“ive been going to daly city tool mart since i started out as a auto technician its officially been 20 years. katherine and paul have been the go to place for tools. they have EVERYTHING and theyre both very knowledgable on whatever job your tackling if they dont have it they can get it for you. if your thinking well you can buy it online for a cheaper price but when your in a pinch and you need the job done tool mart is definitely the place to go. dont price out a mom and pop store support your local businesses.”

But, to my surprise, there was a very recent change in ownership, which, I hope, will mean better and more merchandise on the shelves again soon. “I had a plumbing emergency on Friday with my daughter and family staying for the weekend. I was lucky to get a plumber in a few hours to stop a leaking shower valve for the hot water faucet. It was installed in 1991. BUT to repair/replace the two faucets with a single unit will be $2200. So I went to Cal-Steam Burlingame with the necessary info. It turns out I only need to change out the valve stem for $50. But what is so impressive is that John and Nick went above and beyond to help me. They spent time on the computer locating the part, double checked, conferred and then showed me the part. During the whole process they would apologize for taking so much time. I was so thankful that I could go to a plumbing supply warehouse and stand in line with working plumbers and be treated so respectfully. Senior citizens take note of this! I just turned 80. John and Nick you are great! Thanks for making it easy.”
“If you're a delicate child of the last few decades, you might not like this place. If you grew up with gruff, competent but not always fawning workers, and dingy Army surplus stores like I did, you'll deal with it. Especially if you want a part for an older installation. Higher quality stuff that you get from Home Cheapo and its rivals for the most part.”

She shared so much about plumbing fixtures that now I am able to distinguish when something has plastic or more of a metal component.Also, they have stock of different pieces, so you can probably make your selections -place the order- and take home what your contractor needs to continue with the framing and wall work.”
“I am a semi-retired decorator. I had a client that needed some rods and had no way of finding displays. Something she could touch and see up close. Since we don't have anything in our area I found Davis Hardware. The people are great and the displays are perfect. You can check size and color, which as you know is very important for the client. They are wholesale, but if you need to see something get with your decorator and go see what they have. Its worth the drive.”

“One if the few times I've used their tool rental service. Very efficient staff, Ching was working the desk with another gentleman. I had a choice of clearing a drain myself, I needed a electric snake, or calling a plumber. The choice was clear after calling a few plumbers, when they required a diagnostic fee before proceeding, I already knew the issue, a clogged or obstructed sewer drain. By the time a plumber was called, I had already went to home depot, rented the snake and probably cleared the obstruction in the waste pipe. The choice was clear so I didn't bother to contract with any plumber.If you are in need of tools, home depot may be your source providing you have the ability to use them and the knowledge, but really it may take a little longer but the results are the same.I would use home depot again if it arises that I don't have the tools to complete a job”

“Great resource for hardware quick and with actual service, well worth the slight premium (if any) over the Big Box monstrosities if you need things quickly and done right.
Recently they cut a key for a friend who has a late model Chevy with the extractable keys. Stealerships charge hundreds to program these and cut the key. eBay has sellers with aftermarket FOBS for $35/pair. Fairly easy to program yourself, and here at this ACE they have the correct machine to cut the key correctly. $25 per customer supplied blank and key works perfectly!
Whenever I visit small businesses like this that are managed, stocked and trained well, I want to vomit at how much more stress and time it takes to buy the same items at hell holes like Home Despot or Lowes.”
