“Needed party supplies for New Year's, so stopped into this Dollar Tree last week (one time event decorations that will be thrown away quickly anyway are kind of the perfect items to buy from a dollar store). The store was pretty clean (and I mean that both for a dollar store and just as a regular store) and organized. Not only was it easy to find decorations for my New Year's Eve party but ended up buying other things too. While browsing the store I found some nice Bed Bath and Beyond plates and quickly snatched them up. I was surprised they had some BBnB stuff (maybe Dollar Tree bought some of their supplies as they went out of business?). I do agree with another review though though with the lack of hand baskets/small shopping carts that you can carry is really annoying (every store has hand baskets so not sure why this place doesn't). When checking out my items, the cashier was friendly and rang up my items promptly and accurately. I'm so glad this Dollar Tree is still in business. I used to go to the Downtown location often, but since it closed down, I go to this one now only once or twice a year (mainly for party supplies). This is pretty much the last good dollar store in Berkeley, so save some money and get some of your supplies here while it's still around.”

“They DO have healthful foods as well as neutral ones, and are worth checking out. They have more healthful foods as % of their canned, and likely un-canned, foods than a major (local, too) "dollar" store chain does. There are things that most shoppers will appreciate finding, and buy, here! And they do, but let's tell our social group about this not-prominent store!”

“Discount City is the best! They have everything I never even knew I needed. Party supplies, kids toys, craft/office supplies, toiletries, household essentials, the best selection of Filipino food and snacks, produce, really cute bags and hats, clothes… I can go on and on. Staff are very friendly and kind too.”

“I don't like the .25 cent increase on everything. That means every four items you buy you spend $5 and your one item short. And believe me on a low income it does add up. Got to do what you got to do though you're forgiven.”

“Been to this location times. The place is quite small but they carry a lot of items that I love especially Sanrio. this time around we purchased more household items and didn't splurge on "wants". My hubby picked up a few items to give as gifts for his co workers. Now, of course the standard price is $1.75. Still a great value even though they have lots of items there that cost more. They will have different colored sticker label on the item and you'll need to refer to their price guide posted throughout the store. If I'm ever in the area again I'll definitely visit again. I highly recommend this place.”

“Awesome store! They have a wide selection of items, from bath stuff to home decor. The pricing is my favorite thing about the store, everything is VERY cheap. The quality of items is okay but worth the price. The interior is aesthetically pleasing and well organized. I would definitely recommend Daiso, check it out!”

“I get the best deals at Grocery Outlet and often find items that I buy at Whole Foods at 1/2 the price or less. Supplements, vegan items, protein powders, great deals on these staples. I typically shopped at the LA locations but after moving back to the bay started frequenting this one as well.”

“An old-style, quirky, cluttered little shop that seems to have absolutely everything from a lightbulb to a spoon to a hat. Prices didn’t seem to be too expensive. I bought a lucky cat for $10.99, cheaper than I remember them costing in New York’s Chinatown. The staff were friendly and made sure the cat’s packaging was clean before they gave it to me.”

“Lots of good prices here. Items are hit and miss, sometimes they have Schar brand gluten free bread, sometimes they don't. Eggs are 5 dozen for only $8.99, which is a good deal. Staff is pretty cool and friendly.”

Prices were competitive for the Chinatown area in Oakland! Beats making the trip to San Francisco for ginseng! Services! was good and helpful! The clerk does know their items well!”

“To anyone who thinks Rakuten is a scam, I'm here to tell you it's not! I love this app. I have used it 4 months so far and have racked up over $200! Yes I have been paid. Also I didn't cash my first check in time and it was void after 90 days. No biggie, I contacted Rakuten and they issued me a new one. I have family members who now use rakuten. All have been paid, all love the app! You have nothing to lose and money to gain, use it??”

“I love this store! So many great premium foods as well as products we normally see at local grocery stores. You can find items that are normally sold at premium little stores. I like being able to purchase items like Rainforest Crisps that are $2-3 cheaper! I also like the availability of products from other countries.”

“This is one of my favorite stores in Chinatown, it's a lot like the Ben Franklin shops of my childhood. They have great toys, crafts, hardware, housewares, accessories, and pajamas and shoes, and snacks! They really do have everything. We get our house slippers here. You can't beat their prices and the owners are pleasant.”

“Typical dollar store in a lower crime community. Parking lot is small and shared with other businesses, but relatively safe from thieves. Panhandlers don't often come here. Store is smaller that Oakland location but cleaner.”

“I'm grateful for the experience I had when I called Grocery Outlet to inquire about an item. "Kim" not only confirmed its availability but also set aside a few for me. She made my visit to GO that much better. In the midst of the challenges we face as a community and nation, I find solace in the little things.”

“Every time I come here, I find myself buying more than I expect to buy. Most of their prices is less than what you would find at your local grocery stores. Some of their stuff have odd flavors I never knew existed. If you look around, you can find some things that are ridiculous cheap. Make sure you check the dates on everything you buy because a lot of their stuff have short expiration dates. Great place to buy if you're not brand specific or looking for a specific item. Some really good finds I found today we're on the 16oz Red vines black licorice 2 for $0.97, 8oz Takis waves intense nacho chips $0.97, 10 pack yan yan cracker sticks with chocolate dip $2.99 and some 14.4oz honey graham crackers 5 for $0.97. That's not a typo. It really did ring up 5 for $0.97 at checkout. Store is always very organized and clean. Staff is friendly and nice. If your buying a lot, ask someone who is stocking the shelves if you can take a box or 2 to put your stuff in instead of buying bags. The boxes are clean since it's just food that have been in the boxes. If there's 1 thing I think they could do better, they need to be quicker at opening more checkout lanes. I was here late morning on Saturday and there were 2 cashiers and 2 very long lines. I was getting ready to abandon my cart until they opened another lane. Luckily everyone ahead of me moved over to the new lane so the wait to pay for my stuff was much shorter.”
