“Went to the Ayres for a work conference and the staff were always very attentive, friendly, and professional. Don't have a review of the rooms since I am local and didn't need to stay there. The lobby was clean, had many places to sit and a vending machine. Bathrooms were kept very clean. I saw a sign they do taco Tuesdays, I believe they catered one of the days for my conference and the food was great! I'm planning on stopping by for their Taco Tuesday special one day. Even though I didn't stay in the rooms, I'd recommend this hotel for any family visiting. It's close to shops and restaurants, a great location.”

“Was skeptical about the price at first but it's totally worth it! Gates access with Hotel like key cards and more amenities than you can use. Will be back for sure!”

“Stayed here for a week, what a gem! I was really excited for the arcade games and pool but we didn’t have time to use either. They looked really cool though. The location was perfect for what we wanted to do. We felt safe walking to and from the trolley. Staff were all friendly and helpful! Cute rooms, comfy beds. The grab n go breakfast was a bit disappointing but was fine for a quick snack. It was a bit of a bummer not having a fridge or coffee maker but we made out fine without. Would definitely stay here again!”

“I had a 2-month stay here and this hotel was fabulous. The front desk staff were so accommodating. So friendly and so helpful. They really made everything wonderful!

I didn't usually partake in breakfast but the friends I was with raved non-stop about how good it was.

The room was very spacious with almost a full kitchen. All it lacked was an oven. There was a full size fridge, an induction cooktop, a dishwasher, and a full sink. I believe with disposal. There was ample room for storage. It felt almost like an apartment and a home away from home. My room overlooked the highway so it was a bit noisy and I was woken up by the forklift guy from Walmart but that's just the nature of the beast of highway hotel. Other people did not have that issue. That's just the room that I was in.

The beds were very comfortable and I really appreciated the extra drawers beyond the closet for clothing. The bathroom had ample space. Though I don't understand what is the deal with the half glass showers? It's all the rage in Europe and I hated it there too. Water always gets outside. Maybe it's the new thing?

In any case, I spent two holidays here and had an incredibly pleasant stay. I was able to keep my bike here and ride from the hotel to the neighborhoods around. If you have a bike it is extremely accessible to anywhere. I rode downtown. I rode everywhere with zero issue.

And what's fabulous is you can walk to the outlet mall. There's a Barnes& Noble and a cheesecake factory and a bath& Body works, etc. It's all right there plus a grocery store and then you can cook in your room and feel right at home.

Probably the only issue I had was with the elevators. There was almost always one of them having an issue but this is going on about 8 months ago so it's probably been fixed by now.

None of that should deter you from staying here. Parking is free and it's a warm, comfortable homey place to stay. I highly recommend this hotel! If I never back in Chula Vista I will stay here!!”

“We were looking for a hotel far from the downtown San Diego and in more quiet area. We found this one and it was a very solid option for the price. The staff were great with reservations and answering our question. The rooms were super clean and well designed. I’ll reserve this hotel for the future trips.”

“This was a last minute booking and it turned out to be a good pick. The room didn't feel old or worn out like some places it actually looked newly renovated. Super quiet at night, no disturbance, which made the stay really peaceful.”

“This is a nice hotel. Check in was quick and staff seemed nice and welcoming. The room was clean. It was different to have a room without curtains, only a shade that completely covered the window so I couldn't peek out.?☺️. Although it is close to a freeway it was quiet. Gas station nearby made it easy to fill up and go on our way. Nice breakfast too. Overall, good spot.”

“Nice hotel. Clean and professional workers who are so nice. Close to everything with plenty of parking. Within 20 minutes of anything we wanted to do. Also close to the interstate for fast and easy access.”

“Not enough parking spaces, had a tesla think they were good enough to take up 2 spaces when trying to park our car. There was no parking availavle until a motorcyclist pulled out of a spot and we had to quickly get in before another car came around the corner.
The inside of the room and bathroom was clean decent. Clean sheets and blankets, which is one of the main concerns. There's a hairdryer. iron and iron board in the room (dont have to ask at front desk).
The only problem really was the parking space.”

“This was the best hotel I've ever stayed at! The hotel rating was strangely high with the nightly rates being extremely low—$65 a night. The location was perfect for my needs being local, right next to the Circle K gas station, Wal-Mart; and central San Diego location with access to the freeway less than a block away ! I'll definitely be coming back again as my first choice. Praise the Name !! ?❤️‍?”

“I recently had an extended stay at the Big 7 Motel, during a major transition in my life- almost six months in fact.

There is plenty of parking- but it can get full on weekends. I never had a problem parking. The lot is very well maintained. While I was there- they resealed it, replaced the cement parking stops, and repainted it. They also started to add potted plants to liven it up, and I was happy to provide bags of garden soil for the cause! The building was also in the process of being repainted. The only downfall- old lighting hardware on the building meant that the wonderful blue lighting was sometimes finicky.

The building is slowly being renovated- but don’t worry it’s all during times when the majority of guests have either checked out or not checked in yet. In the nearly 6 months there- I was surprised how little disturbed I was by the renovations.

The front of the building needs a little TLC, but I understand they have plans for it. The pool was drained and I’m not sure if it works, it it would have been great to have a pool and use of the space.

As for staff- I can not say enough as to how wonderful they all were. From the management to the house cleaners- everyone was helpful, nice, and kept the rooms clean. They are remodeling room by room and slowly fixing up the place.

It is managed by a lovely couple who live on the first floor with their respectful children. They are nice people. Hard working and attentive to any issues you may have. I needed some paint to a door and they took care of it. They were always helpful, friendly and welcoming.

A prior tenant took apart my smoke alarm, and I told them about it at 11.30 at night and within minutes I had a new one.

For the holidays- I brought a Christmas tree and other window decorations and they allowed us to decorate the space, and bring toys for their kids and other kids in the hotel during the holiday break. I spent the majority of my time in my hotel painting or reading. And it was a good place for me to lay low and regroup.

Pets are allowed. And they even had a space out front to take your pets.

Over all for the price- this place works. And I must say that moving out was one of the hardest days of my life, simply because the management made my stay and that chapter of my life incredibly easy and stress free. Without going into detail- I could not be where I am today- 6 months after leaving- had it not been for the management and the Big 7 Motel. I truly am indebted to them for their generosity, kindness, patience, and making me feel safe, welcomed, and supported.

Thank you? Thank you! Thank you!”

“We had a reservation, but they cancelled us because the card didn't go through and we couldn't tell them to wait for us.

We were disappointed, but we understood that these things happen sometimes.

One of the staff, a front desk agent, gave us a ride so we could figure out what to do.

So, even if we didn't get to stay, we are very grateful and we thank the staff!”
