“Service is mostly better than average because they take the time to chat with you just like in an old time grocery store. Ambiance is a bit dated with classic upscale foodstuffs. They have a buy ten sandwiches get one free deal and these sandwiches are so big you have to be pretty hungry to eat one at one time. Good soups, salads, deli and hot bar too.”

They have a butcher shop with seafood, red meats, chicken and cheeses; they have produce plus pantry and dried goods; cold drinks, milk, chips, etc. The staff is very friendly; there may be a language barrier. “I was genuinely impressed with the size of this Safeway and how well-organized and fully stocked it was. We stopped here for the first time on our way back to San Francisco to pick up a few items, and it turned out to be a very easy, stress-free shopping experience. The aisles were wide and clearly labeled, the produce section looked fresh and abundant, and everything felt clean and thoughtfully laid out. I was able to find almost everything quickly, which is not always the case in a new store.
For the one item I couldn’t locate, I asked a staff member for help, and she immediately stopped what she was doing, walked me directly to it, and was friendly and genuinely helpful the entire time. That kind of customer service makes a difference. The store also has ample parking and is easy to access right off Diablo Avenue, making it a convenient stop if you’re passing through Novato or heading back toward the city. Definitely a location I’d return to.”

“Safeway is more expensive than it used to be, but there are deals. I buy many essential things there. The deli rox, Starbucks is there, Sushi, Twinnings tea, batteries, chili and refried beans, naproxen generic, razors, orange juice and chocolate milk, good sourdough. We live right nearby. Good bathrooms, self check is hella fast and you can go to the person monitoring self check for help. Main drawback is it closes at 11. Many are 24 hours. Interesting corporation, their SIGNATURE brand copies many products well.”

“My favorite establishment in Novato. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Groceries are more affordable than Safeway, with much more transparent pricing. Their selection of frozen and prepared foods is international, healthy, and delicious. I pretty much live off of Trader Joe’s food.”
