“Rich earth; friendly prices.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff as well. They have a great selection of soils and top dressings for your garden. In addition, in stock is pretty much everything you need to install a new irrigation system from zero; pvc or abs piping. Hardscaping supplies are available as well Bend-R-Board in numerous dimensions, steel borders, tree stakes, and of course Rocks. Plenty of 'em, great decorative boulders, pretty pavers, the list goes on...
Let me emphasize the value you get here though, they are routinely and universally(as in across their entire inventory) a few dollars less expensive than some other nearby nationalistic soil sellers I have visited. A nicer price coupled with a better portion, if you're buying by the bag, the bags here always seem to be fuller than some other outlets. Buying in bulk it depends more on who is operating the loader...
Have fun.”
“This store is perfect for your everyday household needs. Like finding a fastener to reattach the blade on your pizza cutter. AI results told me to ask for some obscure bolt but Jon swooped in and saved the day. He basically MacGyvered a screw, nut and washer situation to make my pizza cutter whole again. If you go to this location, ask for Jon. He’ll do whatever he can to help you, and make you laugh.”
“This store is a pleasure to visit. The staff are friendly and very helpful if you have questions, and there’s a great selection of plants, soils, pots, tools, and other gardening items. It can get a bit crowded at times, but people are generally polite, and there’s enough space to move around comfortably. Overall, a solid spot for all your planting needs.”
“excellent store, great staff, good selection.
If you're looking for cheap, poor quality tools, this is not the place. If you believe in paying what it costs to have handmade tools made by true craftspeople, then you're lucky to live in an area that has Hida Tools.”
“Small hardware store but very complete. With less variety of products due to the size of the store, but you can find everything.
The staff was extremely friendly, they helped me find what I needed and gave me good product recommendations.”
“Never thought I would review a hardware store but the people that work at Coles really make it something special. They are all so sweet and helpful! Not to mention they really do have everything you might need.. love this place!”
“I had a fantastic experience at Marcus Supply Ace Hardware in Oakland, California. The staff was incredibly helpful when I was searching for JB Weld—they guided me right to the exact product I needed. Their knowledge and customer service really stood out, and I felt well taken care of throughout. I highly recommend this store for anyone in need of tools or supplies!”

“One of the screws from my super old doorknob went missing, went to ACE who told me the only place that MIGHT have it was Bowlin Equipment Co. I showed up with my screw. They were super kind, laughed at my garbage screw, sorted me out with a better made replacement that works like a charm and now I don't have the replace the lock, and with my luck probably the whole door. 10/10”
“I went here about a month ago and couldnt be more pleased. Old school..like when i was a kid and had to get parts for old school tools and fixtures of my moms stuff. Went to home depot about a week ago to get a part for screen door..the latch that handle clicks into. Omg..what an ordeal..they dont have them..you have to buy whole new handle with latch. All i had was a hundred..OLDER woman on outdoor cashier says..20 40..80..3..i said wait..she takes it back and reads it out right..then accuses me of stealing a red bull i had in my mobility scooter when i came in..IM 70 FGS...TOLD HER I LIKE MINE WARM..SO THEIRS REFIGERATED?..SHE SHOULD PICK IT UP AND TEST IF ITS WARM..ONLY THEN DID I REMEMBER...MY GOD...TRUE VALUE..OWNER . TREATS YOU WITH RESPECT..AND YOU JUST CANT PUT A PUT A PRICE ON THAT!”
“This store has the best customer service! I placed an online order for in-store pickup and was not able to get the order within the timeframe. I really wanted the order so I called and spoke to a really nice gentleman on the phone and asked if I could provide a prepaid shipping label so they could send the items to me. They agreed! Toby helped me and shipped it out the same day. Best service ever. Thank you so much!”
“Y'all no one asked me to write a review but I had to write something cus I literally had the most WONDERFUL experience in this store! Janette and Anna and Devan were so helpful but also so KIND to me when I came in. The store had such a great selection of stuff and I got everything I needed and left smiling!!!!”

“We recently purchased an acrylic panel for our living room skylight. The staff at TAP Plastics provided excellent service on the selection of a cost effective material, In addition, the staff helped us size and adjust the large sheet dimensions to obtain a perfect fit. Awesome!”
“I always find what I need here, whether it's a random tool or some paint. The staff is super helpful and friendly, which makes shopping for home projects way less stressful. It's my go-to spot!”
“Continues to be my go-to choice for local expertise and materials. Shout out to Sam Austin for managing all my needs and Sandy Victorino for making sure I got all the right doors and windows (and on the fly without an appointment).”
“We worked with Theresa to purchase our windows and doors for our entire house over the past few months. She is very helpful and answers all of our questions in a timely manner. Also a shoutout to Yvonne - she has helped us coordinate our delivery. Thank you for dealing with our various ETA questions. I highly recommend checking out Ashby if you are in the market for a window or door!”
“Welcomed with a smile and asked how he could help me today. Confidently shown/directed to needed items. Excellent amount of quality options. All queeries about purchases answered with confidence. Sales assistants here don't run from prospective customers like Pastime Hardware on San Pablo Avenue. Knowledge of products is given freely because staff is sincerely knowledgeable of what the purvey. Pastime employs staff who know very little about a lot and make customers know that the customer is stupid and insignificant. The elitist culture growing here must be cut out at the root. Out! DAMN Spot! Let's bulldoze this black hole into oblivion. White power in El Cerrito can't fester here.”
“Yeah the guy at the counter listened to my tiny problem patiently and spent a few minutes working it out asked a question of his co-worker, and told me the mistake I was making and how to fix it. I was out of there in like 8 minutes for less than $6 and got my plumbing problem fixed. Five stars.”
“Great store, large range of products, the woman I talked to was very patient and helpful to help me finding a solution to the problem I had.
I recommand this place.”
“Multiple sizes of o rings saved me a lot of time and money - an easy fix for a leak in a Hans Grohe pull down kitchen faucet that just needed a new o-ring ! The best $3 I've ever spent.”
“I needed a ' Couple of Disabled & Senior Grabbers right before Closing time. Friendly & Helpful Staff in their EL Cerrito Location.
It was a ' Quick & Ez In & Out '.
Love ❤️ to spend more time browsing their Store.
Lot closer to Berkeley - Albany than HOME DEPOT !!!!!!”

“The guys that I've interacted with at Economy Lumber have been extremely patient and helpful. They worked with my oldest son to figure out what sizes of lumber he should purchase for his Eagle project so that they could cut it from larger pieces to save him money. They also gave him a student/community service discount. My younger son recently went in early at 7:30am on a Friday morning to get lumber for a school project and they again told us the most cost effective sizes and quality of boards to purchase and then cut it for him. I dropped him at school with the cut lumber by 8:30am. I know we were lucky that they were not busy that morning, but it was just so awesome that they could and did help us so quickly. I highly recommend Economy for any school or community service project.”

“Best one stop HVAC suppliers in business! Tools equipment parts all in one, multi-brand parts supplier. When the others branded companies can’t, Johnstone is your best resource. The best in HVACR Contractor wholesale.”
“First time here. Pleasant owner super friendly. I needed a piano board (a board that is essential when moving grand pianos) and so I rented from them. There was a small mixup with the equipment and I had to go back to exchange which was no problem. I got the right equipment and used it beyond my rental period (I extended it). When I returned, the workers who were also very professional and polite met me at the car to help unload the piano board. When I checked out with the gentleman at the register, he actually refunded part of the rental price (even though I extended it) because of the initial mix up in the beginning. I move pianos often and will be coming back here. I recommend this business discount aside, as they are friendly, helpful and professional which is important to me. This place nailed it for me. Thanks agaian!”
“Please don't follow the business hours on Yelp. Yelp does not let me to change the business profile unless I must sign up the Yelp business program which I have kept receiving Yelp marketing call all days to hassle to pay the advertisement fees. Please google the correct business hours.”
“Best hardware store near me. You can find anything for your small house projects. Paint, gardening, electrical, plumbing, cleaning supplies, tools etc. It is super well equipped and the help is fantastic and great customer service every time. I have been coming here for many years because of the friendly staff, locally owned and they have everything I need. Check them out and shop local.”

“What do you need? They have one. And if they don’t, Coles is around the corner at twice the price. What’s not to love? I always go here first though. No need to go to a big box store. This place (and Coles) have what you need.”
“PJ (Seasonal Manager) went way out of his way to assist me with finding a receipt I needed to complete a expense report! Fabolous customer-experience! Right on PJ!!!”
“Much bigger than meets eye. This place is like 5 different rooms and has literally anything you can think of. Surprisingly, there is also a lot of great souvenirs that are way better than actual souvenir stores. Friendly and helpful staff.”
“Friendly and helpful! John helped me try and problem solve what tool to use for a project. he took his time and showed me different tools on a difficult flooring project. Ultimately he recommend trying low tech tool that I didn't even need to rent something cheaper to try first. Great experience all the way around.”

“Wonderful hardware store with a full selection of boat/marine focused items & knowledgeable staff. We were able to find the correct fuel for our boat's stove, thanks to the associate. Also has all the typical hardware items, including a room full of every screw and bolt you might be looking for.”
