“Pacific Manor Hardware ACE is my go to place for everything DIY around the house. It is local, and it has everything I need. Most importantly, people working at this ACE really know what they are doing and always ready to help. This store may be a bit pricier than Home Depot; however, it is well worth it - the willingness to help and professional advice from people who work there is priceless.”

“This place is great! Went to three different stores, none had the tool I needed. The guys at K-119 (also a great store) told me to check Tool Mart, and they had exactly what I needed. Be careful, you'll end up buying way more tools you didn't know you needed:)”

“Best hardware store ever!I went in for a part for Grohe kitchen faucet, even though they don't have it, they called the owner to help me find the part.My neighbor told me if I can't find the part, I have to buy a brand new set which is very expensive. Papenhausen not only answer me so many questions about kitchen faucet brands also reassure my confidence for Grohe. Not just that, Papenhausen Google and found the part for me.I offer to buy a Grohe new set from Papenhausen as a thank you gesture for the guiding light, but Papenhausen want to save me money and let me order the part on line myself. It's not just that, each staff is like the most kind human being love to find out answers and helping people, I truly love this store. For me, it's better than ordering from Amazon or go directly to Home Depot. & If they can't find something I need, they always point out direction.I stopped going to Target or Amazon for ward wares because even seeing these nice people in Papenhausen, make me feel San Fran is still wonderful.”

“This place is an amazing resource due to the expertise of Matt and Yutong. Matt is always on hand, and I was surprised to learn he works six days/week. Surely the management at Creative Paint can take better care of this valuable employee and expert advisor to us all.”

“This is always been my go to spot. Well other hardware stores are closing. This place seems to be thriving. It has a great inventory for odds and ends and even essentials. The staff is exceptional.”

“Wow this place has like everything you need at a hardware store. Half of the stuff is ancient but all assortments of bolts and screws, etc. But I actually came for the bagels. The salmon bagel was definitely the best but twice the price of the bacon egg bagel, but for good reason! Still comes out cheaper than most places and it's all handmade and warm. We walked a mile from our hotel in the wind for this, mainly to get some exercise and fresh air but so worth it. Ate it back at our hotel.”

“Got help from an expert to find specific bolt and coupling in the last few minutes before closing.i’m so glad that the owners of the new OSH saw that the store had been an overall success, that it was worth restarting. OSH has things I can’t find anywhere else. And they seem to keep inventory up instead of running out like the bigger guys.Stores are always pretty much spotless.Getting in and out is much more convenient than the bigger guys.I prefer OSH over other hardware stores, mostly because the OSH stores are more uniform. You know what you’re gonna get.(My guess is that the former OSH’s upper management grew too large unnecessarily; too many top hats getting lots of raises - “because golfing at all the top courses plus lessons is getting so darned expensive!”, maybe. They likely didn’t know how to roll with the punches, tighten the belt, jettison the dead weight, survive at all costs. They killed the cash cow and her spoils.I wonder what they think about what they’re seeing now.)The new OSH is definitely panning out to be everything we missed about the old OSH.I noticed the inventory is increasing. It makes sense that it would take a while to get all the product back on the shelves like it had been before.”

“Dukes is one of many great local neighborhood hardware stores. Never had a bad experience and is usually my go to store if I need small stuff like gaskets, silicone, etc for the home. Some employees have great advice and are always friendly and honest (from what I've seen so far).Prices are pretty fair on most items I bought and is sometimes the same or better than Home Depot or Lowes so you can save gas and support locals.”

“South City Lumber is our go to for all construction projects. Excellent customer service, go see Erika or Justin for assistance. We recently ordered Emtek cabinet hardware from Erika and she was patient enough and gave great recommendations. We have gotten so many compliments for our cabinet hardware.”

“I had to go pick up mice deterrent, so I went to J&J's on Geneva. As I was entering the store, the man outside the front door asked if I needed any help, I said of course. He stopped what he was doing, showed me a new product that I didn't even know existed, I got that. He also walked me over to the section for what I was looking for, he has such a large selection of products. I was so in awe as to how many different products for catching mice, that I forgot the damn traps. I did purchase a few items though. Have to go back today to get the traps. Thanks for your help, see you again today.”

“5 starts!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️The young woman that works here at the desk, is so knowledgeable and a badass at her work!I will recommend you Visit the store, talk to her, ask your questions and make sure you pay attention. She shared so much about plumbing fixtures that now I am able to distinguish when something has plastic or more of a metal component. Also, they have stock of different pieces, so you can probably make your selections -place the order- and take home what your contractor needs to continue with the framing and wall work.”

“After wasting time trying to get help from anyone useful at Lowe's (30 minutes on hold then they hung up when transferring me, and another 45 minutes driving over there ....to be told they can't get me what I want shipped from another store) I ended up here. They are cheerful, and helpful.Pros: You can pretty much get what you need here, and yes they will deliver if you order enough. They have a parking lot and wont yell at you for cutting sheetrock in their lot so it'll fit in your car...they'll even give you a utility knife and a T-square.They cut glass and wood. They don't run away when they see you. They will offer actual helpful advice when asked and if they don't know they won't try to snow you. They are a family business and not associated with any of the Evil Empire stores. They have sales which helps a little depending on what you need ( you can look up their sales online.)If you have Covid induced low frustration tolerance, this is your place. Easy to park, find what you need and check out.Cons:They cost more then any of the Evil Empire stores. But cheap friends, time is money and sometimes you just gotta pay more to support the Forces for Good ( and your mental health.)”

“Rick and his team replaced about 15 double hung and casement windows in our 1935 San Francisco home, and did a terrific job. They were careful and thorough in their preparation and their clean up, and the windows and hardware are great quality and work well. We are very pleased, and felt very comfortable with them during their work in our home. They were recommended by our neighbors, who had Rick replace a number of their old windows several year previously.”

“I needed some weird tamper proof allen screw tool. Bill showed me exactly what I needed and I was out of there in 5 minutes. Big box hardware stores need to learn a lesson.”

“After not finding basic items on several occasions, I tried one last time and found a similar product to the one I wanted. But, to my surprise, there was a very recent change in ownership, which, I hope, will mean better and more merchandise on the shelves again soon. I will continue to try to support my local hardware store.”

“Friendly, fast, and inexpensive service! I had Home Depot make me 3 keys with their $20,000 automated key machine and all 3 keys did not work. Came to designer's brass and was helped immediately. Not only were the keys the same price, but they also helped recut the keys from Home Depot. Never going anywhere else!”

“Open until 9pm on Sunday! All other hardware stores were already closed Sunday night at 8pm. I drove from San Mateo to Ace in san Bruno. Ace had what I needed urgently, I got in with 4 minutes before closing. The store team are awesome.I was pleasantly shocked for the fact that this Ace is also a full grocery store.”

“If you're a delicate child of the last few decades, you might not like this place. If you grew up with gruff, competent but not always fawning workers, and dingy Army surplus stores like I did, you'll deal with it. Especially if you want a part for an older installation. Higher quality stuff that you get from Home Cheapo and its rivals for the most part.”

“I knew they closed at 5 pm, but just getting off that darn Westlake northbound off-ramp took several minutes! Anyway, the fellow told me he closed at 5 pm, but he was willing to help me and make 3 sample cans to go before 5 pm. Great Service.”
