“Amber is a wizard. She took my two tone, brassy hair and matched it perfectly to my natural color in two and a half hours. She's so sweet and unpretentious, and the store has more style than pretty much anywhere else in Oakland. Other salons cost twice as much and give you a much worse experience. Amber is a truly awesome hairstylist and I can't recommend her enough.”

“I often pop in here to get second hand clothes or shoes for my kids. Recently it was my son's 4th birthday and we were all home sick. He had been asking everyday for over a month if his birthday was tomorrow and if he could please have a spider stuffie. He was so sad to miss his birthday at school and I had had no time to buy him a present because we had back ti back illnesses for a month. I called Kelly's corner, they had one and asked if I could pay over the phone and have her toss it out the door to me so as not to infect anyone .she was so sweet and offered to drive the gift to my house (we lived nearby)after work. She even wrapped it in a gift bag and added a few trinkets. It made his day and meant so much to me. Thank you!”

“Since living around this area, I love going in there to take a look around their nice selection of vintage clothing and accessories. The downside is, I don't think they have updated their open hours.Went in there around 11 and they were still closed. I hope they update their business hours if they have changed! Would love be able to go when I know they will for sure be open”

“Love this spot but recommend bringing cash; they charge a card percentage even if you are using debit & it can be a chunk. Purchased during a sale & looked at the receipt. Seemed kinda weird that the salesman didn't mention it when he rang me up, probably because customers have an ongoing issue with this practice.”

“I love this shop! I brought in about 20 CD's to sell and they bought them all for a good price - when does this ever happen?? The staff is very friendly and helpful. While here, I picked up Jennifer Egan's A Visit From the Goon Squad in excellent condition for $5 bucks. They also have a great selection of DVD's. Another thing of note is that the store is very well organized and tidy, making it easy to find what you're looking for.”

“I have been coming to Radbird for several years. I can always find stylish designer pieces although they tend to be on the pricier side of preowned clothing. Their prices seem to always land somewhere between $200-$400. The fine jewelry collection is gorgeous.The ladies who work there are always kind but the fitting rooms could use some full length mirrors.”

I have found some amazing earring as well as other fun household objects. Hilton House find great quality item and has reasonable prices. This place has become my guilty pleasure for searching for treasures I probably don't need, but they are just so neat!”

“When I came across this store it was as if the clouds had parted to let the sun shine down on me. Yeah I’m exaggerating but it’s a cool store and the dude who runs it seems laxed. But when he asks you “how much do you think it’s worth?” I recommend quoting some outrageous price and wait for his counter offer. I mean it’s negotiating 101. But when you’re desperate for money, you’ll just be happy if somebody is willing to pay you anything. A mistake I shan’t make again. Yes I do recommend this spot for every hipster rocking a man purse and a cardigan and a SnapBack. Oh my god I just described myself. Bummer?”

“I’ve always driven by but never stopped in since it was after hours. I got a chance to pop in today and I found so many treasures! The owner/buyer had a great eye for unusual and precious antiques. I picked up fantastic Christmas ornaments, a stunning smoky topaz ring, and vintage Japanese porcelain aquarium decor. The latter could be used in plant terrariums too. They kindly offered my dog a treat and made me feel welcome.”

“This is my fave consignment shop!!! I found a beautiful crystal necklace that I will wear on one of my next adventures--oohlala! I also found some boots and a jacket that my friend might like. Divine Consign has lots of very unique items--clothing including jackets and coats, jeweiry, hats, and shoes that you probably won't find any of your friends have. They accept items for consignment, but it is important to ask Joy what they are taking before cleaning out your closet. They are a high-end consignment shop that we are fortunate to have these days. “They used to have an architect firm here that barely attracted any flies inside, then this wonderful, eclectic cute antique shop took over. They invited the lady from Moss plants to sell their beautiful plants and the result is balanced gentle magic. Here you can find gifts for yourself or for a special occasion, or no reason at all. Walking in here was a nice fresh break for a Sunday, greeted graciously by Nan who let me wonder around the shop without policing me or being a typical pushy sales person, quiet the opposite. Her level of education and appreciation for art and antique recognized the good client in me and others who happened to walked inside, and that's a good sales person. In the meantime I had to share this with more folks. Perfect place to buy a nice, cozy, or an elegant last minute gift.”

“This place runs mostly on volunteers. The best I can figure is they get food from grocery stores and such that's not fit for display ( I think the term is "reclaimed food") and distribute it to various charitiesThey also distribute clothing and things like that. Check them out.”

“The berkeley flea is small but you can come home with some great things depending on the day! I came here a lot in college and was able to find a rocking chair for $10, cool rings, clothes, misc electronics like a power surge or RCA cable and more. There are also specialty vendors like artisan goods, and food. I always find really good records from Glenn, and beautiful Nepalese clothes from other sellers. The earlier you come on the weekends, the better :)”
