The Grande Colonial is a stunning, cute, and quaint historic hotel in a great location in La Jolla, close to the water and within walking distance of everything, including the beach. The property is charming and pleasant, with some rooms described as huge, enormous, bright, clean, and impeccably trimmed. Guests can enjoy a peek of the village from some windows. The hotel offers a remarkably high level of customer service, with staff noted for their smiles, competence, warmth, willingness, and general good nature. Amenities include beach cruiser bicycles to borrow and access to a local gym. However, the experience can vary. Some rooms may need updating, and issues like broken heaters, noise from neighboring rooms, hallways, elevators, or a nearby laundry room can occur. Some beds were found to be awful, horribly uncomfortable, and lumpy, causing discomfort, while others were described as typical semi-soft hotel beds. The on-site dining was unexpectedly closed on one day for a guest. The resort fee was a bit of a shock to some, and the presence of many stairs in some villas can be a challenge. Despite these occasional drawbacks, many guests find the hotel well worth the price for its wonderful atmosphere, ideal for weddings and family gatherings, and plan to return many times.

My family of 5 stayed here 5 nights and couldn’t have been happier with the staff, location, comfort, and cleanliness. We already can’t wait to come back!!

I have stayed at the Grande Colonial Hotel multiple times already and I have loved it each time! The beds are so comfortable and scoliosis friendly! The views of the ocean are absolutely radiant. I will love to come here again to this quiet and divine,historical hotel
