“The lengthy title says it all: Sunshine Salvage Amish Discount Grocery & Country Store. In the middle of Monte Vista, CO lies this moderate looking store. There could be another sign or two advertising the place, however, Google Maps will lead you strait to it. A very nice Amish woman laughed at my cowboy's jokes and asked me if I was related to another local. To my knowledge, I am not! Lol. The parking lot was gravel with unmarked spaces. A sleepy dog with wavy yellowish-brown hair greeted us gently, but immeditely went back to snoozing. Inside the semi-dusty country store was a surprising amount of everything one could possibly need in a pinch: + dried beans and pastas + nuts and all the baking goods + pie filling + canned goods + household supplies + personal hygiene items + cold drinks and snacks + cat/dog commodities I picked up a jar of locally-made blackberry jam, apple cider vinegar, and drinks for the kids all for under $13. Keep in mind that items like dented canned goods and some smashed packaged items are sold with deep discounts. They do not sell much meat aside from the canned variety. I paid cash for our items, but they do accept plastic. I will definitely be here in the future. TIP The store is open daily except on Sunday 9AM-5PM. Also, their bakery is open only a few days of the week which we sadly missed out on.”

“Kroger has bought Safeway as of September 2023.The end of a very expensive union that drove prices up.Kroger will bring better prices and more affordable products.Kroger also owns its own organic dairies. ❤️Kroger gas stations have always been lower than Safeway who actually charges more so it can make sure the consumer actually lose their first 10 cents off per gallon on their first 100 dollars spent in Safeway.Safeway has been a totall rip off with their freezers constantly breaking down with milk often curdling before the expiration date to include cheese purchases going bad before their expiration as well due to the constant temperatures in their freezer being at the wrong Temps!Kroger brings a more honest trade!”
