“Visited the post office around 4pm on a Wednesday. The gentlemen working recognized that we were not super familiar with postage and kindly taped our package (while noting that it did need to be taped), helped us figure out the zip code to an address we were given the incorrect zip code to, and gave us the address of the nearest UPS for a return we needed to make through them. We were very thankful for his patience and assistance.”
“Our postmaster, Temple, is just the best! Mail often gets screwed up here-either companies put our street address or send it to the East Hampton zip code which takes it to the East Hampton post office instead. He has taken the time to make a list of all of our addresses/post boxes & really goes out of his way to ensure we always get our mail promptly in an area without mailboxes. Always helpful, always friendly, he goes the extra mile when others don’t. He even decorates our little post office with his own decorations for holidays & events, creating a really warm neighborhood vibe. We have been through 4 postmasters at this location in my 4 years here & I have liked them all, but I really hope Temple sticks around!”
“This team is the best ever encountered : friendly, patient, efficient and cheerful even under pressure. They never shut the doors 10 minutes before 5 like other clerks do : they stay late and accommodate all customers. The Durham P O team is the best!”
“I like this post office. It is much better than going to the New Britain post office (in my humble opinion). I am usually able to get in and out of here quickly.
The staff here is always helpful to me.
There are cheaper options for shipping larger items, but as far as the U.S. Postal Service goes, this place is top notch.”

“Convenient but very small post office. Usually has only one person behind the counter. If you happen to need stamps and 2 people are ahead of you, it may take a while. But it's has a more old fashioned feel and I like that.”
“So Julie at Cromwell post office was rude and unhelpful- the manager at Cromwell agreed and got us into Middletown post office for our passport
We were met with 2 individuals Sue and Bree who were helpful, service friendly and knew who Julie was bc they had dealt with several others that had bad experiences at Cromwell
Therefore this is a shout out to those individuals- Julie and Bree- who went out of the way to help us- when the rest of the postal service let us down- and were kind humans

“Kind of small for a post office but I have seen smaller but does it really matter how big the size of the building is they get the job done and that's what matters plus they have Po boxes available for people if they need them and what ever else u may need to send stuff.”

“11/29/25 We walked into get passport for our 3 children. Asia greeted us very kindly and delivered speedy service. She walked us through the process and was very knowledgeable. My wife and I felt very welcomed and at ease with the whole process start to finish. Asia processed our paperwork quickly and accurately. Manuel patiently took our kids pictures even though some of the kids were wiggly. Top notch service. We are very pleased. A staff member came out and gave our kids activity books, stickers, and crayons to our kids. Very accommodating. Extremely professional and efficient! Thank you and Great Job Asia!”

I was having issues receiving my mail.
Mr. Rafael emailed me and called me to make sure my issues were resolved.
I was having a really rough day at work,when I received Rafael’s phone call, He Took steps to resolve my issue that I really appreciate, But we just laughed about it, I enjoyed the phone call very much and I think that this post office is very lucky to have a person like him Working for them.
He took actions to resolve my issues and took the time to understand my issue.
Because I basically thought I would have to file a lawsuit against this office For interfering with my federal rights of receiving my mail.”
“These guys have been absolutely incredible in the process of locating my packages. The pastfew years I have moved around the state and dealt with many post offices across Connecticut, and Portland by far cares the most about the individuals in this town.Not sure if they got a new post master or what exactly happened because when I first moved here I was having some minor delivery issues, but they seriously go above and beyond to help people out and they deserve some real recognition for it.Be a decent human when you talk to them- they’re stretched very thin, and still are managing to do their best despite the circumstances. They risk their lives daily to get us our Amazon packages and Time magazine subscriptions. Thank you guys.”
“Typically efficient, and I'm able to get in & out in a reasonable amount of time.
Once in a while, they have fewer staff and if you happen to walk in at the same time as a bunch of others the wait can be longer. However, you can't plan for this.”
“Whenever I come to this post office my postal needs are met by Michael he is a very patient and friendly person. I’ve seen people who must go on a regular basis go in and know him by name they speak like long time friends. That to me is great costumer service:):) We need more people like him!!”

“I gave this PO 5 stars a couple years back, and still rate it the same now in March 2026. The staff are always pleasant when I am there, to myself and other customers. sometimes customers get frustrated but this seems to be due to customers not fully understanding the system; or because of an extended wait when this PO is not adequately staffed. Always the staff are working hard and diligently. I would give this PO more stars if I could!”
