“Fantastic motel for the price! And biggest bonus is they're very dog friendly and don't have a weight limit. The room was small but if you travel like I do and just need a place to sleep then it's more than adequate!”

“The rooms are a little dated. But, the location and hot tub/pool were great!!We got the 2 bedroom suite, on the beach. Just a few feet from the pool, hot tub and the lake! The staff was great, friendly and helpful! We would love to stay here again!!”

“A hidden gem at Tahoe! Feels like old-style Tahoe, before the massive overdevelopment, yet with all of the comforts of home. The managers are wonderful people, and so accommodating. We stayed for 2 nights with our two dogs in cabin 17. So close to Tahoe City, yet in the woods right next to a state park. The cabin was very neat and clean, with a very comfortable bed. The small but complete kitchen was perfect for all of our meal preparation. Those who need to stay connected will love the high-speed wifi, as well as the big-screen television in the cabin. It got down to the mid-teens at night, yet we were all very cozy indoors. We took the dogs for a number of hikes in the adjacent state park, as well as to the beach. We can't wait to come back with the dogs to go snowshoeing during the winter. This is our new go-to place for all of the seasons at the lake. Thanks for a wonderful time!”

“The room has character with warm timber, and is well appointed with appliances. Parking is right in front of the cabin. Location is convenient and right across from the Lake. Couldn’t be happier with our choice.”

“Good location, comfy beds, and room was warmed up prior to our arrival which is a huge plus. The bathroom is fancy and is clean, also comes with a sofa. Overall a pretty luxurious stay for this price range.Excellent service as the maid even went out of her way to contact us about a shirt I left in the shower curtain and we went right back to pick it up.”

“Overall a great experience, so I gave it 5 stars. Nice robes, towels, comfy beds, friendly staff. As a fellow business owner I would suggest three things. 1 Add sliding barndoors to the rooms instead of the curtain between the bedroom and bathroom. 2. Mark the light switches 3. Change the highend steakhouse to barfood and breakfast to match the casino and music venue. Food was amazing, but expensive.”

“The community of people who work here have been great. The room is clean, the breakfast bar is nicely maintained with an unexpected variety of choices. It could use a bit of a refresh, but so could I.”

“Very kid friendly resort with good amenities, activities, and a good location. The game room was a hit, although I am not sure if they keep it year round or if it was a holiday type setup. The heated pool and DJ Joolz were also highlights, and the on site food options are pretty good.”

“What a great first impression Granlibakken made! The resort is tucked away south of Tahoe City. We saw the sign to go into the resort and was greeted with an adorable set of starry lights on lamps guiding us to the resort. The lobby itself was nestled a bit more deep into the resort (for us, we came in through the poolside so had to loop around) but wasn't hard to find. One of the things I really loved about the Ganlibakken was just how friendly every single person was and full of character. People were not only chill but just super helpful and kind. I had a broken zipper on my jacket and the staff at the front desk were so nice in just offering advice and trying to open the zipper as well. There was also an ice scraper available to utilize which was uberhelpful for us as it snowed a bunch when we were there. The rooms were spread out across several buildings throughout the property and the inside was super comfy. The heater worked well. The beds and blankets were super warm. The view outside of all the snow was wonderful. The shower was solid and had good pressure/temperature. There was a small closet, microwave, and fridge as well.Love also that the resort is created where you should be able to get to most of the amenities by walking. So even though our room was more north, we were able to walk to the restaurant pretty easily if we needed to without driving around as well as the pool. (Just be aware that pathways of course are slippery in the winter). I also loved the various activities around like the jacuzzi/pool that were open in the afternoon during the winter to of course the snow hill with sledding/lessons for skiing and snowboarding. Really neat and will review those separately. Even the food was all surprisingly solid when it was the last thing I expected!Slight pain points that the hotel was aware of!*The WiFi was super spotty. The hotel tried to help with more options for Wifi codes but unfortunately didn't quite work right.*The gym itself isn't too bad with some free weights / some cardio machines / a barbell. It was leaking though during our visit so some of the gym was inaccessible. Also recommended to bring your own towel and wipes as they weren't available in the gym as well as your own music.*Be aware that parking may fill up close to your room. Also, if you are planning on using the snow hill on the property, I'd recommend taking the car if you can so your supplies are nearby. Although that area fills up a bunch, parking is usually available at least to the sides of the snow hill. Can't wait to come back!”

“Can’t say enough good things about this place, and especially the staff. We were supposed to stay at an Air BnB but the lock code we received was wrong and the host didn’t answer their phone for three hours. At 9 PM we had to find alternate lodging.Thankfully Plumpjack had a room open. Both that night and in the morning, every single staff member we interacted with was kind and helpful, going out of their way to help us however they could. They made our stressful travel issues so much easier and I can’t thank them enough. The rooms were great and clean, and the location if you’re skiing is insanely convenient.”

“My sons and I stayed at the FLL over the New Year week if 2024; it was our home base, while we skied and snowboarded at the various Tahoe ski resort. We were very happy with this Lodge. I loved walking down the private pier at sunrise. The room was really clean and well kept, and Brian, the property manager, couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating if he tried. He, and Gabby, his assistant (??) were very responsive the couple of times we needed them. I'm already looking forward to staying here over the summer, when they do evening bbq's and the pool is warmed up and ready for swimmers! This was a lovely memory-making family trip.”

“We return here for a week most years. The staff is welcoming and responsive, the 1- and 2-bedroom units are homey & well equipped; kitchen and bath amenities are sufficient. Very few units are alike. Best of all, the property fronts on the lake with less than 50 steps to a soft sand beach and a long pier with an elevated seating area. It has been a great experience every month of the year.”

“It was a great stay! Shoutout to Emily and Jay from the front desk and Chris from Valet. They went above and beyond to make me and my family have a great stay. They were so friendly and really made us feel at home.”

“My wife and I stayed at Rustic Cottages last year and loved it, so we wanted to try their other location this year. We were not disappointed! The cabin we stayed in this year, Cottonwood, was roomier than our previous one, and all of the amenities are the same as Rustic Cottages! They have movies to borrow, board games and yard games for fun, and souvenir coffee mugs. The breakfast is among the best continental breakfasts I have experienced. The location is serene, yet has easy access to all of North Lake Tahoe's attractions and shops. We didn't get a chance to try the pool, but it looked nice and clean. It was definitely popular with other guests. With the friendly staff, quiet and cozy rooms, and wonderful location, we will definitely be back again!”

“Hidden gem with potential to be great. It's just not quite there. Rooms have been updated and remodeled. They are nice. Cozy. The grounds are a little neglected in my opinion. The view is amazing. Sunrises and sunsets look like paintings. Didn't have a lot of interaction with the staff. Those I did were friendly.Rooms: The rooms are nice. Not 5 star but they've been updated. Stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit. Plenty of room but hard to maintain temperatures above 70.Nearby activities: Some nice restaurants and parks close by. Casinos look to be struggling and some are shut down and boarded up. Skiing is not far and there is a golf course nearby as well.Safety: Overall, the resort felt safe. The doors use a standard key which can be a little concerning if someone were to make copies. Without the key cards, resort staff can't monitor who has access to the rooms. But aside from that, there were no concerns.Walkability: There isn't much within a reasonable walking distance.Food & drinks: The resort offers popcorn and coffee. Not sure on other options. There is no restaurant. The rooms have small kitchens in them and Safeway is a 5 min drive away.”
