I’ve had the pleasure of joining two sessions in a row, and I can honestly say I’m hooked. Last week’s Herb and Garlic Frittata was an aromatic, savory dream, simple yet elevated in every bite. This week’s Strawberry Shortcake was absolute heaven. Light, fresh, and bursting with flavor. You leave feeling inspired and excited to recreate everything at home.
But what truly makes these classes special is Jan herself. She is approachable, personable, charismatic, and truly a joy to learn from. Her energy is contagious. She explains each step with clarity, passion, and a warm smile. She lights up the entire store and brings so much heart to each session. And yes, she is absolutely gorgeous too—inside and out.

“I highly recommend The Kitchen Store if you are looking for new cabinets. We are new home buyers; we bought a fixer upper with no kitchen. We worked with Marie to design our layout; she was patient and accommodating. We chose the Omega Cabinets solid maple. It was bumpy towards the middle end of the installation. The installer was not able to finish the job in a timely manner. There was a mistake, and part of our order did not get made, so we had to wait for the whole order. This took an extra 3 weeks. By that time the oringal installer was moved on and I had a pile of cabinet pieces in my kitchen waiting. The manager Jason and the sales rep, Marie worked very hard and fast to get me new installers, and help negotiate final payments and within 2 days all was resolved. I am grateful for the support of Jason and Marie. They assisted a possible shit show and turned it into a pretty good experience. And my kitchen is really coming together.”

“We had Carpet Corner remove the old carpet and install new carpet in our living room, three bedrooms, the stairs to the second floor, and the upstairs hallway, a total of about 175 square yards. Mike sent three very capable and friendly installers, who were here about nine hours. They had to move an upright piano, a grandfather clock, beds, furniture, a couple of large display cabinets filled with glass and ceramic collectables, etc. etc., then put it back when they were done. Nothing got damaged, and the new carpet looks great!”

“Well, I wanted another 240mm chef’s knife and so I bought this gyuto stainless clad with SLD core steel from Yoshihiro cutlery. It’s beautiful: the hammered stainless cladding, the ebony handle, and above all how it cuts. I’ve haven’t noticed any reactive staining yet though I believe the core steel is semi-stainless.I sharpened it right out of the box - it didn’t take much, it does sharpen very easily, it felt like I was sharpening my shirogami knives.It’s my eleventh knife from these guys. I have bought a couple from other dealers but it seems the quality is never as good as Yoshihiro.Go for it!”

I used to shop at the branch in Carson back when it was Indiana; the service there now doesn’t come close to the convenience of 23rd. “We visited Ferguson on Marine Ave to look for a replacement of our old Delta shower set. Paola helped us by showing possible alternatives and narrowing down selections based on our preferences (type, color, water pressure, shape design, etc.) and compatibility with the existing plumbing system. She was very professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. She spent over an hour with us going through the whole process, and in the end, she spotted a tiny incompatibility of a diverter setup that cannot be fixed unless we commit to a larger renovation project (tearing down the wall/tile). We ended up deciding to stick with the existing shower set for now, but Paola was still sincere and very helpful with our questions on much smaller items over email communications afterwards. We would definitely come back to Paola when we go for the new shower set.”

“Working with Lux was such a great experience! We couldn’t be happier with our full kitchen remodel…..it is GORGEOUS. The owner, the office staff, and the crews were all amazing and so easy to work with and so respectful of us and our home. In addition, they were there for us when we had a few other home issues due to flooding and were able to also provide a new roof and fix the room that was damaged and put it back to its original condition all while working on the kitchen and completing it within the time promised. We recommend them very highly!”
