“This reveiw is for the Recreation Center right next to this Gym. (For the Rec/Wrec). I went there when I was in middle school and it was the best. For Parents- there is 1 school right beside and another right behind. the staff have the kids do their homework or read a book until if they don't, they don't get to play with the PlayStation/Xbox or the pool table. For Kids- there's a gym right next to it, a library right in Front of it, and you can walk to it after school from Kempton or La Press Middle (STEAM). Also, there is a PlayStation AND Xbox, a pool table, and a "soccer table" game.”

“I have visited this YMCA twice and it continues to be my favorite location. Because it is always clean, greater amount of equipment and machines available and a dedicated stretch room! Aside from all that there is a nice soccer field, basketball court and tennis area for members. I wish I could come more often! I highly recommend this location. However it is a second story gym with elevator included.”

“Amazing gym! I have been coming here since 2018 and have loved it from day 1! All the trainers are incredible! I love that I can lift weights at my boot camps but also get my cardio classes at my fight camps! I love the accountability that you get not only from your trainers but your gym buddies that you will for sure get. I want to work out because they make the classes fun and for all levels! There are young and old, in shape and those who are beginning our journey! I've never felt judged or out of place! If you're looking for a gym go here!”

“I’ve been a loyal member at Orange Theory Fitness Eastlake for several years now. The combination of a supportive staff, engaging workouts, and a strong sense of community truly stands out. It’s evident that group fitness, especially High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), is not only popular but backed by extensive research for its effectiveness in fitness. The unique color-coded exertion levels—green, orange, and red—allow for a personalized workout experience, catering to one’s pace and intensity. The dedication of the front desk staff and coaches in providing support is remarkable, further enhancing the inclusive community vibe that’s rare in other fitness studios or gyms. While there are many positives, like community, staff and effectiveness of workout ; there are also areas for improvement. The franchise model under a central governing body sometimes limits the incorporation of member feedback into the workout protocols.Specific points of concern include:1. Expanding the 2G Class Format: Previously, coaches could adjust to accommodate more than 34 members based on demand, but this flexibility has been restricted, leading to waitlists and limited access during peak hours. This is compounded by New years resolutions and OTF transformaiton challenge (members pays $35 for weight and body compostion analysis during an week period. During the Transformation challenge members are expected to attend 3 classes a week.2. Equipment Maintenance: With only one regional maintenance person, the upkeep of equipment like rowers and treadmills suffers, affecting usability. Even basics like ensuring cool water from the water machine, which has been dispensing warm water for months, are overlooked.3. Studio Cleanliness: Despite the staff’s efforts, the cleaning schedule does not keep up with high usage, and a professional cleaning service could improve the situation to perform regular deep cleaning.4. Member Feedback and Service: Although feedback is collected, it often seems neglected, with little action taken on issues raised by members. A more proactive approach and an additional forum for the leadership team to address and respond to member concerns would be beneficial. Members want to be heard and their concerned acknowledged and addresed.Orange Theory Fitness Eastlake is more than just a gym—it’s a community where staff and members alike invest their hearts and souls, creating a familial atmosphere. Like any organization, there are challenges, especially in maintaining a close connection with the community from a distance. As the southernmost studio, addressing these issues could elevate our experience to one of the premier fitness offerings in the Southbay.”

“I have a few friends who go or have gone to NXPT and they all have loved it so I decided to give it a try. I signed up for the 10 days for $10 deal-- which is a total steal since you're able to use both the La Mesa location (which is also next to their yoga and spin studio) and the Kearny Mesa location. After my 10th day, I immediately signed up for a membership. After learning that they have a nurse/military discount, this sealed the deal for me. The Workouts: I mostly do the 45 minute classes (X45) and the hot power fusion yoga. They offer X30, spin, pump, and WOD classes. The workouts are challenging and I leave feeling satisfied with my workouts, even the warm alone leaves you breathless haha. The X45 and X30 classes are mixed with cardio and strength, the pump class has less cardio. What I would appreciate though is if there was a set schedule of what body part we'll be focusing on each day so that I can plan around the week if I'm not able to go to an NXPT class. However, NXPT is very active on Instagram so I always just look at their stories in the morning so I know what to expect for my workout-- this works for me as I go in the later morning classes. The instructors/community: Everyone that I've taken a class with has been amazing! Shout out to Ali, Mariana, Ryan, Dan, and Dafna for HPF! They make you feel welcome and will push you to challenge yourself. The people I've met in these classes are nice and very welcoming-- this was a big reason why I signed up for a membership. Location: There's ample parking for both locations. I've never had a problem finding one but I only go in the mornings though, so I can't speak for the afternoon classes. Overall, NXPT has very welcoming members, amazing instructors, and workouts that will certainly challenge you. I'm so glad I signed up, highly recommend!!”

“I started at this gym January 2nd 2024 and I’ve been invited to 5 parties, lost 30 lbs, competed 3 times, and continue to meet new incredible people and try new classes! The class floor plan changes each week and follows a similar pattern throughout each day and usually alternates upper body and lower body focus days. At least that is what I’ve noticed. You have the opportunity to do heavier work sometimes and then there is also 4 CrossFit style classes a week if you enjoy Olympic lifting and CrossFit movements. All the trainers are super great that I’ve had so far and are knowledgeable about the movements and mobility! Highly recommend especially for endurance based training and cross training. It’s really helped me lose the weight! They have a few challenges a year and the prices are good and it’s fun to get points! Come to the 430pm class and say hi!”

“One of the best gyms I've ever visited! It's uncommon to find a gym where the coaches go above and beyond for an individual, but that's not the case here.”

“The coaching, equipment and community at 1904 is unbeatable! I joined open gym/OLY in April and was immediately adopted into the community as if I’d been working out there my whole life. With Josh’s Olympic lifting coaching and programming I have PR’d every lift within the span of 3 months. If you are looking to get fit and make friends this is the place for you!”

“I've been going here 3-4 times a week now for over a year, and I can't recommend Will Power more highly. Will is the friendliest owner ever, and his passion for having a welcoming gym is felt every time I step in. Gym has everything you need whether you're an avid bodybuilder/powerlifter or have other fitness priorities. I'm so grateful to have found a gym I truly feel is a second home for me, and I won't be switching gyms any time soon. Try a trial day and see for yourself, but I promise you won't regret it!”

“I have to start by saying that Rob, the owner of Southpark Fitness, is amazing!! He's always there to greet me with a smile and make sure that I have everything I need for my workout. I love that he brings his dog with him - it really adds to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the gym. And it's great that his son works there too, you can really tell that it's a family-owned business that cares about its members. The rest of the staff is amazing as well - Elena and Michael Angelo are always friendly, so kind, and helpful. I really appreciate that the gym is not busy, so I never have to wait around for equipment. The environment is comfortable and laid back, which makes it easy to focus on my workout and enjoy my time at the gym. Overall, I'm really happy with my decision to join Southpark Fitness and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a gym with a friendly and dedicated owner and staff.”

“Chris is awesome and was willing to talk with me over the phone extensively about the gym and everything the BXNG CLUB has to offer. I took my first class with Dominick Lanzetta and his experience as a fighter and coach definitely was on display. He demonstrates excellent fundamentals and has a deep appreciation for the technical side of fighting. He also makes sure to engage with each and every student during class to correct mistakes and help them progress faster. After my first class, Anthony and Meredith at the front desk were super helpful explaining membership options to me. As a college student on a very low budget, Anthony and Meredith worked with me to present options that would be more flexible with my financial situation. And they both did not push too hard to sell me on the gym, instead looking after me as a human being, which I respected and appreciated. Overall, I have only been to this (Kearny Mesa) location of the BXNG CLUB, but if the others are anywhere near as good, then I understand why so many people enjoy learning from the professionals here. Excited to continue my fighting journey with these lovely folks!”

“I've been coming to BU since 2018 and there is no other place like it. Francine does an amazing job creating an inclusive environment for women to come and weight lift in small groups. She both challenges you and makes modifications when needed. Classes are well paced and perfect for work schedules whether you need an early morning or evening class. I've learned so much about weight lifting, form, and nutrition from Francine over the years while hitting PRs throughout. A fun bonus is the community outings we do throughout the year. There is no other community like this! Check it out, it is 110% worth your while.”

“Get ready to feel accomplished after your first workout. My husband and I signed up for personal training and we’ve made through our first four lessons, so far so good! We’re already feeling progress.Coaches Kim and Jeff are amazing and practice what they preach. (They’re fit) ??I recommend their style of personal training because it’s not boring and we look forward to each “obstacle course” they set up for us.For starting out, I knew I needed personal training because I didn’t have the discipline to follow an outlined set of workouts on my own.Having the coaches there, I’m able to focus , keep a proper form, and follow their instructions- that get’s my wheels turning and I don’t slack off. I know I am getting a great FULL workout.Great place and great people. Thanks!”

“I cannot rave enough about East County Crossfit! I started coming here when I moved to San Diego in 2023. Although there are many great coaches at East County, I have spent the most time with Coach Paul and Coach Erica. Both are fabulous coaches that are focused on preventing injury and helping you become strong and more athletic.I used to think that Crossfit was too intense for me or that I would bulk up. Spoiler alert, it is actually somewhat difficult to build muscle and found that instead of becoming bulky, I have become more lean and fit. And so much stronger! East County offers 3 different options at each workout, level 1, level 2 and an alternate option (like weight vest Wednesday), plus a fun partner workout on Fridays. Any one of any fitness level is able to join with the help of these fabulous coaches. My favorite part about East County is that it gave me a community when moving to a new city. I actually look forward to my 5:15am workout class! Okay, I also really appreciate the focus on longevity and preparing our bodies to be healthy as we age. I highly recommend this gym!”

“I recently tried Xplicit Fitness and I'm hooked! Chad and Mike were really nice trainers. I especially like Mike's playful teaching style. I will definitely go back especially since they're super close to where I live. Across from Vons and in the same plaza as Chamorro Grill/Alkaline Water/Reptile Store, this is a great place to go to before or after work. There is a glove fee but it is only $2. The classes are also available on classpass and they have a one day free trial available on their website. Parking: plenty of parking but you might get blocked by the drive thru line of cuppa cuppa coffee if you park close to it Recommend: bring your own gloves & towel! (You will definitely get sweaty)”
