“Wonderful Service Experience! When I Misplaced My Wallet after Check-In Time, I Was Frantic and Back-Tracking From the Room, My Car, The Lobby, the Professional Young Man Behind the Counter Showed us the Same Care and Concern Like it Was His Own Wallet. I Ended up Finding Where it Dropped. I'm Telling Anyone: If You Want Service that Goes Above and Beyond, This is the Place You Want”

“Incredibly beautiful rooms, right over the water with a view of SF. Great bedding. Amazing service - from wine and cheese at night and free breakfast brought to your room in the morning - the service and atmosphere is amazing. Highly recommended.”
“It is clean, roomy, and has a super comfortable bed. The downside? It is $560 per night during UC Berkeley’s graduation time. Also, the surrounding area is kind of sketchy, with homeless people hanging around and trashing the front parking lot of the 7/11 store across the street. The hotel door doesn’t open as you walk in. You either have to use your room key to tap in or you have to push a buzzer to alert the person at the front desk to let you in. It is possible to take the bus (#51B) which is right in front of the hotel to go to the campus stadium for the graduation commencement. And there are fresh orchid lei sellers selling them at $45 or $55 each just outside the stadium’s entrance. No need to order them from Ashby Flower for $82.69 each (with delivery). Bus is $2.50 each way using the clipper card or $6.70 by the Tesla robotaxi from Cafe Etoile (near Trader’s Joe) to Wright House near the stadium.”

“We can’t thank the Berkeley City Club team enough for making our wedding absolutely unforgettable. Our guests were completely dazzled by the venue, and everyone had an incredible time. The food was phenomenal — which, in our experience, is rare for wedding food!
Throughout the entire planning process, the team (especially Brianne, our venue coordinator) was incredibly responsive, attentive, and detail-oriented. We were so impressed by how seamlessly Brianne stepped in after our first coordinator’s departure and how quickly she ensured everything ran flawlessly.
A heartfelt thank-you to Brianne and the entire Berkeley City Club staff for going above and beyond to make our day so special. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

“Exactly what I needed. Great location for my activities in the Berkeley/Oakland/Richmond area. Clean, quiet, updated room; clean bathroom; mini frig. New or updated hotel. Hot breakfast included with great variety. Good price. Accommodated a very early check in. Everything you expect at a Holiday Inn but hard to find elsewhere.”

“We loved this nicely maintained historic hotel. It's conveniently located right downtown and beside the ferry terminal if you want to hop an easy ride over to SF, which we did (only a 30 min ride). The rooms are a bit small, but very comfortable. Ours had a terrific view of the waterfront. Hotel has an elevator, an item often missed not in vintage lodging. Highly recommend this location.”
“I recently stayed at The Claremont Hotel, and while the property itself is stunning, the standout highlight of my visit was undoubtedly Effie at the front desk.
From the moment I walked through the doors, Effie greeted me with a level of warmth and professionalism that is rare to find. She didn't just check me in; she made me feel truly welcome. She has an incredible ability to balance efficiency with a genuine, personal touch—navigating my questions with ease and offering local recommendations that turned out to be the highlights of my trip.
What impressed me most was her attention to detail. She anticipated my needs before I even had to ask, ensuring every aspect of my stay was seamless. It’s clear that Effie takes immense pride in her work and cares deeply about the guest experience.
If you’re visiting The Claremont, you’re in excellent hands with Effie. She is a true asset to the hotel and a masterclass in hospitality!”

“At first, this review was not going to be anywhere near 4 star. Then the customer service by Angela recovered it all. There were many miscommunications I found out about during check in that I was not made aware of when the reservation was booked. I was put into a smaller room than was originally booked and it was not the greatest state (old furniture with stains). One of the elevators was broken and the other needs major TLC (Shakes, cables rattle, and tracking need service) not to mention the stairs don't even lead to the lobby and lock you out from the outside. I ran all this by the front desk (To Angela) and the next thing I know the room had been fixed and the matter had been corrected above and beyond. When my child couldn't sleep and we were walking around the lobby she was cool enough to give my kid a little stuffy toy and entertain her a little in between helping guests. Great customer service and saved the experience singlehandedly. Deserves a raise COURTYARD!”

“We had a wonderful stay here. The rooms were great especially when you’re traveling with small children. Everything was so clean and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Thank you to Lincoln and the front desk manager for helping me with late check out and laundry services. You guys were so kind! Location is central to many things and there is a Trader Joe’s across the street if you need anything for the kids.”

“Awesome hotel. Fantastic location, great restaurant right next door, and dog friendly!
Josh & Rolando at the front desk could not have been nicer and more accommodating... They both deserve a raise and a promotion!”
“The staff was very flexible. I originally booked for the wrong date through booking.com. I called the Inn directly and explained what happened. They arrange a room for a party of two. I needed the room for that evening. Marina Inn Berkeley is 2.1 miles from UCB. I am very grateful to the staff for helping me out at the last minute and providing us a very tidy and clean bedroom. It was a very pleasant stay. Thank you”

“Had a 1 night stay recently with the husband and this hotel is so charming and filled with character. The owner is absolutely darling! It's in a nice location and there's a small parking lot which was a huge selling point for us. Berkeley Inn was perfect for our stay and totally affordable. Thank you for having us!”
“Close to center of village. Comfortable, cozy room and amenities. Outstanding, friendly, helpful people. All good. What really stands out is a few small details. The soap/shampoo/cream was Italian Blood Orange smell that was amazing. Towels were thicker and softer the expected. Clearly the folks behind this inn are engaged in guests' great experience!”
“The room was clean. Toilet flushed GREAT! Our room had been remodeled recently & they did a nice job. Bed comfortable. Shower was beautiful. Beware: NO COFFEE in the room or at all.
The grounds were spotless & well maintained. We felt safe on the ground floor. But two blocks from the hotel is an overpass & under the bridge is a very big homeless encampment.
That was a big scare. But the hotel itself (except for no coffee) is good!”

“I would give this property 10 stars if I could! I’ll start with the property itself; the reception area was clean and inviting, the food in the restaurant was a surprisingly big portion, and the bedroom was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained.
The real gem of this property are the people that work there. My eldest brother passed away and I had to quickly make arrangements to visit The Bay Area for a few days while I handled his final affairs. Every single person I encountered was kind, compassionate, respectful, helpful. They all expressed their condolences, and Erika allowed my family to use the conference room so we could hold a family meeting to finalize my brother’s arrangements. It was such a big relief to know that my lodging was handled with care and compassion during such a stressful time.
I really want to thank Ancira, Gina, Erika, and Yasmine for their outstanding professionalism, hospitality, and compassion during my stay! There was another young lady who was extremely helpful!! She got my dad some hazelnut creamer for his coffee and was very accommodating when I needed to extend my checkout. I didn’t get her name, but I also appreciate her hospitality as well. This type of customer service will absolutely keep me as a returning Hilton customer! You should give them all a raise!”

“This hotel is everything you can expect from a 30 year old delapitated building, but the owners have made every attempt to make it a beautiful and comfortable stay, the rooms are very clean, and the bedding Is of higher quality and comfortability then most chain hotels I have stayed at in my recent travels, also special delight, the shower is nothing short of a spa experience, im having a hard time getting ready y o check out without one last shower, I recommend this hotel highly because this owner has taken an experience that is very stereotypical of city hotels, an elevated it, with security protocols making me feel safe, and added little details y ou would not expect, so are quite delightful when made aware of them making a overwhelming impression, IE...having a very strong no smoking policy understandably, providing an area to do so if one chooses is very smart.”
“Don't let the location steer you away from this motel. The inside is really nice and clean. The rooms are spacious and outside noise wasn't an issue. The man at the front desk was very helpful and accomplished. I really appreciate his help and, should I be in the location again, I would definitely stay here again.”

“Very convenient location - close to downtown and grocery is right next door. Staff super helpful and kind. Room is clean and quiet. Bistro on the first floor is nice for a morning coffee and pastries. Beware though there's no parking for this hotel.”
“This is the best gym in town. Memberships starting at $60/month or so and you get access to a great gym, pool, indoor basketball courts, decent locker rooms with a sauna and a steam room, plus great programming for all ages. Since I moved to Berkeley I’m at the Y at least 4 times a week!”

“At the rate paid for the room was awesome. A glass walk-in shower with sliding doors, and a body mirror in the bathroom was awesome. Clean wrapped 6 ounce gargling cups or beverage cups. The bathroom was clean with clean towels, hand towels, and face towels. The bedding was comfortable, I could not get up. The television worked and the sockets in the wall to recharge electric appliances. Most of all, I like the studying desk. For under a hundred dollars a night, I consider it fare market value....”

“Stayed here with my wife for our 2year anniversary. The hotel was extremely clean and well-lit. Fun, kind and very informative staff and not once did we ever feel like a headache for walking up with questions. The ONLY things keeping this from being 5 stars was that i noticed fruit flies in the room. Usually isnt a good sign, especially as a food safety manager. And the bathroom (at least in our room) didnt have a fan? Taking a shower fogged up the entire room. Im sure this is discourage guests from smoking but at least introduce some better forms of ventilation.”

“Dont expect to much but if you are in a budget this would be considered. No problem with the location, it is surrounded by foodies restaurant. What i dont like here is that one (1) hour before the check out, they will knock at your door informing you about the check out time. Staffs are not good and not bad.”

“I stayed at the Carquinez Inn for two nights and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service and the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the check-in and check-out process was smooth and fast. The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, a flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom. The balcony was a nice touch, and the wifi was reliable. The hotel also has a garden and a terrace, which are great for relaxing. The location is convenient, close to the Carquinez Strait and the Mare Island Naval Shipyard. The price was very reasonable for the value. The only downside was the noise from the nearby road, which could be bothersome at night. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Carquinez Inn and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent and affordable place to stay in Vallejo.”
“Still under renovation in the front lobby. But the room is completely remodeled. Very nice room and once complete, will be a great place to stay. Staff is very courteous”
