“This place should be called Del Mar DELI and Liquor.. because this is the best, hidden gem of a sandwich and burrito shop in all of San Diego and its surrounding counties.
I am a Del Mar resident and a frequent of Jimmy and his establishment for other items (incredible staff, treats you like family, recalls your name)... and this was the first time I took him up on trying a sandwich from his deli at lunchtime.
I must admit, I was hoping I would like it but was very skeptical. I am NOT a fan of your traditional Boar's Head deli sandwiches because, in my experience, the sandwiches are dry, small, and lacking flavor.
Let me tell you this from a stubborn man who hates to admit when he is wrong - this was the BEST and most loaded sandwich I have ever had.
I ordered the turkey club and every component of the sandwich was fresh, flavorful, and stacked high with ingredients. Bacon fresh from the griddle. Fresh avocados carved and mashed into a punchy, creamy spread. Bread that was so fresh and moist it tasted like it was fresh out of the oven. Freshly made REAL pickles. Thinly shaved and textured lettuce. I could go on and on.
Do yourselves a favor. Skip Monarch or Pacifica. Go walk straight from the beach to Del Mar Liquor for a sandwich. I also hear their breakfast burritos were rated #1 in North County!”
