“When a family member volunteered to be my kidney donor, I felt a strong responsibility to thoroughly research Denver’s transplant hospitals. While I’m confident that any of the facilities would have provided excellent care, Porter Adventist Hospital stood out as the best fit for my needs. Now, nearly six months after my surgery, I’d like to share my experience.
1. Quality of Care
From surgeons and physicians to nurses and pharmacists, every member of the Porter team delivered exceptional medical care. Their professionalism, compassion, and attentiveness made a significant difference in my recovery. While I was in the hospital, the transplant team met with me at least once a day to assess my progress and answer my questions.
2. Staff Interactions
The nursing staff was consistently attentive, caring, and responsive. Their warm demeanor and prompt assistance made me feel at ease. The surgeons and physicians listened carefully to my concerns and provided quick, effective responses. The pharmacy team went above and beyond—answering my medication questions and even helping resolve insurance issues.
3. Facility Cleanliness
The hospital was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Housekeeping staff, much like the nursing team, greeted me by name and even wished me luck before my surgery. Their friendliness and attention to detail helped create a truly welcoming environment.
4. Communication
The medical team kept me fully informed about my treatment plan and progress. They patiently answered my questions and used humor when appropriate, which helped ease my anxiety. I also appreciated the convenience of the online portal and telehealth visits for follow-up care.

“Eva received me with a friendly greeting and started my “intake” right away. I waited maybe a minute between seeing her and seeing Dr. Chow. He asked questions. He made recommendations. He helped me think through my deductible. He genuinely cared about my health. We spent longer together than any Doc I have seen in recent memory. I recommend you come prepared. If you have questions write them down beforehand. You will get them answered. This is in contrast to the approach of, I can see you today for this one thing, then we will make an appointment for some other thing. You can actually make some progress with a little planning.”

“My son and I have been seeing this doctor since 2021. He is always nice and kind. The staff in the office is very nice as well. We really like Dr. Khoi as our family doctor because he always takes good care of us. What I appreciate most is that he personally performs the blood tests and check-ups, which makes the office feel very warm and welcoming. He may not be the most elegant, but what he lacks in elegance, he makes up for in human warmth. That is the most important thing for us. I highly recommend this doctor to anyone or any family who prefers a more traditional and personal approach to medical care. He is an excellent doctor, and we hope to continue receiving his care for a long time.”
“Steven Chae was my pediatrician in 2009 until I had my first child in 2018 and he’s now my children's pediatrician. He’s had the same 2 nurses since I’ve been a patient and their whole team is nothing less of amazing. He’s responsive, dedicated, caring and my children take to him very well. There are tons of misleading reviews and they mainly targeted at his political propaganda which honestly, has no affect on his care for the patient(s). Any question, comments or concerns have always been first priority to Dr. Chae! I LOVE him and his team!!”
