“My daughter and I went in on a lazy Sunday afternoon in hopes of seeing some beautiful birds, but we were surprised to find out that the birds were no longer on display. That’s ok, safety first! Anyhow, the employee Max, exceeded my expectation on what excellent customer service means. He explained the process of adoption, and what they look for in a new family for birds. Not only was he super friendly, but he was also very informative and you can tell this was more than a job to him because clearly he enjoyed what he was doing and he also enjoyed educating the public. My daughter was able to hang out with a cockatiel and I think she really enjoyed it and might change her mind about getting a love bird. “Today was my first visit to this Pet Food Express location, and it was such a wonderful experience!
I discovered a few months ago, while visiting the Pleasant Hill store, that Pet Food Express carries my dog’s food. Since moving to the Bay Area a year ago, I’ve been ordering it online, so I’m still learning which stores carry what.
Recently, the Concord location didn’t have the smaller bag of my dog’s regular food, so I decided to try a different formula from the same brand. Unfortunately, my dog wanted nothing to do with it.
I stopped by this location hoping they might have what I was looking for, and that’s when I met Brandi. She was absolutely incredible! Even though they didn’t have my dog’s regular food in stock, she took the time to help me explore other high-quality options and recommended products that might encourage my picky pup to eat.
The biggest surprise was learning that if my dog didn’t like the food, I could return it for store credit. I had no idea this was your policy! Neither the Pleasant Hill nor Concord locations had ever mentioned it, even when the Concord team knew I was hesitant about trying a new formula.
Because of Brandi’s outstanding customer service, I was able to exchange the food my dog wouldn’t eat and bring home something different. As soon as we got home, my dog happily ate some right out of my hand, so I’m feeling very optimistic!
I also brought my blue nose pit bull with me, and Brandi was so kind and patient with her. My dog was a little overwhelmed by all the exciting smells, but Brandi kept her happy with treats and made her feel comfortable while we talked.
Brandi truly went above and beyond. She was knowledgeable, patient, compassionate, and genuinely cared about helping both me and my dog. Customer service like hers is rare these days, and she made me feel like a valued customer.

“I often bring my 95lb Old English Sheepdog here for a bath and the staff are so helpful and friendly. PFE has a large variety of high quality pet food which I buy for both my cats and dog. My dog has an allergy to chicken and the staff are very knowledgeable about pet foods that don't have specific ingredients.”

Happy to report this store has a good selection of pet merchandise and food. I picked up a Canada Pooch cooling vest that was on end of summer sale. “First time visit for my 11yr old dogs twin sister after her recent escape and resulting mysterious swollen neck lump (rec: hot compress for 2 weeks 2xday with followup visit if no improvement. Ps she had a large mouth tumor removed last month elsewhere so maybe related?). The vet tech and Dr. Kim were very attentive, detailed and kind and answered my 1thousand questions. ...aaand they didnt try to oversell or push anything extra we didnt need. I asked for all the vaccines for a stay at home pup (IF she stays at home ha) and they recommended the ones we should do for her lifestyle (I learned that the kennel cough vaccine I've been giving her brother dog isnt super necessary if he's an at home dog and not in confined spaces with other dogs) I did have to advocate though for doing more than they recommended (heart worm test/shot), which Im fine with as an experienced dog mom. Highly recommend especially with the coupon for first exam free.”

“Dog Mah is an absolute dream ?. My dog is a standard Poodle and they do the most complete and spectacular job. He did not have one hair on his nose. His whole body was perfectly cut.
