“We had a great experience with SMCU to help refinance my mother's car loan. Everyone I talked to, whether on the phone or in person, was extremely helpful. Bernabe was our loan officer and he was extremely patient and flexible working through our needs. He took the extra effort to explain the different options and help us understand our best chances of getting approved by the underwriters. He also helped us to get our interest rate adjusted due to a special case we had. All in all, we had a great experience with the team at SMCU and I would highly recommend others to look at them for their auto refinancing needs!”
“This is a great bank... it's that simple. It's great because the staff truly wants to help their customers. I visited the branch a week ago for the first time to deposit an insurance refund check. The teller, Jennifer Robles, was super friendly and very competent. I reached for my driver's license... oops... I had forgotten to bring my wallet. No problem. Jennifer confirmed my ID through records on file and finished the transaction lickety split.Today, I visited the Redwood City branch, again. As trustee for my mom's estate, I stopped by to close out her account. As luck would have it, Jennifer was my teller, again. This was only the second time I had been inside this branch and she remembered me. There was a glitch with a utility charge on the account, but Jennifer quickly enlisted the help of branch manager, Heherson "John" Balico to solve the problem. He surmised that a utility payment had been charged twice in error and he credited the second charge back to the account. It was such a relief to have a banking professional trying to help me instead of shrugging and saying there was nothing the bank could do. John impressed me as being someone who is genuine and who is committed to doing the best job for each customer he meets.Well, it was time to go back to Jennifer. She prepared a cashier's check to close out my mom's account... no charge. The entire time spent inside the branch was a super positive experience. Banks are largely the same. There's not a whole lot of difference in their services, but what makes a difference is the people working inside the bank. If you live in or near Redwood City, I recommend you take a look at Bank of the West. Jennifer, John and the rest of the staff will treat you right.”

“Just a couple of days ago, I walked into the Stanford campus SCFU branch for the first time. within short moments was accosted and invited by Michelle Matias to an office to assist with my planned deposits. I was confused about CDs versus money market accounts and mostly about liquidity of cash. Michelle was not only knowledgeable but with clarity, she helped me make wise and informed decisions. It may be true that a lot of this information is on the web, but I need my questions answered directly without "FAQs". “I've been a member of SFCU for about 20 years. The Customer Support has always been above par. My most recent encounter was no different. My son and I were helped by 'Jenny' at the Palo Alto branch. She took the time to help us with our accounts, answer question, and explain to my son, in great detail, everything he needed to know about credit cards and his options for saving money. We never felt rushed, and she had clear answers for all of our questions. You can't ask for more than that in a banking experience. Note: I only give four stars because I have to drive an hour to visit the nearest branch. But I realize that's not their fault.”

It was an urgent matter given I anticipated collecting the new car on Sunday. I was served by the assistant branch manager there, Leena, who was very congenial and gregarious, courteous, understanding, receptive to my requests, and interpersonally effective. The existing issue was promptly and conscientiously solved, and I was on my way in no time. I recommend them without any reservations.”
“Just closed my account today due to current complication with FRB's stock dropped 99% and assets sold to JP Morgan.The service was as good as the day I went there and opened my account. No questions asked, every necessary details provided to me and swift service without even one second of delay.
