more fun and effective for clothes and gifts, and that I'm relieved that retail and Oakland are not dead. And so conveniently located near La Farine, Cole Coffee...”

“Was about to order online, but instead popped into this location because it was nearby!! Staff was incredibly kind and helpful, offered an alternative when the item i was looking for did not come in a specific color, and ended up loving the alternative more than the original item! I will 100% be returning, great customer service!”

“Personal Pizazz is the type of boutique one could imagine finding on 5th Avenue or Milan. Instead, in the heart of Elmwood in College Avenue. Great selection of the finest—clothing, accessories (hats, scarves, jewelry)—& the proprietor is very helpful. You won’t be disappointed!

My latest necklace from her jewelry armoire.”

“I came across the bows and arrows website when trying to find some stüssy shorts, they were 40% Off and when you include shipping were actually cheaper than buying them in the UK!
They arrived from California to England in 6 days, and I am so happy with what I have bought!
I haven't been to California yet but if I do I'll definitely visit!
10/10 Experience”

“these guys are very cool and their reasonable with the returns. I had a situation where my mother was Hurtt and I went to visit her long story short to stay put me out over my return. But the manager working there was kind enough to return the item, of course the item had tags and was never used and I’m sure they had all kinds of customers for the jacket, but the point is that was cool of them”

“The owner was very nice and helpful to everyone in the store. Showed me right to the coveralls and guessed my size dead on. All in all, one of the best shopping experiences I've had in the Bay Area.”

“Stopped by to get some jeans for my wife’s new job. She wasn’t sure of her size, or what she wanted - really annoying customer! But Marissa upstairs and the folks downstairs helped her walk away with two pairs she wont stop gushing over. Def will be recommending to friends and family in the area!”

“The owner is a very kind, thoughtful person. I think that some consignments shops have not done well during these last 2.5-3 years, in the response to tightening of the belt. The demographic in this part of the Bay Area has been downsizing, so there may be some bargains to be had. Stop and take a look, you may be pleasantly surprised.”

“Stopped in to have a sweater de pilled and ended up finding so many things. Great selection of Mother jeans, fun shoes and of course the beautiful sweater we know and love from Margaret O’Leary. Jamila and her associate were very helpful and worked as a team thru check-out. She gave me honest feedback about the fit and brought me a few options I would have never considered. It was one of the best shopping experiences I’ve had in a long time. Thank you!”

“Thank you so much to Ricky, the manager of Fall Rush in Berkeley. We were in town to move our daughter into the dorm for her freshman year. We wanted to get some CAL merch, but the other stores were all closed. Apparently, Fall Rush was also supposed to be closed, but Ricky and some of his employees stayed open to accommodate the many people who were in a similar situation as we were. Super grateful to have such incredible customer service and great selection of products, too!”

“I had such AMAZING customer service at this store. This was my first time shopping at Berkley, And i came into the store after having HORRIBLE customer service at Sari Palace, and the 3 people working here gave me the BEST customer service I have ever had. I am a bigger size, and I know it can be hard to find things in my size but the people working and owner were still SUPER nice to me and showed me so so so many beautiful options and pieces. The amount was just right and I am so so happy with the service. Customer service really makes a difference. Thank you Roopam Sarees for being plus size friendly and not making me feel ashamed of my body and giving me the right service. I will be recommending this store to all of my family friends and people I know for the future.”

“I had an amazing experience at Sari Palace! I needed several outfits for a wedding in India and also had a few pieces from years ago that needed alterations. Their selection is incredible—so many beautiful options across different styles and price ranges. Davinder was especially helpful in finding pieces that fit my style, and their tailoring made sure everything fit perfectly. The customer service was outstanding, and I’m so happy with what I got. I can’t wait to wear my beautiful outfits! Highly recommend!”

“Have some items to look into selling @ Crossroads. Looked into listing on PoshMark and sending off to ThredUp for them to list but it's better on the environment to go through Crossroads because it saves on shipping each item to each buyer. The display on the mannequins is always very cheerful when you walk by on Shattuck. It's near the Central Library.”
