“I’ll start by saying that this motel exceeded my expectations. I paid $120 for a night (I booked only a day in advance, so it’s going to be more expensive anywhere doing that). I had to be up in Fortuna for a wedding the same day and asked about checking in early. The guy at the front desk was very accommodating and friendly and allowed me to check in early. There is plenty of parking. After checking into my room, it was very clean and it even had additional basic amenities I wouldn’t have expected from a 2-star motel. I had no problems with the room, and the layout makes it super easy and comfortable to stay in for a night. There were no noise issues with any of the nearby dwellings, and the bed was reasonably comfortable. After hearing about the notorious 2-star motels online, I half-expected there to be some type of bugs, but I was relieved to be able to sleep knowing there weren’t bugs anywhere in my room (or mattress). Everything advertised online about the Travel Inn and its amenities is accurate (some of which exceeded the expectations set), and some of the lower-star review writers think they’re entitled to 4-5 star amenities which were obviously not advertised nor mentioned anywhere in-person or online. I have absolutely no complaints while staying at the Travel Inn of Fortuna and will plan on using this as my motel when relatives nearby don’t have available rooms in their homes! “the staff is gracious and attentive, the building is well-maintained especially considering its age (142+ years!) and the wetter climate up here, and the decor is impeccable! good music playing throughout the house too.

i got stranded in town and the innkeepers (and many shopkeepers down the main drag) were kind to a panicked stranger and exceedingly accommodating (bonus recommendation for spencer's ferndale vintage)”

“Came for the hotel on a whim and the family loved it. The indoor pool was a hit. Only thing I wish the hotel had was a washer and dryer available for guests. The staff were sweet (Deborah in the three rivers eatery was incredibly patient and understanding).”
