“Gorgeous hotel and refuge in the middle of Berkeley. Comfortable rooms, beautiful building. It's a Julia Morgan building and I love everything about it. Courtyard is a lovely place to be.”

“5 stars all around! The staff is amazing! The location is amazing! Walking distance to a BART station, to the Berkeley campus, to the water. This place restored my faith in hotels! The room was clean and modern and everything worked! It's a new hotel so of course it's nice but they seem to be taking really really good care of it. I also thought it was really cool how they have bicycles you can borrow for the day and the views from the rooftop at sunset were beautiful! Everything about the hotel just felt luxurious from the lobby to the hallways to the rooms, I forgot I was staying at a Best Western hahaThe staff was out of this world! Customer service skills 100! I can't say enough good things about the staff. The doors weren't setup to be used with the room cards yet so they had to let us in every time and one night we didn't get back until 3am and the girl was super nice and said "no it's okay I hope you guys had fun!" cause we kept apologizing for her having to let us in. They were also so quick to get our car from valet, I forget the managers name but he hustled! He made sure our stay was fantastic! The breakfast was very nice too! Not those basic little muffins and some assorted fruit but very fancy pastries, I had a large chocolate croissant every morning. It was so good. I highly recommend this hotel! It's been a while since I've stayed there but I hope it's stayed the same.”

“Not actually a 5 star hote of coursel, but a clean motel in a great location with friendly and helpful front desk. Rooms are well maintained with all standard amenities, except AC, which was not needed. A nice fan was provided. 100% would stay here again.”

“We came here for a concert at the Greek theater, walking distance. The location is perfect for that. The location is on campus and close to restaurants and shopping. Free breakfast next door at Cafe Strada was a bonus. You get a coffee ( latte, etc), pastry, fresh fruit, and OJ. The location is next two greek houses so a little loud at times. Parking is $15/night.Rooms: Rooms are small, no AC but ceiling fan”

“Review is just for the coffee shop downstairs. Needed a quick cup of joe for a ride across the bay and this place was conveniently located across the street. Came in and got a cafe au lait which was creamy and delicious. The space is a little tight and can't really fit more than 1-2 people by the entrance and once you order and pay, there are just a few tables indoors that you can choose to sit at.”

“If you happen to get room 123, here are a few tips.1. Turn on the bathroom light immediately. It flickers for about 45 minutes before it becomes steady. DON'T TURN IT OFF UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO CHECK OUT.2. Don't look at the porch light. It strobes. Forever.3. If you have an SUV, you're gonna have a hard time parking. That's with any unit you rent. But don't park in that right corner 2 spaces to the right of the vending and ice machine.4. The lever to the shower is a little tricky to get it to the right temp. It turns on, then off, then on again leaving you puzzled as to where hot and cold REALLY is. Just know you're going to be in there at least 5 minutes before you can actually take a shower.5. Don't panic! No one is trying to open your door. That's next door unit 122. The doors and walls are kinda thin.Other than that we slept on to top the blankets in our sweats.Decent place to crash, though. Just hit that light in the bathroom of room 123 immediately! Was decent for the price.Walkability: Very close to North Berkeley BART.”

“Having put up with 4 years of a college gym, it was nice to finally move on. At $40/month for young adults, you too can experience the magic of the Y. A free weights room, tons of cardio machines, weight racks, circuit machines, a pool, cycling room, courts, and more, you can really do it all. On top of that, they have a sauna & steamroom for a calming cool down after your workout. You have to bring your own lock to use their day lockers in the locker room, otherwise they also have some digital lockers available where you make a PIN code. They also have some weekends where you can bring a guest for free and a referral program. Happy to have a nice welcoming space to get some physical activity done”

“We booked the Claremont for our wedding suite and couldn't have been happier. The room was spacious and had a beautiful view of the bay, and the grounds had a 20th-century, luxiorious feel without seeming too outdated. Each member of the staff we coordinated with was very friendly and flexible as well.”

“The staff here makes up for the unfortunate criminals that steal important things with no monetary value. I hope business for this establishment increases and the night lady gets a raise and promotion.”

“I have to start by saying, do not be dissuaded to book here due to most reviews. People are more likely to post to complain they're bad experiences or due to high expectations that weren't met. I'm glad I booked this hotel regardless of the less than reviews on google and yelp. My experience could not have gone smoother. Reading amenities before booking, yes there is a $35 overnight parking fee so if you look at the site, there are no hidden charges so I was fine with that. At check in on 2/9/24 at 2PM we were greeted very warmly, given their delicious warm cookies and offered bottled water. Also while checking in, we decided on upgrading to a water front view which was only a $30 upgrade from the room we already paid for. Front desk staff and valet that we had at that time couldn't have been more awesome and accommodating and genuinely seemed to care that we were happy and taken care of. Bottom-line, they were absolutely fabulous. And also, yes, we also requested to have early check-in. We were given a floor room with a patio with the requested water view and I must say, while yes the rooms were a little dated by only a decade however, they were absolutely clean, neat and clean smelling. And while walking the grounds every staff member we came across were absolutely friendly. From maintenance to housekeeping and other staff that moved throughout the location. Even at check out the next day, front desk was awesome and teased why we were leaving so soon, playful banter like that makes it personable and fun that we were so tempted to stay one more night. While I was not expecting a 5 star hotel I definitely didn't get a 3 star or less. They hold at a solid 4 and I do plan to make that one of my regular places to stay when we decide to go up North from our home in Los Angeles.”

“I have spent countless nights at this hotel. The location is perfect. Walking distance to UCB and many restaurants. A parking garage near by as well. The hotel is converted by an old building that has no insulation between floors and maybe not inside the walls as well. I can hear my neighbors’ phone conversations word by word. And occasionally snoring as well.Rooms: Rooms are small but newly renovated. There are many room types. You have chance to get some really weird room.”
