“The building needs significantly better soundproofing to reduce the road noise. Rooms directly face the freeway and train tracks meaning there is constant noise 24 hours a day. If you're not a heavy sleeper I strongly suggest ear plugs!
Free breakfast is average at best with one choice of eggs, meat, potatoes, and oatmeal. There's no espresso machine or waffle maker which would have drastically improved the quality.
Others have mentioned the motion sensors which is indeed a very weird setup. I totally get having the sensors turn of the lights, but why does it also deactivate the power plugs?!
Lastly they charge $10 for self parking which is a bit of a rip off as it's just an unsecured parking lot. There is is also no street parking nearby so you're stuck paying it if you have a car.
Rooms: Rooms are well equipped, but the electrical outlets are controlled by motion sensors meaning lights (and more importantly power outlets!) are deactivated after about 30 minutes if nobody is standing in the kitchen area.
Walkability: Davis a very bikeable and walkable town. However, this hotel is located on an odd stretch of road next to the freeway with no decent bike path or sidewalks. There is also heavy construction nearby.
Food and drinks: Three is a nearby shopping center with restaurants and downtown Davis is less than 10 minutes away.
Noteworthy details: Very noisy and needs better soundproofing windows.”

“I absolutely enjoyed my stay here. It's right in the middle of downtown Davis, so you are right in the middle of everything that downtown has to offer. The hotel rooms are very nice and clean, they are quiet, the staff is great, and the TV's have channels and YouTube on them for watching. The wifi is also free. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Davis.”

“I really liked this hotel and recommend it without hesitation. The rooms are clean and have everything one needs, but the absolute best part is the service. The staff is amazing, and everyone goes out of their way to make sure that you have a great stay.
Walkability: Easy to walk to campus from the hotel. Plenty of restaurants nearby.”

“We only stayed one night, it was a very clean and comfortable room. The breakfast was an assortment and well-stocked. The front desk also held our luggage for us as we were traveling by train and did not leave until late in the evening.”
“Clean and reasonably priced. No continental breakfast, but who cares with downtown Davis just steps away!Walkability: Great walking town. Easy walk to downtown. I walked to the Mondavi Center at UCDavis. Nice not to worry about parking!”

“Service sells which was the case here. 3 stellar employees! First was Russ, the technician and maintenance person. What an amazing work ethic. He cared about his job and the work he performed. Truly enjoyed talking with him. Second was Pablo, who went above and beyond to get the internet issue resolved. He was the classic "service with a smile". Third was the Front Desk. I did not get her name, but she worked there yesterday (blond hair). She seemed to love her work and go out of her way to make guests happy. 3rd time there and will return.”
“We were pleasantly surprised at how clean, quiet and affordable this modern newly remodeled hotel was check-in was very easy. We booked last minute. It’s right off the freeway very convenient pleasant experience. Very safe.”
“I am a resident here. I lived here for two years now. I've seen a variety of people come and go. If it wasn't for the help from the manger, my family would be out on the streets. He has been an awesome host for myself and family. I will give him 10stars. Grated there are roaches. But they are next to impossible to get rid of them. When there are so many people going in and out. Any rental apartment in Davis has them. It depends on how much of a slob and horder you are.”
“never thought I’d say this, but a boutique hotel — the Aggie Inn — gave me more comfort, dignity, and support than the entire institution of UC Davis ever did.
Let’s be real: UC Davis is a bloated, bureaucratic disappointment. For a school that charges insane tuition and hides behind flashy “rankings,” it’s astonishing how little it offers in return. Campus services? Slow and rude. Classes? Overcrowded and soulless. Support? Nonexistent unless you beg for it. And let’s not even start on the campus stores — pure money-grabbing scams dressed up as “student resources.” The whole place feels like it was designed to exploit students, not educate them.
Now contrast that with the Aggie Inn — a hotel, mind you — which actually delivered what it promised. Clean rooms. Helpful staff. Respectful treatment. A quiet environment. Real service. You walk in and they actually care about your experience — imagine that.
UC Davis couldn’t manage a housing office properly, yet the Aggie Inn makes every check-in smooth.
UC Davis overcharges for garbage meals and housing, while Aggie Inn provides value, comfort, and peace.
UC Davis treats you like a number. Aggie Inn treats you like a person.
Here’s the truth: I’ve had more meaningful, intelligent, and respectful experiences inside a hotel lobby than I did in an entire year at UC Davis.
If you’re a high-achieving student who expects real standards, real challenge, and real support — don’t come here. UC Davis is where ambition goes to die, buried under red tape, low expectations, and a fake “inclusive” culture that masks total mediocrity. They’ll smile while they waste your time, your money, and your future.
So yeah — if you’re ever in Davis, skip the school. Book a night at the Aggie Inn. It’s smarter, cleaner, and far more honest than anything happening across the street at UC Davis.”
