“The pharmacy (located in the back of the store): I found this gem of a pharmacy many years ago when I was looking for an alternative to a large chain. No lines, the absolute best customer service & personalized care (including text reminders if you’d like), no problem getting obscure/complicated medications, I’ve had no insurance or copay issues because the pharmacist takes the time to research, make calls, triple check coverage, etc. I am so thankful and grateful for Charlie’s Pharmacy. I can’t imagine ever suffering through another long line in a stuffy, florescent-lit-nightmare-of-a Walgreens ever again. If you appreciate being treated as a human instead of a number, with kindness, patience & empathy, & you value family-owned local businesses, then transfer your meds to Charlie’s!”
“I don't speak Spanish, and was looking for an appetite stimulant. She pulled out her smart phone to use the translator to speak to me (I hadn't thought about that). The store has all kinds of products to help you get healthy. Will go back. This young lady was very nice to me, and not rude as other commenters have stated.”

“I think they're under construction or something because it's suddenly walled off and smaller and staffed windows are on the left now. Maybe. I didn't see any signage about it, but the new lighting is horrible. It's hot and stuffy in there.”
“I've known this pharmacy for over 20 years. The owner clearly cares about the patients. I was a pharmaceutical rep back in 2002. One day he was trying relentlessly to get a prior authorization through for one of my company's drugs. He impressed me so much with his effort that it compelled me to do what I could from my end. I was able to get authorization for a free 90 day supply for the patient while he fought with insurance. Eventually the patient's insurance approved it. The pharmacists at the big stores would never have taken the amount of time or effort.”

“I had the most wonderful experience recently with this pharmacy and staff. I arrived in the city and realized I had not packed one of my medications which was essential. The pharmacist quickly helped me and was able to have my medication ready so quickly for me so we could continue our vacation without any interruption. She also made sure my insurance processed it as a vacation need so I didn’t have to pay full price. Thank you!!”
“Impressive and knowledgeable staff. They fill prescriptions promptly and with friendly service. They also go above and beyond to support their customers. They once called just before end of the business day to see if I needed my prescription filled that evening. Service is much better and thoughtful than the big box pharmacies.”
“On 3/14/25, the pharmacist was so genuinely kind. Since I didn't know how to get to the pharmacy, I walked around the perimeter of UCSF to pick up the prescription for my daughter who had surgery that day.
The pharmacist was so nice to me when I finally found the pharmacy. When I walked in, they had the prescriptions ready and he gave me simple directions back to UCSF. If he hadn't done this, I would have had to backtrack my whole route and wasted so much time.
If I lived in California, this would be the pharmacy I would use.”

“One of the few (maybe only) pharmacies that actually still answers the phone. There are always 3-4 people working there. Anytime I come either there is no line or only one person ahead of me. On top of all that, they’re nice! Walgreens is walkable from where I live, but I can take the bus to Safeway, pick up my prescriptions, grab a few groceries while I’m there and still get back faster then waiting on the Walgreens pharmacy. I wonder if I should be telling people about this? ?”

“I love this pharmacy! The employees treat me with courtesy, privacy and respect. They are really good with keeping your medications lined up so trips to the pharmacy are minimized (and they offer a personalized delivery service). I came to AHF in 2022 with a change in Insurance. It did take a week or two to set everything up when I transferred in, but it was well worth it, and there was very little effort on my end other than answering some basic questions. My favorite thing is the AM/PM blister packs which really help keeping dosing on schedule. Compared to a Walgreens/CVS, hands down I would choose AHF. Earlier than 2022 reviews are not at all similar to my experience. I would definitely recommend this pharmacy if you qualify.”

“When my local Walgreens closed I figured I’d give this place a try instead of going way out of my way to another Walgreens. I’m glad I did! There’s no app or anything overly fancy/techy but they are nice people and it truly is quite cost effective with or without insurance. It’s important to support small businesses, too. I’ll definitely keep returning for my regular prescriptions.”
