“Tyler was awesome! Got a service to tune up my bike before a race. He answered all my concerns and was super patient with all of my questions. He even called me to let me know about a chainring issue, swe were able to fix that too. Jake, the mechanic who worked on my bike, did a great job too helping diagnose the chainring issue. Very knowledgeable and nice folks! Will be back!”
“No place you rather go but Area Cycles- Josh and his staff will restore your faith in humanity - they are very nice, ethical , and truly genuine - unlike all the rest and in particular the one at 1795 E 14th St, San Leandro, he is the one of the worst bike shop for he is an opportunistic thief . They replaced few parts on my bike with a very reasonable price - God bless you Josh- and your staff- and keep you safe you are a true treasure .”
“This place has to be your #1 for selection, service and education. Kansas (Oakland store) took us out for test runs and answered all questions about Aventon Cargo LR. This is a great family/kid option kids and short grocery trips. While waiting for the bike to arrive and be assembled, I called w/ more questions and Tim (Larkspur store) stepped right up! When I brought my bike in expecting a general tune up and we found out the frame was cracked and no longer rideable, Gaelan and Alex went above and beyond to help me find a replacement. They helped me find a bike that fit my injury considerations, performance goals, and budget—even though I wasn’t purchasing the bike directly through the shop. That level of support and genuine care is rare.
I’ve been going to the same bike fitter since starting my triathlon career in 2017, so I was hesitant to try someone new. But Gaelan’s background in PT, years of experience in the cycling industry and a cyclist himself, really showed throughout the fitting process. He not only helped me find a position that worked better for my sciatica and SIJ injury, but also identified a knee issue I had been managing that I hadn’t even mentioned to him.
The results have been incredible. In less than three weeks with my new bike and the fit, I’m riding longer with significantly less pain and have been able to consistently run off the bike weekend after weekend!🥹

“Our first time here, the owner James was such an amazing guy with a great sense of humor. He is to the point, gives us the information we need, educates us even in the little time that he has and helps us choose what we need.
Don’t come here expecting to have a loooong chat, he is a busy person and values others time as well. He will help you make the decision within minutes because of his expertise. He will appreciate someone who doesn’t dilly dally so do some homework and go there and he will be your guide. I was able to purchase my bike (free warranty) in 10 minutes coming to his store. I was looking at various bikes online and offline for days and couldn’t come to a conclusion, he is a like a dad who knew what we needed. My husband and I will definitely keep coming here.”

“Much smaller than it used to be, but they still have a selection of many things, including bikes and basics. The kind and helpful woman measured my son's head and found us a helmet that fit him.
They are sharing half the large store with a patio shop, which makes custom outdoor seat pads.
The shop is hard to see from the sidewalk, but it's in-between the two bike-shaped signs hanging above the awning.”
