“I really like this bank, it’s warm and welcoming, with superb customer service. Love the fresh coffee. They also have notary services for members for free. I like to acknowledge Damaris Galindo, the traveling assistant manager there. She is super friendly, fast and knowledgeable. We went to her for notary service related to our home, she welcomed us, went through all the docs, helped us clarify with our lawyer a section that was unclear, and completed everything for us in timely manner. We are so grateful to Damaris and to the bank.???”
“This is a great bank... it's that simple. It's great because the staff truly wants to help their customers. I visited the branch a week ago for the first time to deposit an insurance refund check. The teller, Jennifer Robles, was super friendly and very competent. I reached for my driver's license... oops... I had forgotten to bring my wallet. No problem. Jennifer confirmed my ID through records on file and finished the transaction lickety split.Today, I visited the Redwood City branch, again. As trustee for my mom's estate, I stopped by to close out her account. As luck would have it, Jennifer was my teller, again. This was only the second time I had been inside this branch and she remembered me. There was a glitch with a utility charge on the account, but Jennifer quickly enlisted the help of branch manager, Heherson "John" Balico to solve the problem. He surmised that a utility payment had been charged twice in error and he credited the second charge back to the account. It was such a relief to have a banking professional trying to help me instead of shrugging and saying there was nothing the bank could do. John impressed me as being someone who is genuine and who is committed to doing the best job for each customer he meets.Well, it was time to go back to Jennifer. She prepared a cashier's check to close out my mom's account... no charge. The entire time spent inside the branch was a super positive experience. Banks are largely the same. There's not a whole lot of difference in their services, but what makes a difference is the people working inside the bank. If you live in or near Redwood City, I recommend you take a look at Bank of the West. Jennifer, John and the rest of the staff will treat you right.”

Last week stopped by their main office at Embarcadero Road in Palo Alto to open an account and apply for vehicle financing. Martha helped us with onboarding. She knows what's needed and got me taken care of quickly. Mo took over the vehicle finance and she did an amazing job as well. “I came to BMO one day to open my first bank account because my family trusts this bank a lot. Katrina helped me set up my checking & savings accounts, and gave me all the resources and instructions I needed. She presented everything in a way that was easy to understand and showed me how to navigate the bank. I was just really surprised by the hospitality of the services here. I even got some free BMO swag when we were done!
They seemed a little short staffed on the day I came, but it wasn't very busy to begin with. I wonder if a lot of these negative reviews I am seeing are from when this bank was still Bank of the West, because I haven't noticed any problems with BMO (yet). Overall, 4/5.”

“I ran into an issue with my new account and called the 800 number, and while they were helpful, I just wanted to talk to someone face-to-face to figure out my options. After I goofed up the online appointment system and showed up on the wrong day, Robert was understanding and helpful. He helped me understand my options and what I should do next. What I most appreciated was that he made recommendations based on what would work best for me, rather than just trying to make a sale.”

One thing to improve: add a ticket machine so that you do not need to wait in a line for a teller, so that the teller registers you to be in line, if you need to go to the cubicle to speak with an employee. If you find it confusing, it is.”

“Outstanding branch. I visited 3 times last week to take care of issues with my late mother's estate. Everyone who I worked with (Ain, Leena, Wendy and Zahra) are friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. Leena, the branch manager, jumped in to help when the issues were a bit complicated. She also personally helped me when Ain was busy with another customer. Based upon the great customer service by the entire staff, this branch is very well managed.
Update (12/8/2024): On Friday, I visited a 4th time to complete the issues with my mother's estate (after back office reviews completed). This time I worked with Wendy and Leena again, but also Diane, the only member of the team I had not worked with. LIke her co-workers, Diane was also very friendly, professional and efficient. I highly recommend this branch.”
