“I had a somewhat unusual request. My elderly mother is in a nursing home and her application to DSS for Medicaid was still being held up for well over a year. She only had $45 in her Santander Checking Account and $20 in her Savings Account. DSS requested full statements going back 5 years which I could not get online. Every step in this long process has been thwarted with quick, unapologetic refusals to help. That means a, until I called Santander Bank and they transferred me to Lisa in their Glastonbury Branch. Lisa took the time to actually listen to my issue and assured me that she would do her best to help. She asked me to come to her office at the end of the day. I actually felt a glimmer of hope which I haven’t felt during this whole process so far. I went in at the end of the day, and Lisa presented me with the stack of paperwork that DSS had requested. I have banked with the branch for 5 years and have always had good customer service. I took our a mortgage couple of years ago and refinanced this year, every experience has been positive. They recently notarized some my documents for free which is a nice convenience, and the ATM always works.
