“We had an exceptional experience at Grande Colonial. We love historical buildings, and they preserved the past well and still had all the living details new and high quality. The staff in particular stood out for being more than customer-service-friendly, but having genuine enthusiasm and kindness. You can tell they enjoy being there. The restaurant was excellent (it’s Michelline rated) and I would highly recommend the Chilaquilas for breakfast.”

“I'm so happy we chose The Shoal to stay in San Diego for 4 days! My first time in So Cal for my birthday. The employees were very nice and helpful. The rooms were clean and the bed I had was so comfortable! I hope to see changes in the future for the items below.- Please consider swapping out the sliding bar door to the restroom. It's too close to the beds.- They make us pay for parking and bike rentals. I wish those were free access.other than that I loved that we were a good walking distance to the ocean. It defiantly felt close to paradise!”

“My husband and I enjoyed a delightful staycation at Scripps Inn with a breathtaking view of the ocean! Our room was beautifully arranged, and the soothing sound of the ocean added a dreamy touch. I must mention that the mattress provided a comfortable night's sleep. We took a leisurely walk to La Jolla Cove, with all restaurants and shopping conveniently within walking distance. A special shout-out to Brooke at the front desk, who was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!”

“Spent another weekend at this hotel. The pool was open and the stay was perfect. Staff is helpful and friendly, parking is available especially in the back of the hotel. The hotel is walking distance to the beach and a ton of local restaurants. Check out the Taco stand and Classic burger.”

“I booked this place to come into town for a very dear friend's funeral, who was a professor at SIO. When my friend's family all came down with COVID the week before the service, the service was postponed. Although I had already passed the deadline to cancel at LJ Riviera Inn, I called the hotel and the woman I spoke with was so sweet and understanding and agreed to refund my money. Being summer in La Jolla Shores, it wasn't cheap so I was super appreciative for her kindness. Getting the refund from Expedia was a complete and total hassle, as they kept trying the hotel for confirmation after business hours and told me it was no longer an option to get a refund, but after a few days they finally tried again and was able to reach the facility. I realize now that this facility used to be a bunch of studio apartments and that I have had so many SIO friends who have lived there over the years. Although I no longer live in SD, I would say that this place is definitely a welcome addition to lodging in the shores!”

“We spent 2 nights here and it was absolutely wonderful! Eddie waited on us at the outdoor bar and was charming, friendly and gave some great tips on what to do in the area. We checked out the bikes the hotel offers and rode a few blocks to the beach. Jasmine, Lila and Gilberto who we also interacted with were all exceptional and the guest service was first class! I would highly recommend this hotel! Our view from our room was outstanding and we enjoyed the little balcony!”
