“Saw this spot while going to the city hall and knew I had to stop by! The owner is very kind and has a great knack for helping you find what you're looking for. I left with all the pieces I needed for my Bucky Barnes costume! The prices are great and so is the customer service. I definitely reccomend this place.”

“This is honestly one of the nicest thrift stores I've ever been to. It is clean, well-organzied, and fairly priced for the treats you will undoubtedly find here!”

“I'm not much of a Sonny Angel-head myself, but Classic Loot has always been undeniably cute. I've bought countless gifts for my wife and cousins here, even some DBZ socks for the bros. Def stop by and see what's in stock.”

“I lost something in an item I had donated earlier that day and all of the employees and the manager were so so nice and helpful in looking for it. I found it at home later but I still greatly appreciated their service. I’ve found some great items there too.”

“I am blessed to have this store in my town. The prices are affordable and their furniture is solid wood none of that cheep stuff you find in today's overpriced furniture stores. The people there are beautiful souls. I recommend this establishment 1000 times over before any other to family and friends, neighbors and just random strangers. God bless their humble souls and their great spirit of service to others in our community and surrounding towns.”

“Great little sustainable gem in downtown San Jose! Mostly women's clothing with some men's vintage items. All items are hand curated by the owner Araceli who is super nice and helpful. Free two hour parking in the parking garage behind the shop.”

“This review is for donation only. I came on a Monday afternoon at around 1:30pm. There was no wait to donate. To donate, you have to drive behind the building and there will be a large area to self sort (clothes, linens, books, etc). I donated baby furniture such as jumper and bouncer and worker sorted that for me. The guy was very pleasant. I decided to donate here as Hope Thrift (closer to me) doesn't accept baby furnitures. Goodwill doesn't accept car seats though which expires. There is a QR code to scan for receipt.”

“donate to this homeless shelter if you want to help feed the homeless. this shelter does provide a decent meal in the mornings. 7am and evening 5pm everyday. For beds 3 pm.
SAD THING IS THAT MANY NON HOMELESS PEOPLE GO THERE TO TAKE FOOD LEAVING THE REAL HOMELESS WITH NO FOOD. I see people getting there in a nice car. Nice clothes not homeless at all. Some people live right in the block nice homes and cars . But they take the food from the real hungry people that live on the streets.”

“This is one of the goodwill locations that I enjoy stopping by the most. I like how they have a higher end area upstairs and really polite staff here. I wish they would turn on the air conditioner when ots hot, but aside from that good location.”

“This place is a non profit thrift store run by volunteers. They are lovely ladies that work here. I have found some beautiful vintage items here. They take donated clothing items and housewares as well. Very hospitable and kind workers here ?
EDIT: Please disregard the moron that had the audacity to leave a bad review based on her trying to haggle prices at this non profit thrift shop and got pissed when the volunteers told her they couldn't change the prices. These volunteers do not get paid to deal with your greedy attitude ?”

“I've been donating to the Discovery Store for the past year, and I've noticed they now have two gentlemen working there regularly since most of the employees are volunteers. This is great because, in the past, there were times when there was no one available to open the door for donations due to space constraints. Since employing these helpers, the situation has improved significantly.

They do a fantastic job merchandising and often have high-quality items, sometimes even collectibles. Anything they don't take or that we drop off, they send to Savers.

They accept new or gently used jewelry, clothes, purses, shoes, decorations, glassware, dishes, vases, books, DVD/CDs and small appliances, but not electronics, curtains, or large furniture.

I highly recommend supporting the American Society by donating to the Discovery Store as much as possible; they are a nonprofit, unlike Savers, which is a for-profit business.

Parking is super easy. If it’s your first time donating at the store, call for the donation hours; they’re slightly less hours and entrance than the store hours.”

“Well organized, pretty nice employees. Went in today and I was frazzled by guest commotions over the shopping cart I had and the woman checking me out (Deborah G) was super patient with me even though i entirely missed a couple of her sentences. I also made a request with bagging (i wanted the cool plate on the top) and she was enthusiastically helpful about it. I hope you have a good day Deborah :)”

“Word of advice: Bring a tape measure and have someone at home to double check your measurements there. If you think you can come back later, the item will have likely sold. Shopping here is inspiring. Thx!”

“Good selection of clothing and friendly workers. Prices are a little high, but I'm used to non-California prices so Im not sure if it's the norm. They have days and weeks with specific discounts for all clothing or specific categories/tags, so look out for those. Also suggest joining their mailing list beforehand to get a coupon for 25% 1 item. July 26-27 is every clothing item for $3 each, so I'd suggest going then. Was annoyed one of the fitting room doors was broken, but the one I used was clean and well-kept.
Prices I noticed/bought from:
Shirts: $6-$12
Shorts: $6-$8
Pants: $8-$12
Dresses: $9-$13
Purses/bags: $15-$25”

“Came to donate some nice stuff but ended up in a full-on prison intake simulation. The guy at the back door barked orders like I was about to be processed—told me to stand behind a line with the authority of someone who either just got released, escaped, or moonlights as a CO. Not sure which, but honestly, 10/10 for realism. Great place to donate if you’re also prepping for jail.”

“Went in at 2:30p on a Friday and dropped off 2 boxes. There were 2 people there. One person to collect donations and another person to write the receipt. The person collecting donations was very nice and friendly. Drop off was very easy.”

“Goodwill on Alum Rock Avenue is a mixed experience, with a decent selection of clothing, furniture, and household items, but organization can be inconsistent. Some shoppers find great deals on name-brand clothing, while others mention that pricing can be unpredictable. The store layout is spacious, though certain sections feel cluttered.

Customer service is friendly but sometimes understaffed, leading to longer checkout times. While the store offers a variety of items, inventory rotates frequently, so finding specific pieces may require multiple visits. Despite occasional stock inconsistencies, it remains a solid thrift shopping option.”

“Good place to thrift for cheap clothes and accessories. Items rotate in and out, so grab whatever you want before it eventually goes! They have specific sales depending on the color of the tag as well, so there's a lot of savings here :)”

“All the employees were very helpful. The place was clean, organized and David helped me carry my stuff to the car. I didn't even have to ask! Amazing work; this is my favorite thrift store!”

“Goodwill has made it so easy to donate items that others could use. This eliminates asking people in person, which they decline for various reasons. They are conveniently located at the rear of the building. All items are clearly labeled for different items. Don't trash what people can use!”
