“The backpack giveaway this past Saturday was BOMB! Jumpers, nachos, plenty school supplies and backpacks, free haircuts, and a safe environment! Job well done! Looking forward to next year! Thank you all for giving back to the community!”
“My new favorite shop! They have an amazing selection of nudie jeans and so many other great brands. The owners were so helpful, and had a lot of wisdom to share about women’s jeans and fits which was helpful. Will definitely come back.”
“Came in to support FAB. Always nice to see the King of the Hyphy Movement. Unc wasn’t there kinda disappointed I didn’t get to meet his funny personality. Highly recommended for all family and folks. Support small business.”
“This business goes above and beyond for customers. Years ago when they were at their old location, an OUSD high school student of mine was interested in clothing design and small business. My husband liked this brand, so my student and I reached out to Oakland’s Own’s owner. Right away, he was receptive, warm, and encouraging.
We’ve since bought shirts and a jacket for ourselves and family.
More recently, I ordered kids’ clothing. They communicated a restock delay and EVEN BROUGHT IT TO ME to make sure I could gift it in time to out of town family.
I can’t recommend this business enough. And everything we’ve ordered has always been fire. The designs are hella unique and consistently great quality. Plus it’s run by good folks!
Thank you Oakland’s Own. Hella proud to rep the Town with your gear.”
“The staff members were super-friendly and honest about the fit of my hoodie when I was last here a while back. I ended up getting a more slim-fitting one and it actually sort of keeps me motivated to exercise and keep trim (just so I can fit in it). I get compliments on it often.
The selection of products is nicely curated. You'll find things here that you won't easily find at other stores.
Every time I visit Oakland I try to poke my head into this shop to see what's in store (literally).”
“This spot is dope. High quality goods all around. Good music and the employees are helpful. My cousin couldn’t afford the shoes he wanted but they offered him $15 off the listed price. They have some stuff marked 30-50% off too. I copped a brand new pair of clean AF1s for $80”
“They need to hire someone to keep inventory especially for shopping bags customer's need bags for the products they buy unless they're about to pull that bring your own bag crap ??♀️”
“This little shop had a cool selection of high quality brands and local made items. Would highly recommend if you're looking for interesting prints, and colors that aren't boring neutrals! I bought two bandanas that are totally unique and lovely quality.”

“I brought in a beautiful leather jacket that needed the sleeves to be shorter by 1.5 inches. They did a great job with standard prices. I love wearing my jacket now!”
“This local store is a wonderful find, offering a curated selection of organic and natural beauty products, including 100% OIL perfumes (not infused with alcohol many stores used to cut their products to make a profit), massage oils, soaps, crystals and incense. The owner's decades of expertise, engaging personality, positive vibes and kind demeanor create a welcoming atmosphere and a truly positive shopping experience. I go there to get my hard to find China Rain body oil perfume that has been a classic, popular light scent in The Bay Area since the 70's. Please support local and black-owned businesses.”
“Out of curiosity of this little shop I took a peek and it truly is a gem! The shop owner was extremely kind and welcoming. They were very attentive to any questions I had and had such a nice aura to them! The jewelry was indeed my favorite part as there are so many different designs. The scarves are very beautiful as well! Overall 10/10 there is so much to discover in this little shop.”

“Flew into town with no luggage not expecting a long stay luckily this Ross dress for less was not far. Considering the amount of mixed aged Clothing- I was still able to come up with something the location is super convenient next to the beauty supply that has all of the accessories that they don’t I might make traveling without luggage a thing now. Thanks Ross in the photo we have a Tommy Hilfiger waterproof purse, a pair of red strappys found in the shoe section a urban nation jersey and a button down sports bra by pro fit seamless”
“This was my 1st choice for a well deserved birthday party in Las Vegas. It was requested to honor the birthday person with RED Attire. She had contributed many years of support and service for a specific purpose. I equally determined to honor Proper Fashions with my purchase. As I feel the love all the time here. I left satisfied. Might I add, The Label choice made it even a better experience as the company tag read: KOKOMO Unlimited! My mother wrote an original song using “KOKOMO” Wowwwwwww Gene and Eunice on YouTube”
“My favorite local shop when I’m searching for gifts or something special to treat myself. I always know what I find inside will be beautiful and thoughtfully curated. Everyone who works here is also super kind and wonderful to chat with, too!”
“They have a plus size section!!! Also unique colorful clothes and fun vibes. They were playing Labyrinth on the tv when I was in. Prices were also quite reasonable for a curated vintage shop, from what I was looking at around $25-$50 per piece. Definitely one of my new favorite vintage shops in the Bay.”
“I purchased some jeans GAP online during at 50% off sale. However, one pair did not fit well and I wanted to exchange it for a slim cut. Not having had to do an online return, I text chatted with a customer service rep and she explained the steps to return the pants, reorder and pay for the new pants and that it would take up to 25 business days for my return to be processed and credit to be issued. Not wanting to deal with the process, I decided to do the exchange at a store. GAP has been closing many locations and stores are few and far in between. Luckily the nearest store was only 9 miles away at the Lakeshore area and I found a parking space down the block. There was no wait and I was able to walk up to the cashier and explained my intent to do an exchange. She said I would be credited for my purchase, but I would have to purchase the new jeans at the current price and not at the price I paid, which didn't make sense. She said she would get a manager to help me. A manager came and I explained my situation and he checked if the pants I wanted was in stock and it wasn't. So he ordered it online and it would be sent to me and processed my return. The pants went down in price so I even go a credit for the difference. I was happy to get my exchange done at the store and not have to deal with the steps required for an online return. It was not simple like a return on Amazon. Though the cashier did not understand the exchange I wanted to transact, I appreciated that the manager made the exchange transaction seamlessly.”
“Amazing atmosphere and amazing products! They also have exclusive shoes (not marked up prices either) that you can come up on if your lucky. The staff is phenomenal! Definitely coming back.”
“That's a real gem in downtown Oakland. If you are looking for a nice gift for friends, family or yourself, chances they have something really nice there! Products are local, carefully sourced, staff always ready to help. Highly recommended.”

“Every time I've dropped by this location, the sales person's have been professional and helpful.
Besides having cool Oaklandish merchandise, they have a huge collection of Oakland Roots and Oakland Ballers shirts and hoodies.
Matt says if you are in the Fruitvale area maybe getting a Peet's or a croissant at La Farine, drop by and support our local community at Oaklandish.”
