“I want to share my experience with you all. I had no idea I was going to spend $800 a night on a room, but we were treated exceptionally well at this hotel.

We booked with you this past Labor Day weekend because our daughter was participating in a recruiting seminar at UCSD. We were traveling with our dog for the first time, and you were one of the only hotels in the area that didn’t charge a pet fee. Some of your competitors were charging $125 to $170, but you didn’t. So, we booked with you regardless of my budget.

We arrived around 10 p.m. after a long day of traveling and a 3-game tournament in Fresno Valley. We were exhausted and needed a good night’s sleep. Your associate welcomed us and immediately comped the valet fee. He noticed that we were there late and leaving early the next day, so he thought that was a nice gesture.

We had talked about our plans for the visit, and he shared that he also played water polo and was a swimmer. After learning about our morning plans, he offered us a late check-out at 1 p.m., which was more than we expected and very appreciated.

We were escorted by a young man who helped us find our room. He was incredibly kind and helpful. I didn’t have any change for a large bill, so I asked if he had, He did not, He graciously offered to get me change, which was very thoughtful of him.

We woke up early and left, but we wish we had more time to explore the lodge. We arrived too late to do that.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The first-class hospitality made it a memorable trip. I definitely plan to return in the future.

“I had an absolutely amazing stay at the Grande Colonial easily a five-star experience from start to finish. The location is unbeatable, right next to the water with stunning views and everything you could possibly need within walking distance. Being able to step outside and instantly be in the heart of it all made the trip so much more enjoyable.

One of the standout perks was the fantastic valet service, especially with free overnight parking, which made everything seamless and stress-free. I also loved the complimentary bikes, they were perfect for cruising along the beach and taking in the scenery at a relaxed pace.

The hotel itself has such a welcoming and charming atmosphere. The pool area was ideal for unwinding, whether it was a quiet morning or a relaxing afternoon break. And the on-site, award-winning restaurant was incredible delicious food, great ambiance, and top-tier service without even having to leave the property.

What really made the stay exceptional, though, was the customer service. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to making the experience memorable.

Between the unbeatable location, thoughtful amenities, and outstanding service, this hotel truly has it all. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a perfect coastal getaway.”

“I love this hotel so much, its my favorite place in all of San Diego. Every aspect of the room (which is a small apartment) is so comfortable--the living room, kitchen, bed is divine, shower is hot! I am able to get computer work done with free wifi. In the morning, birds through the windows. I sleep so well. With the real kitchen I make whatever food I want, with restaurants a block away I don't have to. Beach 1-2 shirt blocks away. So friendly and helpful and welcoming. I feel so rejuvenated after a few days here, away from my hectic normal life, while only steps from parks, beaches, ocean, restaurants, cafe, fun.”

“The hotel was in a nice area. The rooms were pretty clean with the exception of the floor. The floor was a little bit dirty. I suggest you wear slippers. But overall, it was a nice hotel. I would stay there again.”

“It's in a beautiful setting and the inn itself is very nice. It just needs to be updated, especially because of the price point. There are signs of wear that should be addressed, like in the tiny bathroom - the shower rod paint worn down, the mineral deposits on the fixtures (get a water softener) but the towels are great. High end hotels would clean this up. Plus the couch is not comfortable at all, the furniture looks worn. There are little things that would really make this a desired destination, other than the setting. The service is wonderful though with a free shuttle to the town, as needed. The rooms are noisy, but the bed is comfortable.”

“Scripps Inn is in La Jolla / San Diego and right across the street from the beach. The building is a little older but our room was very nice with a comfortable bed, nice kitchen, dining room & living room. The inn offer plenty of parking with combined front and back parking. And if you know anything about La Jolla in the summer, you're lucky to get a good parking spot. The one small complaing I have is that there are trees obstructing the best views of the ocean. The rooms are dog friendly too. Lots of sights to see up and down the coast that I will show in some of the photos.”

“This cute boutique hotel was in a perfect location, beautiful view ,front desk night staff friendly and wonderful , had my car valet and ready for me in morning, Jessica Acosta was girls name super friendly , helpful and recommended some good spots , will definitely be back”

“While I had a good experience, liked the location, and think the staff were in general super helpful and responsive, it felt like there could be more events or amenities, and the food could have been better for the price. At night I felt like there’s nothing to do other than walking around or getting drinks. Also we were lucky that our neighbors were quiet - I do feel like it was extra not sound proof and you can hear everything in the hallway. And the water from the water station tasted pretty bad to me - might be that I’m used to better water quality in the east coast”

“From Rudy at the front gate to Adrian checking us in the first night and Amanda & Tony helping accommodating us for our unexpected stay everyone was helpful, amazing, and would highly recommend staying here. We had a beach house that wasn't ready for our arrival on a Saturday, found an online booking available that night after driving 6 hours and then they were able to help us per day until we were able to get access to our beach house. They were all so helpful and a pleasure. Appreciate Amanda, Adrian, Tony and Rudy. We will be staying here in the future and planning to stay here vs beach house next time.

2026 Update: almost stayed again but our beach house ? was perfect ?- however Dylan in reservations was awesome ? grace too and understood recent cancellation prior to stay so fees weren’t incurred”

“Nice and clean place, friendly staff. Has fridge and microwave. The staff tried to get me a non pet room once she found out I don't have a dog with me. The only thing I don't like is the room is not soundproofed.”

“The more we stay at the Hilton Curio properties, the more I think they should be the Curious Collection. The rooms here were okay, not particularly spacious and with some maintenance needed, I.e., loose bathroom door handle and a totally non-functional bedside clock. The food options were good, the location was convenient, and the staff was excellent as usual at Hilton. Would I stay there again? Probably, depending on the circumstances.”

“The ad does not lie, this is literally across the street from the beach, in a beautiful setting in La Jolla. Even with ongoing renovation work, this is a great place to stay. We very much enjoyed the 2-bedroom suite and the private pool.”
