“I have a mostly positive review but keep in mind I pay for rooms that either overlook the pool when available(2nd level) or are poolside (you walk out of your room straight to the pool). So I have no idea about the interior rooms with other views.
The upstairs rooms overlooking the pool are great in my experience. They're spacious, have wood floors (no gross carpeting), nice big TV that swivels, fridge/microwave, queen bed it pretty comfy and there's a balcony. I think they can do a better job of policing the noise level later at night once the pool closes, but it's not crazy.
I don't like the first floor pool access rooms because I have to keep the curtains closed in the morning until I'm up and dressed because there's no privacy. People walk by and can see in. I like sleeping with the blinds open.
I would say the hotel rooms are ready for remodeling, but the rates are decent (I guess depending on time of year, San Diego hotel availability, etc.) for what you get.
Unfortuntaly, don't forget the $30 for parking which sucks.
I've never found the front desk people very welcoming/thanking me for being a Bonvoy member. They do say if you want a bottle of water, you can walk over and grab a free one from the snacks section next to the counter. Great, one more thing for me to have to carry lol. No idea why they just don't stock the room fridge.
Overall, I think you're mostly paying for the awesome location and it is great. You're only about a 10-minute walk to Del Mar Shores Beach which is kind of a lesser known location because there's no big public beach parking lot. You're essentially in a neighborhood. The overlook of the ocean is unbelievable, expecially at sunset.
You better be in shape if you want to go down to the beach because it's not a simple climb back up the steep stairs! :)”
