California Credit Union is a long-standing financial institution serving school employees, community members, and businesses across the state. Many members have used the credit union for a very long time, from its former location, and have historically referred others to it. Some positive aspects noted by members include a good location, plenty of parking, and a friendly manager. Specific employees have been thanked for their great service, time, and for being well-informed, educated, and professional. However, several significant concerns are repeatedly raised. A major issue at one location is parking, where the member parking is often taken by non-members, forcing customers to park on the street or far away. More critically, there are frequent complaints about operational problems. Members report the branch has made serious deposit mistakes with very large deposits, requiring multiple visits and weeks to resolve, which has led to a loss of confidence. This forces members to double-check every transaction. There is also frequent turnover in employees, and staff often do not seem to be trained very well. Tellers may not seem to enjoy being there or helping people, and the location is described as not having a good vibe anymore. The credit union is often short-staffed, with the manager frequently helping at the teller window. Additionally, getting through to customer service via phone has become frustrating and time-consuming, a decline from what was once considered the best phone service. Interest rates are cited as really low. Due to these issues, some members have pulled out large accounts, plan to close remaining ones, and note that referred individuals have left for another credit union. Members express hope that the management will correct the parking situation and that the location will re-up its game.
Cecilia is the absolute best!! I opened a business account here and it was very seamless. Cecilia was truly attentive to the process, updated me along the way, and was overall very helpful with the onboarding. I feel good about being at a local credit union as a business owner and this is the place to do it!!
